Don’t want to tell you too much about this because then it will be overrun with you all. And there are a lot of «you» here in L.A. Especially don’t want to tell you about Cleveland after reading what folks say about a certain other pool which shall remain nameless in another part of the valley which is also open year round. The people here are 5 stars, and what they do with their programs. It’s the facility that is 2 or 3. I guess an average is 3.5? What’s great about it: Decent programs for kids year-round, incredibly inexpensive. I don’t regret any money spent here for my kid since it has been so little compared to any other sport. What other sport can you do 4 days a week for 3 or 4 months for $ 50 total? On top of that, the lifeguards/coaches are all extremely pleasant. Assistant manager is also very friendly and if you need help with getting information, he does his best to get it to you. I get emails from the pool letting me know when heater’s not working or when a program is starting up. I really like this pool and the people who work there. Can you tell? This pool itself is certainly cleaner, due to its lower usage than other said pool. What needs improvement: With that said, the maintenance and facilities are exactly the same as that other outdoor valley pool, with the possible exception of more grossness around the seating area because people leave food and cockroaches come, since it is indoors. I see them all the time. City has no money for janitors, and the site cannot use certain pesticides, I believe, because there are children present and state laws prohibit it. If you have seen other city pools, you know this is a ‘red-headed stepchild’ facility that has not been remodeled. There is an adaptive pool in a separate room, but the heater has been broken for years. It lies unused except to store equipment and supplies along its walls. Sad. The exterior is completely filthy, I am always picking up trash left around by people. This is on high school property, so lots of loitering and littering. Sometimes it gets a little eerie at night and you think you might get jumped in the parking lot, but there is lighting and it is a fenced school lot. Not that that makes any difference, really. Just a psychological one. All in all, in a city that is relatively cash-strapped, this is one of the better places you will find, because of its people.
