After the birth of her 2 children, Deborah began counseling pregnant teens and women on prenatal nutrition. She also assisted on a study concerning nutrition status and pregnancy outcome in adolescents for the National Institute of Health. This experience led to a position working with children diagnosed with Phenylketonuria, a metabolic disorder requiring a very specialized diet. My role as a metabolic dietitian included teaching medical students and writing grant applications.
