Description

Specialties

My specialty is working with Adolescents and Teens. I offer Positive Discipline Parent Education as well as Family Therapy for extremely effective results in addressing the concerns of your teen. Collaborating with the family helps maximize the progress by helping the family adapt to and support the changes.

History

Established in 2009.

My clinical experience as a therapist ranges from suicidal children and teens to parenting concerns to personal growth and development to addiction and trauma. My wide background of experience has prepared me to assist in many of the challenges people face and more importantly to know when to bring in more help. I am passionate about my path as a therapist. I can think of nothing else I would rather do. This passion for the art and science of therapy is my greatest asset and is the motor that continues my growth and learning as a family therapist.

Prior to my entrance into the family therapy field I was a high school and middle school teacher. During this time my most fulfilling work was with young men and women that were struggling in the rigid confines of the school system. I taught vocational education classes and helped young people figure out a path for themselves they could be proud of.

Meet the Business Owner

Joseph B.

Business Owner

I am a family therapist, meaning, I look at people’s struggles as relational (to self or other) rather than as a defect in a person. I employ a strength based approach to therapy focusing on strengths and resources to help unleash potential for positive change.

I earned my Masters of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science from the Leadership Institute of Seattle /Bastyr University. Since graduating with my Masters Degree I have continued my education by becoming a certified A.R.T. Instructor (Aggression Replacement Training) and a Positive Discipline parent educator. I have taken numerous trainings on trauma, ethics, culturally competent counseling, and co-occurring disorders (addiction mixed with other disorders). I also have experience working with people from indigenous cultures and understand some of the core differences of collective culture vs. individualistic culture.
