The $ 25 deal is a scam. They charge an extra $ 10 for the «certificate». Who’d want a slag check without that!!!

Was pleased at first with how quickly my smog check got started but then it all went south when the attendant failed to inform me that I had failed by smog test. She charged me and let me leave without saying anything at all. When I called back to ask why I failed as it was not clear on the paperwork, she was very unhelpful and told me she had another call to take. An after marker air filter was installed in my car at some point which did not meet the smog test standards. Instead of just telling me this off the bat, she went ahead with the pointless test and then charged me and then on top of it didn’t even inform me of any of this.

Fast Service. It cost $ 45.00 out the door. The coupon was $ 25. They charge $ 10 more for a truck and $ 10 for the certificate. I like this place for the fast service. I think that no one likes to get a coupon for $ 25 and Get charged for extra stuff.

Melissa was extremely helpful for my smog test. I had a bad experience prior to coming here. She made it fast and easy and gave me an unbeatable price.

It very quick service for a smoke check. No one likes to wait for hours for small things like smoke check. So the place is very continent and it is very clean.

I stop by here to get a smog on my car that was needed and I was greeted with extremely polite service by a lady named Melissa she promptly took care of my car and smog it and the paperwork was a breeze and I was in and out and I would definitely recommend it to anybody that needs a smog

I called the smog shop and right away the woman on the phone was rude, but I had caught her on a lunch break so I figured that was the reason. I got a price of $ 24.75 on the phone from her plus certificate and e-​transaction fee. Not bad, I had seen coupons for other places online for $ 19.75 + fees. So I figured $ 5 more, no problem.
I get there and they are done no joke like 7 minutes after I got there. Very good. Then I get the bill for $ 45. Not so good. I ask why and I am told that the coupon is $ 24.75 plus fees AND more for a truck?! I say that’s bad business, you guys should really be more honest on the phone… to which I am ignored. I then explain that I have been to this same shop 2 years ago, with the same truck, and the same coupon, and it was $ 10 less… to which I get no response. She takes the money gives me my change and very snidely says sorry if you had a negative experience… basically telling me, I don’t care!
Very rude and dishonest, not a good way to run a business. And all to gain $ 10??? I would not suggest this place simply for the complete lack of courtesy and professionalism let alone the dishonest business practices.

In need of smog cert. The place was very clean and the girl attending me was awesome. You can’t beat the prices and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes

This is a great business. I drove up and was able to get seen right away. The smog process was fast and efficient. The owner had a cooler of beverages available for purchase while I waited in the cozy office. Add to that the great price and I will never go anywhere else!

It sucks that the closet smog check place to where I work here in Tarzana has the worst customer service. I called and the told the lady my situation and what I needed done for my car and the lady on the phone was very rude and talked to me in a manner that I did not appreciate at all. I am a avid Unilocal user, and I always find businesses through Unilocal and this place by far was the worst. If I can give a negative star rating I would. I do not recommend that anybody goes here to get a smog check. Worst experience EVER!

Smog was done super quick and priced better than most of the nearby competition. Unilocal check in coupon said 24.95 for smog, certificate, and ETF but it ended up coming out to $ 35.00 because the certificate and EFT were not included in the coupon? Try to bring exact change if possible, they didn’t have any.

I guess I should have read the reviews before coming. The lady that did my smog test was nice enough when I pulled up and while she was testing it. Then I found out I didn’t pass, and I had to pay anyway, which I find fair, since they still performed the test. Then I called my dealer and they told me the smog place shouldn’t have done the test if the «check engine» light was on, since there’s a much higher chance it won’t pass. I felt like an idiot, because I wish I would have known that before paying for no reason before checking my engine. I called this business (not demanding my money back or anything) just to say that it would be courteous to tell their customers that if their check engine light is on it is likely they won’t pass the test. Well… She called me stupid (yes, used that word) for bringing it in with the check engine light on, and told me they «had to make a profit somehow». Then continued to be very mad on the phone (my tone was calm and not mad at all) and said that i «just lost my re-​test». Um… Wat. I literally only called to say that I think it would be courteous to warn people about the check engine thing. As a person who knows next to nothing about cars, she made me feel like a complete moron. Oh! And she cursed on the phone (f*bomb) and hung up on me. I am confused as to why she was so mean to me… I didn’t say anything offensive or rude.

Fast and friendly service. Was out of there fast! Staff was nice and friendly. Also honored a coupon I had.

Avoid this place if you are JEWISH, GAY or IRANIAN or simply hate RACISM.

I attached screenshots of his racist emails also. These email with all the racist anti-​jew, anti-​gay and anti-​Iranian comments exist on Gmail servers and it is very easy to be proved in the court.
Here I call on any lawyers out there who are offended by this guys racist comments on Jews, gays and Iranians that if you are interested in taking action against Fred and his business, I will be more than happy to provide you with all the evidences and proofs.

DO NOT GO! DON’T LET THE COUPON FOOL YOU. They charged me and finished everything before they told me I didn’t pass bc of a cracked hose. Then, I went to 2 different mechanics, one who also does smog checks and they said the hose is fine! THEY CHARGE AGAIN FOR RETESTING. My mechanic advised me to report them because of this scam.

I will never go back there and I will steer my friends to other places. Why not retest for free like everyone else?
I found this place on groupon. But because I have a vette, they charged much more than advertised, but still less than other shops. Btw, the old vette engine and parts are pretty standard Chevrolet, so I’m not sure it should cost extra. I’ve taken lots of cars to get smog checked and it’s always the same regardless whether it’s a civic or a vette. They charge extra for older cars, pickups, larger cars… I suspect they find a way to charge extra for just about any car.
My car failed. They don’t retest for free because he «spent 30 minutes running the test». But, since my car failed as soon as he looked under the hood –because of a missing hose– there was no reason for him to spend more than 1 minute on the test… Except as a way to waste my time and money.
For me, my mechanic made the repairs and I went to another smog shop with 2 days and passed easily. If I didn’t pass, the other shop would have let me retest for free within 20 days.
My point is, don’t waste your time and $ 47 at this shop for nothing.

These guys are scammers. Do not go here if you want a trustworthy smog station that is honest about what you need to get repaired if you fail.
They could have easily seen with the OBDII that my car was going to fail, because my check engine light was on and the problem definitely showed up, so I didn’t even need to get my smog there at all (that’s $ 28.75 down the drain). Then they scammed me out of $ 2 when I paid, and they would charged me an extra $ 3.75 had I gotten a retest. The correct numbers were on the receipt and they just plain wrote in their own higher prices. Also, when I went back for a retest after I got it repaired, they tried to have me pay another $ 60 to bypass a problem, which seemed very shady (if it passes it passes right?) and which is illegal. I just got it tested at another place, and it passed with no problems.
I went here knowing that my car might fail because the check engine light was on (and I already knew it was for an O2 sensor). Right when I got there they started hooking everything up, and they got it started. By the time I got a chance to ask them about the check engine light, they said the test was already going.
It failed, of course, and now they told me about the O2 sensor.
At the beginning I showed them the $ 24.75 coupon, would means it would have been $ 35 if I had passed (+$ 8.25 cert +$ 2 ETF). Some places don’t have the electronic transfer fee (ETF), so when you’re looking for the cheapest place, make sure to take that into account– there are some $ 24.75 places that don’t have it (since it doesn’t cost them anything to send the certificate electronically), so they’re $ 2 cheaper.
Since it didn’t pass, they said I didn’t have to pay for the smog certificate fee. They charged me $ 28.75. $ 24.75 + $ 2 is $ 26.75 (which is what it says on the receipt), so here’s $ 2 already that they scammed from me. They charge an extra $ 2 for credit cards, but I paid with cash. Then they said it would be $ 10 extra for a retest, because I would have to pay the certificate fee. Again, where did they get that number? The certificate is $ 8.25. And since they overcharged me, $ 35 minus $ 28.75 is $ 6.25, which is what a retest should have costed. So if I had gotten a retest, they would have been scamming me out of another $ 3.75.
So I got the O2 sensor replaced at a repair shop, and went back after a couple days and about 35 miles of driving. It was near their closing time, so when I got there they said they had already shut off the machine. I had to plead for them to try anyway, since I had to drive 25 minutes to get there, so the guy said OK I’ll check to see if it’s ready. So he checked my car with the OBDII and said I had not driven enough since the repair, so if he did the smog check then it would fail anyway (HEY WAIT couldn’t they have done that the first time I went there when I had the check engine light on?! They never should have done the smog check in the first place with what they knew.) So he said I should drive at least another 20 miles before trying to get it tested.
I came back after a few more days, and 93 miles since I got the repair. He checked my car with the OBDII again, and this time he said that the EVAP (evaporation systems) was failing. I asked him to explain what that meant, and he said it had to do with how there is supposed to be a pressure release when you open the gas cap, and how after a while that system components will need to be replaced. Then he said I needed to get it repaired, but I could also have it tested right then and he would do a bypass on that, letting it pass even with that one thing failing, but it would cost me $ 60. I complained a little saying that he said it would be $ 10 for a retest, so he said «OK I’ll do it for $ 45» or something along those lines. I said I would think about it.
I looked on the old print out of the smog, it did show a «FAIL» in the category «Crankcase Emission Controls», so I took his word that he was being truthful (even though right under that it said «Fuel Evaporative System (EVAP)» had passed). I told him I would get it repaired instead of paying more for him to test and pass it.
So today I went to a different place and first showed them the print out of the failed smog which showed the crankcase «FAIL». They said that it would never fail a smog test because of that, so they did the test and it passed. I told them about what the Smog Stop people had said, and they said they were obviously trying to scam me. They also said it’s illegal and there’s a big fee for what this place did to try to get me to pay $ 60.
If you’re looking for a cheap Smog station, find one for $ 24.75 that does not charge an ETF fee, don’t go here. If you’re looking for a place that doesn’t have extra fees and does not overcharge you, don’t go here. If your check engine light is on and you think your car might fail, don’t go here. And if you’re looking for a place that will be honest about your car’s problems if it fails, DO NOT GO HERE.
