UYE Esteban’s Happy Hour – Royce

The first Happy Hour without Esteban — but never fear, we all got a chance to cozy up to glossy version!
We were running late and we missed Royce’s happy hour, but it was nice to at least sit and have a drink with everyone before heading off to the food trucks!
The last time we were at Royce, the menu was strictly wine and whisky. So we were both pleasantly surprised to see that they had amped up their menu with things like gin and beer! I tried their Penicillin, which I loved. We also sampled some of goodies that the others had ordered — [not spicy] shishitos, [not spicy] beer-​cheese dip, olives, and candied bacon. Good all around, and a nice way to tide us over until an actual meal.
Looking forward to more patio drinking at whatever spot is next on the list!

With Esteban’s list, Donna S. has taken on the responsibility of putting on this happy hour UYEs. I have only been to Royce once and that was also with my fellow Unilocalers during Dine the District food tour. I was looking forward to coming back because of how comfy and inviting their patio setup looked, perfect for these hot Reno summers.
Five star company and conversations… I really like these lesser crowded events where you can pretty much catch up with everyone and get to know other Unilocalers you’d otherwise just be saying a quick hello to. And the after party at Idlewild was a definite plus.

Our first happy hour since the Ban moved back to Costa Rica in May. We all missed him but we had Esteban in spirit and in a 8×10 glossy.
This month was at Royce and we enjoyed their large comfy furniture on the patio along with the perfect summer weather. We seemed to have the entire place to ourselves for the three hours we were there and that was perfect.
Leslie took care of the drink and snack requests with a smile

An event perfectly suited to honor the tradition Esteban began here in Reno.
In Donna’s capable hands the event went off without a hitch.
The cocktails were smooth. I had the Penicillin. Light and prefect the rather warm day. The patio was lovely — chairs with comfy cushions in the shade. The company was top notch — discussions of culinary festivals and some interesting food allergies. The snacks were to die for — candied bacon anyone? Go ahead… look at the picture. I dare you not to try and lick the screen!
Every single UYE Happy Hour has been a new treat so with Esteban there in spirit (and a large glossy photo) Donna will guide us to another hot spot. I can’t wait to see what you both have in store for us.
