Best place in town way nicer the brew chatter which is closer to me. Everytime I Go in they are friendly and always say with you until you leave. Went to brew chatter stood in the front for about 5 mins go in the back and they are drinking beer and really didn’t seem like they cared since I was new brewer

Oh my goodness!!! My hubby and I were very new to the homebrew life! We had made one batch of «Mr Beer» and we’re ready to dive in to real home brewing! So we thought we would stop in. At first walk thru this place was overwhelming, it was clear there was so much we had no clue about home brewing! The wonderful woman behind the counter saw us wandering like lost puppies, and offered help. She walked us thru everything we needed to start our first batch. She showed us their recipe wall. We chose a stout, she then walked us thru what to buy, and what interesting modifications we could do the the batch to make it unique! They have all your home brewing needs, and then some, but what makes this place amazing, is the staff! They clearly love home brewing! And want to share that with the community! They were truly helpful, and kind! We left with such confidence! And our first brew turned out amazing!!! This is now the only place we go to get our home brew ingredients! We are addicted!
If you are an expert, check this place out! If you are a brand new little lost puppy like we were… You need to go here!!! NOW! Your beer will thank you!!!

I got my first starter kit here and have had such a great experience! Rob accidentally forgot a yeast pack with the first batch and answered the phone and hooked me up with a packet, despite being closed that day. I have been able to email and ask him questions, which has helped if there is too much info on the Internet. I absolutely love that his kits are down to earth. He suggests the cheap and easy use of bleach and dry yeast, instead of trying to upsell to things I probably don’t need. I don’t initially get a friendly welcome, but when you ask for help you have their full attention. I highly suggest anyone interested in brewing give it a try, and RHB is a great place to start.

Been doing business with theseguys for four or five years. If you want a fancy place this is not for you. If you want brewing supplies, competent suggestions and help, along with various beer recipes then get over the dust and yourselves and come here.

Rob and his smartly uniformed staff are always attentive and full of information. The best part is this is one of those shops you can feel at home at and just take your time looking around. I will certainly continue to purchase my brewing supplies (and eggs) here in the future

A basic brewing supply place. Most people are helpful except for the old very large bald guy. Wow what a horrible tone he had with many customers. Aside from the one rude offensive guy. I was able to buy my stuff and leave. Ingredients seem to be fresh and were of a decent quality.

Rob and crew are the greatest! Personable, knowledgeable and downright good people. I sell them eggs which they in turn sell to their customers and Rob doesn’t mark them up a penny over what he pays for them. A real neat fun place to go.

Hello all. I have been buying supplies from these guys for several years. Good people, Useful information and they have been helpful. I will keep coming back.
However, I don’t go there to buy my eggs. I go there for beer and wine making supplies, And they have never let me down in that regard

Such a great homebrew store. I hear horror stories of stores in other towns and it makes me love RHB even more.
Huge selection of everything you need. They have a lot more than they list on their website!
Grains are fresh, hops are numerous and in pellet, whole, and plug form, and they have a wide array of liquid and dry yeast. Also almost any piece of equipment you could need.
There’s also wine, cheese, and soda making products.
Everyone who works there is incredibly friendly and helpful. Even if you don’t have questions you’ll find yourself engaging in some awesome beer talk.

I love this place.
I have been brewing for about 10 years now and the knowledge and experience that this place has to offer is awesome. There is always a fun, family oriented atmosphere and there is no better way to spend a few hours on a weekend than brewing your own beer. They have everything that you need to make your own set-​up at home and make a high quality product. (if you follow the recipes) For more advanced brewers, they have you covered too with many grain, hops and yeast choices.

I decided to try to brew beer at home, Unilocaled it, and checked out this business based on the good reviews. When checking out this place if far exceded the reviews.
When pulling up, Reno Homebrewer looks like a loading dock. When I entered through a walk-​in refrigerator door I was surprised to find a dozen people hanging out, drinking and talking beer. It was like entering a speak-​easy.
But everything the other reviewers said is true. The guys working were very helpful and spent a lot of time explaining how the brewing process works. I ended up hanging out there for about an hour, enjoying a beer and talking with some local home brewers. I will definitely be coing there again and again.

I home brewed a few years back, and then quit for a while, and started again last year. For those who don’t know, there are basically two camps of brewer, extract and all grain. Extract is easier and faster, I’ve done both, but prefer all grain because you end up with a better more personalized beer. If you want to home brew this is the only place in Reno to get supplies, literally, and Rob, the owner is an information booth.
Whatever question you might have, he’ll usually have the answer.
Now I’ve ordered some hops and yeast online in bulk and saved a couple of bucks, but it behooves you to buy the majority of your supplies here.
For one thing, he does a brisk business, so you know with that kind of a high turnover you get fresh grains, hops, yeast and extracts.
Also the fact that you can have it now, and get free advice makes this the go to place to get your brewing done the same day.
It’s located in an industrial area and is totally lacking in décor, as it should be. If you drink good beer, (Budweiser, Coors, and such don’t count)
You need to learn the art of brewing your own.

This place is pretty rad (if you’re into brewing and GOOD, rare beer).
We opted to try and use a «local» shop for our second-​ever brewing experience, and the Reno Homebrewer did not disappoint. Hidden away in the «industrial» section of Reno, next to artsy tile shops and random «new, artsy» condos, the Reno Homebrewer exists. Shelves of hops, malts, sugars, mesh bags, carboys, etc etc line the (rather small) shop. A decent selection of dried fruit and spices exists in the center of the store. On one side, you can find the wine essentials across from a ‘fridge stocked with rare beer that I’ve only seen here. A bar sits in the front of the shop (a place to enjoy those rare beers), where they also ring up your brewing purchases.
We wanted a relatively easy brew session and we wanted to follow a store recipe, so we opted to check out the recipes printed out in the back of the store to «build» a Nut Brown Ale. Basically, the recipes line the shelf and then it’s up to YOU to walk around the store gathering the essentials. (It’s easy-​enough, though. Everything is marked remarkably well.) The price was absolutely right and on-​par with anything I’ve seen on More Beer or Midwest Brewing’s websites… but you don’t have to pay shipping if you buy in-​person! The store help was also exceptional. Both workers were super-​friendly and not-​at-​all judgemental, snobby, or anything that might make a new brewer self-​conscious about important questions.
We bought everything we needed and splurged on a liquid yeast over a dry. We bought a new mesh bag, some new metal caps, and a $ 10 bottle of Alaskan’s 2009 Baltic Porter Ale. Our total came out to about $ 50 with all of the ingredients we needed, as well as the «extras.» (There is a surcharge of about $ 3 or so to use the credit-​card machine. I felt this was a bit steep.) We found out that you can get $ 2 back if you return the container that the malt extract comes in (clean, of course).
I only took off one star because, well, this place is pretty dirty. There was dust pretty much everywhere. I realize that you sterilize your equipment before using it, anyway, but I would expect a brew store to be a bit cleaner. I also didn’t like the steep credit card surcharge or the rather high pricing for the bottled beer (Dogfish Head was about $ 4.25 PER BOTTLE. You can get a 4-​pack for almost double that price — even in Tahoe. I’d only buy beer here if you’re looking for something super-rare…the equivalent of seeking out a fine wine for a special occasion; for this, the Reno Homebrewer rocks.)
All-​in-​all, I think this is definitely our new spot for brew equipment and ingredients. It’s more fun to pick out your brew stuff in-​person and the staff is really nice. I’ll be recommending this place to anyone who asks about brewing beer.
