Total Wine & More

I’m from California but come to Reno 3 – 4 times a year and always make a special stop here before heading home to load up on beer and liquor. Prices of 6-​packs and bottles are always a few dollars less expensive then in CA. They have an impressive amount of whiskey and bourbon but –1 star for what seems to be a shrinking tequila selection. I also like that they have many craft beers available in cans that only come in bottles back in CA. Staff are very helpful and friendly. What a great experience I had at Total wine! I have never been disappointed! Anthony ~ Store Manager went above and beyond to help me find a wine to go with our Moroccan themed dinner with our «Secret Service Diner Club» meeting. I told Anthony what was being served and he was on it! He found me two wines from South Africa ~ one Cabernet Sauvignon (Neethlingshof Estate 2012) and one Shiraz (Spier Vintage Selection 2009)! The price was very reasonable and within my budget. Can’t wait to try them. Thank you so much Anthony, for your help!

Total Wine is the best place to go if you want variety. And I’m talking, Beer, Wine, Liquor, Cigars. They have anything and everything. The staff is always super friendly and willing to help you search for the perfect drink. They’re great at giving suggestions on wine that fits your taste buds, and your price range.
If you would like to try a wine, or liquor before buying it, you usually can. Which is really great, as a grocery store could not do something like that.
There is always a wine tasting going on, or for me this last visit KRZQ was set up with a beer company doing a specialty beer tasting. Yum!
Total Wine sets up special events, on learning about different varietals of wine, or meeting with a wine maker. Some events are free, and some can cost up to $ 20. I’ve yet to attend an event but plan to in the near future.

Total Wine & More is a refreshing development in modern adult beverages. They have successfully adopted a supermarket style liquor store with low prices and extensive selections. Their Reno location is on South Virginia just off Interstate 580 tucked into a power center near Home Depot and Whole Foods.
This is probably the best place to buy alcohol in the Reno/​Tahoe area. They even can be beat Costco’s prices with a much larger selection. Total Wine stocks a wine selection that would impress even the most selective sommelier and has a crazy selection of liquor, even the obscure stuff. This is also a hop head paradise with aisles and aisles of beer.
The staff are helpful and friendly, and often have tastings in the store. They offer classes and other services. You can also stock up on some drinkware, party supplies, and even a few cigars. It can be a bit overwhelming sometimes with so many items, but it is very fun to try something new and unique.
Any town that has a Total Wine is extra blessed. Reno is fortunate to have this store available to help celebrate or commiserate life’s great events!

When you put thousands of bottles of wine, spirits, accessories, and knowledgeable staff you get an adult Disneyland. We were looking for a Chardonnay and decided to stop in to see if they carried the brand we wanted. As soon as we walked in, we saw they were having a wine tasting… how lucky were we? After going through a flight we found some great wines and suggestions on others to try. They have wine tasting and liquor tastings on Saturdays.
The store is laid out beautiful and it is easy to find what you are looking for, but if you can’t the staff is so friendly and helpful. We were asked several times if we needed help. They carry mixers and every kind of accessory you could need for your bar.

This place is fantastic and I mean it.
They have an unbelievable selection: whiskey, wine, beer, you name it they have it and from any country you can imagine.
Plus the prices are the best around.

I just love this store for anything alcoholic! The non alcohol items, like sodas and chips and pretzels are not a good buy here at all. The prices overall you can’t beat. Sure I like to give the independent smaller retailers business, but when the price disparity is so much, I’m sorry, my bank account says come here. The service is always so nice and friendly and they’ll actually walk you over and find an item you ask about. The whole ambiance here is very nice and safe and clean. This is the total opposite of a corner liquor store in Oakland with bars on all the windows and drug dealers peddling their products on the sidewalk.
So, the main reason I’m writing this update, is I wanted to share my great find I made here last. I was just browsing the aisles and saw a Key Lime Pie Liqueur. Now, I just love Key Lime Pie, but was a little leery of a liqueur in a bottle (750ml) being any resemblance of an actual Key Lime Pie. It was priced at $ 10.50 for the Ke — Ke Key Lime Cream Liqueur (30 proof). So, I get this back to my Cuz’s place where I’m staying in Reno, and we open it up. First pour is sort of light cream green. Hmmm, OK, first sip … oh wow! This really does taste just like Key Lime Pie… there’s even a graham cracker crust finish! Amazing, how do they get a drink to taste just like that, even the graham cracker flavor?! Next we add ice … Oh, that’s even better. I really like this!
The second thing I purchased at Total Wine was a bottle of New Amsterdam Vodka. I got a half bottle size, you know the ones you drink with a paper bag? It was only $ 6.50. I thought it was made in The Netherlands by the name, but it’s made in Modesto CA! For the price, this was some smooth stuff and pumped up the octane of the Key Lime some. I think it’s a great for the money. Speaking of which, checking the price of the Key Lime drink online, many places wanted like $ 18.00! for it, where here at Total Wine it’s just $ 10.50 …killer deal!
So, I’ll continue to come here for the killer prices and great service. Give that Ke — Ke Key Lime Cream Liqueur at try! Now I need another bottle of it!

My first visit here… Other than here grand opening week. Lots of pleasant changes.
I was in overload!!! Thank goodness the aisles were well marked. Way too many employees asking if I needed help. Maybe it was the blank look in my eyes when I walked in… Some kind of a trigger… Here comes a live one!
I was given a cart… Handed a sales flyer… then by a 3^rd employee asked if j wanted a sample of the wine he was pushing… All within 39 seconds of walking I. The door !
With my list in my hand (shopping for Xmas party gig gifts)… I was determined to get this over with quickly! Prices were great and as I got the bottle of fireball you would think I had sinned… 2 different employed approached me to try to convince me to buy something else…
Then off to get Bailys. Who would guess there are over 20 different kinds… thank goodness another employee helped me with that selection.
Scotch aisle I thought I would be on with. Wrong sales reps again … This time offering samples !!!
Finally after 30 minutes I made it to the register. 2 more employees explaining to me the value of their frequent buyer program …
Next time I will go in prepared to leave tipsy and have someone else with me!!!

It’s 10:30, you’re headed out of town, and you weren’t able to hit the store for essential provisions the evening prior and need something better than what the c-​store or grocery have to do. So where do you head? Total Wine! They’ve got what you need morning, noon and night, and that’s what makes em great!
This was the situation I found myself in as I prepared to depart for Unilocal’s Tahoe Getaway. Luckily T Dubs was there to get me ready. So, with the voices of Christian O and Shelly C of the Atlantis in my head, I went straight back to the whiskey aisle to find something special. Total Wine seems to be forever broadening their selection, which makes each visit fun. As a whiskey fan, I enjoy seeing the single barrel programs they’re bringing in, but the shelves are also lined with interesting bottles too.
I’ve had my eye on Eagle Rare for some time, and after sampling quite a bit of it the night before at Unilocal’s Booze School, I knew I had to get it. This bourbon is great and an exceptional bargain at only about $ 35 a bottle. I snatched one up and kept looking for something else. I’d had my eye on Stagg Jr. after Id heard these products can be tough to come by, but after checking reviews I passed. I walked the aisle up and down, scanning the shelves, and it finally hit me. I could hear Tracy S’ voice directing me to Clyde Mays. And it was a great choice.
The weekend was made more fun sharing these spirits with friends while listening to stories and other chatter. We started the bottle of Eagle Rare Thursday and finished it up with pickle backs on Sunday.

I love the selections they have. This place is close to home (that’s always a plus.) I attended a class once where Dan Akroyd made a appearence for his Skull Vodka, that was pretty neat. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They always remember me (Is that a good thing?) :) I had to buy a cigar for a gift once (I have no clue how to choose those things) I was given some really good advice and learned a little about it. I like the flash chiller they have for the beer and wine. I also like when the seasonals go on sale because they are super cheap and such a great deal. I saved the winter beers last year for my Christmas in July Party this year.

This place seems like it would be a great place to work, assuming you get a discount!!! The have brut Chandon for $ 15 you can not beat that price!!! I am currently signed up for there rewards system and have accrued THOUSANDS of points but am yet to receive any kind of discount or reward! It seems like they’re just empty promises! I bet that this system is just to keep track of what I buy regularly so they know what to raise the prices on!!! But the Chandon is a great price and so is all of their other pagne! Also I love all the mixes they have in stock!!! I’m trying peach Bellini this week! You know I’ll keep coming back!!!

Love Total Wine & More! In the area for Labor Day weekend/​Ribfest and needed provisions for the hotel room. We would drive out of the way to come here before going to BevMore because TW&M offers great prices, bigger selection and just really good prices!!!
Husband is a Bourbon & American Whiskey collector so we always stop in to see what each TW&M has. This one is a bit smaller than the one we are used to in Roseville, CA but still great selection and service.

I’m a fan of Total Wine. I do think that they have amazing prices on hard alcohol, some beers, and a few wines. I suggest price shopping on any wines that can also be purchased at Whispering Vine, Vino 100, Ben’s, or Fine Vines. One of our favorite zins is the 2013 Turley Juvenile. (At Total Wine its $ 46.99 and at Whispering Vine it is $ 21.99.) HUGE price difference!
The payoff from shopping TW is the high end single malt scotch, vodka, some craft beers, and wine from certain regions in Europe. They do have an excellent selection and are open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
With some research you can score great deals and make sure you sign up for their coupons and loyalty program —

Total wine is like Toys R Us, except for people who like to drink alcohol! They have a huge selection of spirits, wine, beer, ciders, cigars, and all the accessories you need to make a great drink!
I’m a big fan of their whiskey, scotch, and bourbon selection, since that is mainly what I enjoy. They have a wide variety from multiple countries or locations (Canada, Ireland, Scotland, Kentucky, you name it). They also have several knowledgeable staff that are always willing to help you find the next great bottle.
The beer selection is equally amazing: you can buy anything from a single beer to a keg, and everything in between. I especially like that you can mix and match your own 6 pack, so you can try a little bit of everything.
Much like Costco, they also offer free samples. This is a great way to get customers to try knew products instead of just going to the tried and true same ‘ol same ‘ol. I’ve changed my default tequila brand based on these samples, so they definitely work.
I’ve also sampled a couple of the classes here, and all have been put together really well and are inexpensive. The fall’s scotch class is especially worth trying out, as you can sample a bunch of different scotch’s that may be outside your price range.
This is the place to go if you want variety for a fair price.

Normally we get most of our liquor from the liquor store down the street or our local grocery store. But when I need something specific or we’re having a get together, I head to Total Wine. Just based on their selection alone, you can find something for everyone! And if they don’t have it in the store (such as one of my favorite wines) you can order it online and pick it up at the store. I recently signed up for their rewards program to receive discounts and coupons on the items that I purchase the most. And if an item ends in a 7, it’s the lowest price that it will ever be at Total Wine (hint, they don’t let you use coupons on items ending in 7 either).
Their service really cannot be beat for a big box store. I not only go to Total Wine for personal purchases but I go there for my office too when we have special events. Their staff will help you find anything in the store and they are always very friendly and personable. Yes they are not local, but they employ A LOT of local people and that’s a good bet in my book.
I have it on my list to check out another tasting event here, and soon. We went to one a few years ago right before New Year’s Eve and it was awesome being able to taste different champagnes and sparkling wines without having to commit to purchasing a whole bottle first. I’ll block out at least a couple of hours, because you cannot be in this store without checking out everything they have. It’s just too much fun browsing all the different liquors, beers, wines, mixers and gifts.

I typically just go to the convenience store down the street for my house for most of my adult beverage needs, but there comes a time when you need something more than that basic stock and/​or you need a lot of it. That’s where Total Wine comes in!
Obviously, their selection is huge and the store is nicely separated into distinct areas for wine, beer, and spirits. The spirits and wine are then broken up into categories too. This is really helpful for finding what you need quickly. They also have a section of smaller bottles of spirits — nice when you aren’t too sure about something so you only want to commit to a smaller bottle. The selection is limited, of course.
There’s a cold beer section in the very back and then bottles and packs towards the right of the store. There are always a few beers on tap too from both local and national breweries.
Total Wine is great for finding your basics, local options, up-​and-​upcoming beers and spirits, and some obscure things too — all for an excellent price. One thing that I did wish they had, which I think makes total sense, is garnishes. Maybe up towards the cash registers they could have some limes and lemons so you don’t have to make another stop just for those?
Their newsletter can be catered towards your likes (beer, sprits, wine) so you’ll get coupons for those sorts of things. It also has a calendar of upcoming events that are taking place in the store, like tastings and classes.

I love going here! There are so many options for beer, wine, and spirits. This is a toy store for adults. The prices for most items are $ 2-​$ 3 less than a grocery store. Twelve pack of microbrews for $ 12.99-$ 14.99 and liquor is way cheaper here. It’s perfect for wanting to try new things too because they have the store organized by type of alcohol.

No matter what I need in the beverage world this is my first stop. From soda to beer to wine to alcohol related gifts /​accessories, they have it all. If you can’t find it — just ask. The employees are more than willing to share their experiences with the products as well as guiding you straight to what you wanted and what you didn’t know you needed. Every few weeks I try to drop in and grab a few new beers or ciders to try. Being able to buy by the bottle is unique and perfect for someone who wants to try a variety. I have a fear of commitment until I’ve had a few attempts with the beverage of my choice. After I purchase them individually I can come back in and grab them in a larger pack or case. If I fall in with something I can always seek advice for similar styles /​flavor profiles.
This last visit was to begin to search out a summer brew. Every summer I find something I love enough to keep a case on hand for when people come over randomly or we barbecue. This visit did not disappoint. When I came home and cracked open my latest selection I was delighted.
They also have an excellent selection of sodas for those who don’t enjoy the alcoholic libations. I can grab a case of beer for me and a 6 pack of soda for the wifey.
When bringing home large amounts of alcohol for yourself it’s always best to come home with gifts for the wifey!

The first time I walked into a Total Wine, I darn near had a heart attack! The options are truly amazing. Originally my hunny and I decided to enter in search for a beer that usually is only carried in specialty stores or bars with extensive tap options because it is predominately an East Coast beer. Then I took a food and wine pairing class up at TMCC, which had a ‘field trip’ to Total Wine in which we learned about wines and paired them in their back classroom… the instructor works there and was able to teach us a TON about wine, and a little even about the store! The best way to describe this store is to break it up into categories, which even have subcategories, but I will try my best to keep it simple! First, the main categories are:
1) Wine
2) Beer
3) Spirits… A.K.A Hard Stuff!
4) Cigars
Now for those subcategories… I say this store has wine and beer and liquor… but what market on the corner doesn’t these days? The difference here is the SUPER EXTENSIVE options in what they offer, compared to other places, along with staff, which is super knowledgeable about the alcohol as well.
First the wine section, which takes up the majority of the store, has options of wines both locally in the United States but also foreign countries as well! From west coast US states like California, Washington and Oregon, to even a few wines from the East Coast NYC… to wines from all over the world including but not limited to Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Chile… Italy and France of course, and even some of the more rare finds like wine from Greece, and colder regions like Germany, which produces some of the most delicious Rieslings. My opinion, DO NOT be afraid to try wines from other countries! They are no more expensive than wines from the United States, and why not be adventurous and try something other than your California Oak Chardonnay for once! Trust me, you won’t regret it.
Onto beer… Beer in this store will not disappoint! How can it when the variety alone will have you gazing at their options for hours before finally deciding! East Coast beer like Magic Hat, to a simple Pyramid Hefeweizen… Angry Orchard and so much more. Total Wine has it! Single bottles, six packs, 24 packs and larger, Kegs, and even a Tap!!! Are all available, so go check out their beer section!
The liquor is amazing here! They break it up for you into sections, one for Vodka, one for Whiskey one for Gin one for Tequila, one for Rum and one for mix in’s I call em’…the raspberry liquors and such. Up at the front of the store they even have two little kiosks with all the single shots of alcohol you could think of! And if all this wasn’t already enough, they have a little humidified room where they keep cigars!
Now I am not a cigar smoker, but I sure do LOVE the smell of them. My dad smoked cigars and I think the smell reminds me of him… therefore my trips include a walk through the room where I pick up cigars, smell them, put them back, then pretend to be a mob boss with one before exiting! It’s fun I swear lol.
This store really has it all, accessories to alcohol to cigars, what more could you want than Total Wine and More!
…P.S…Did I mention at the front of the store is the neatest, instant chiller I have ever seen! You can drop your warm bottle of literally whatever into this little cold cyclone water bath and literally within just a few minutes, your bottle will be ice cold! I want one so badly, but sadly due to the ridiculous price of said cooling machine, I will have to settle for using Total Wines whenever I get the chance!

Although the wine that I love is an exclusive at a different store, I found my experience here to be a great one.
I knew I wasn’t going to find The Buccaneer… sadly. Instead, we looked around and were approached by numerous people offering their assistance.
We ended up going with a semi expensive bottle of wine from Spain. It was a strong recommendation by one of the managers. Of course, everyone’s taste in wine is different. Unfortunately, this particular bottle was not to my liking. I did appreciate the effort though on their end!
We found that their moscow mule mugs were on sale. Score! Picked up 2.
They were out of muddlers… the original reason why we came here in the first place. Boo.
All in all, they have so much variety with attentive customer service. 4 stars.
