Our church is located in the county of Los Angeles and we specialize in Christian ministry to people from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. You are most welcome to join with us this Sunday in our worship from 10:00 — 11:30 am.

History

Established in 1925.

The beginning of the First United Methodist Church was set against the backdrop of a rural community composed of a school, grocery store, drugstore, food store, service station and a bank. The heart of Reseda was the intersection of Sherman Way and Reseda Boulevard.

Harry and Elsie Cady were the pioneers who fostered a dream of forming a church. This dream was born in September, 1923, when they invited interested persons to attend a Sunday School in their home. Twenty-​four attended the first class. An enthusiasm was sparked and meetings continued in homes, a vacant store building, and a bean factory where the only bench was a bean sack.

The church was officially chartered in 1924 as the Reseda Community Church in the Pacific Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, with the Rev. Enoch Eiland as the first pastor.

Meet the Manager

Pastor Gordon M.

Manager

The Rev. Dr. Gordon W. Marchant began his ministry at Reseda in March 2012. Before moving to Los Angeles, Gordon served churches in Canada, Hawaii, and Washington D.C.

Our pastor received his Bachelor of Theology degree from Northwest Baptist Theological College and Seminary in Vancouver, BC. He also earned a Master of Divinity degree from Briercrest Biblical Seminary in Caronport, SK and a Doctor of Ministry degree specializing in multi-​ethnic church ledership from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.

Pastor Gordon and Aleta have three children.
