Second Time Around

Stopped in here once to look for an N64 game. I was with my boyfriend and one of his friends and I was carrying my purse. The girl behind the counter immediately stopped me as I walked in and said I needed to put my purse behind the counter so I wouldn’t steal anything.Umm.excuse me? I said I’d wait outside. She then started following my boyfriend and his friend around like a hawk asking them all sorts of questions about what consoles we play… etc. They got so annoyed they just ended up walking out. I drive by this place everyday on the way to work and it is always empty.

The sales clerk wouldn’t leave us alone. High pressure sales tactics and absolutely over priced products. Why buy from here when I can go down the street to Retro Game & Toy and get something cheaper from someone who is knowledgeable and not pushy. One side note: At the time there was a big sign behind the PS2 games that said buy one, get one free. (Free game must be 5 $ or less) and there was not one PS2 game at that price level. Some items were total retail price for used. Final Fantasy X and X-​2 HD PS3 versions used for 20 when I could buy them for that right now at Target. Not what I look for in a game store and due to the clerk making me feel like a jerk for not wanting to buy his overpriced games I doubt I would ever go back.

Anytime a new shop sells vinyl, I’m there… I’ve not much interest in the gaming aspect.
After a couple months of wavering and wondering, I thought I’d check this place out and peruse their record selection. Their selection was colorless– a few winners, a whole lot of losers. But that’s somewhat of a given seeing as how they are just starting out, and, are, a second-​hand shop — their name is befitting of their inventory.
However, it isn’t the shop’s stock that’s a turn off. It was the one, and only, store clerk.
The reviews (thus far) by Dan S. and Krissie Z. are absolutely spot on. Same experience for this lad.
I have no tolerance for stalking, haggling retail clerks. And it also didn’t help that the guy lacked social grace, friendliness, intelligence, and decency. Including… customer service.
The deficiency of prices on each item also sucks big time. Far too many inconsistencies to mention.
Not likely to ever return… My intuition tells me there won’t be a second time around.

Terrible customer service. Came in today to find a game for my super nintendo. Their games one are really over priced, but more so they’re really forceful with sales. I asked how much a game was because there was no price on it, she said how much can you pay, wth… you should have it priced. Anyway, finally picked a price and paid. When paying I told the girl I liked her cell phone case she then feared I was going to steal her phone. Moved it, twice. The first time I was in there, they tried to force me to buy stuff.

If there’s one thing gamers, and everyone else for that matter, love it’s high-​pressure sales tactics. I know I love it when a store employee follows me around 1 foot away and pesters me like a Mexican street vendor every time I glance at an item. Love. It.
A friend and I dropped in here today before stepping into 8 Bit next door and immediately the weird guy working behind the counter leaped out and started following us around. He saw me looking at the SNES stuff and immediately was like «Do you play Super Nintendo? What consoles do you play?» When I mentioned Playstation he followed me over there and every time my friend or I would pick up a game he’d try to talk us into it: «Want to try that one out? Want to buy it? We can make you a deal on that one! That one’s only $ 5 why not buy it?» And on and on and on. Finally we just started completely ignoring him and eventually he went away. It was creepy and weird and I don’t plan on ever going back even though they’re literally next door to 8 Bit, which I hit semi-​regularly.
It’s not like the service matters anyway; it’s a tiny place with almost no inventory or reason to stop in. I actually don’t know why I’m bothering with this review; they’ll be gone inside 12 months.
