I’ve shopped here quite a few times. THIS Home Depot has much more merchandise than the location at the south end near me.
Great customer service EVERY time!

Least favorite HD in town. Damonte Ranch, Northtowne and Spanish Springs are all worth the drive to avoid this one. It’s cluttered, not as clean, and the staff is way less friendly than anywhere else in town. Asked for help finding a patio door handle and both associates couldn’t be bothered to assist, simply pointing at the area they thought it was in. And it wasn’t there as those were storm door handles. Anyway, I’ll stick to the others.

Home Depot: Internet purchase folly.
I needed several items for my home including 3 toilets. I did not want/​or couldn’t shop in store, so I went online– of course, simple right? Well not exactly, I did find what I wanted, 3 toilets. Then I tried to find «toilet installations» (as Home Depot advertises how easy it is to get things installed), here things got complicated. First thing I see on the installation page is another phone number (a telephone «tree»!) to call, and which sent me to another number which began to get me totally frustrated and ended up being the local store. I was told that since I had purchased the toilets «on the Internet» and sent the toilets to the store, they would charge me $ 25.00 each for my installers to pick up the toilets which floored me. So their $ 79.00 installation fee per toilet would cost me $ 75.00 more! I could not believe this on top of buying near or over $ 1,000.00 in merchandise that day. We picked up the toilets. Then one of my new toilets sprouted a leak and the plumber who installed it came twice to figure out what was going on and fix it. He finally told me it may be a defect. It was leaking when he left. We were already upset that HD would have charged us a $ 25.00 handling charge? So I did not want to deal with them over this, but I believed I had no choice, I called and talked to the service department– and was told– since I had made the purchased «ONLINE», the options were to bring in the toilet and purchase one «in stock» (and repay for it to be installed by my plumber or them)! When I questioned a fair trade for a defective toilet and a new one off the floor, the service person said that the Internet purchase «people/​real entity???» MAY give me a Percentage of my purchase! Again– disbelief! I felt I was really getting the royal runaround! What about the policy of merchantability being blatantly ignored? When I called the «internet people» I tried to go as far as I could go, I received the same kind of talk about a «partial/​possible/​percentage reimbursement. At that point I asked for the corporate offices number. I was exhausted, frustrated and mad. I had spent hours trying to get this store to say, ok, bring in the defective toilet and we will give you a replacement — we stand by our products! No such words were ever uttered to me, a longtime and «valued customer» who has spent at lot money at their stores– I never did. By some luck or good karma after a week or so my toilet stopped leaking on its own. Oh thank goodness I don’t have to deal with HD. I’m going to Lowe’s or maybe better, my neighborhood hardware store.

Need stuff to fix your house? Need stuff to fix your yard? Need stuff to eradicate an infestation of some sort? Just want to buy something gas-​powered that can rip apart solid steel? Go to Home Depot, then!
I have never been disappointed here and will continue to go to this store as long as the customer service, selection, and prices stay what they are now (see my tips for specifics). Good job HD crew! You have made a customer for life out of me!

This place is awful! They charged my card without my consent. Someone used a fake name a fake address and placed a phone order. I went down there in person to see what happened they stated that it was a phone order. Even though the item had not been given to the person who stole my identity they still will not reverse the charges. Now I’m out $ 600 and I can’t afford rent for the month. Worst of all even though I told him that this was a fraudulent charge they still gave the customer that stole my identity the item that they ordered over the phone. Horrible service rude staff I will never go back. If you like having your credit card information stolen then this is the place for you! Lowes and Home Depot — compare and contrast.
Both have more hardware than you’ll ever need in your lifetime.
Both have some of the best self checkout operations in the retail industry.
Both have very friendly and useful staff that go out of their way to help you.
Lowes typically has exactly what I need and their merchandise tends to work better for me.
Home Depots tend to be in more convenient locations.
Home Depot has an easy and fast returns counter.
Both have hot dog stands.
Both allow you to get a lot of exercise when you’re walking through their huge stores.

Home Depot has stuff. I will give them that. Just about anything you’d ever want to improve your home, they have. Checkout is quick, the employees are all friendly.
But just try finding one when you need one. Either they are grossly understaffed or every time I’m in there everybody’s called in sick.
The place is huge, so you have to wander around forever before you find what you’re looking for. On the other hand, on more than one occasion I’ve found something I didn’t know I needed when I’m searching for something I do need.
Hey, maybe that’s their strategy!

We came in to buy a new faucet for the kitchen. Didn’t feel like it was going to be too much of a hassle.
The selection was large! My wife and I stood in the faucet isle for at least 30 minutes, going back and forth about what we should get.
We had several employees ask to come and give some advice. We took some suggestions, but overall we had to just make a decision. The employees tried to guide us in the right direction as to what would work with how many holes we had in the sink.
Once we got home, I discovered that we could not use the faucet that we bought due to the fact that we had a dishwasher vent. I called and talked to two different people on the phone about this problem. Neither were able to help me.
Frustrated, we headed back to the home depot. We found two different people to help us this time. Picking their brains about what we could do diifferent. One guy suggested that we could re-​route the dishwasher vent, while another man told my wife there was no way of doing that.
Instead of making a big deal, we just returned the faucet we bought, and picked another that would work with the dishwasher vent.
Good service the first time, pretty good service the second time. We always seem to have to go back more than once.
I would suggest this home depot. They did what they could to help us. They do have a pretty large selection of whatever it is to choose from.

This place is a dream come true for a can’t sit still, youtube project loving girl like me. They have everything you need for all of your projects and helpful staff. It really seems like the floor staff really enjoy their jobs. They are seriously always ready to help out and talk about whatever you’re working on.

I’m just like my Dad — I judge a home improvement project’s complexity on the number of Home Depot trips you had to make to finish it. One trip = easy, peasy. 4+ trips = difficult. I’ve had a handful of projects of all difficulties and to say I frequent Home Depot is an understatement.
I usually find what I need fairly quickly, but on the chance that I don’t know where something is, someone can usually point you in the right direction or find someone that does know. I also like that it’s super close to my house which is great when that difficult project keeps increasing the number of Home Depot trips. Also, I love that they allow dogs (this might be all Home Depots). I like to bring my dog places just to get him out and about and not just on his normal walk. All the employees light up when they see a dog walking through.
I’ve had a couple of gripes with Home Depot though:
1) The time we just wanted a gallon of paint. We waited at the paint desk for about 5 minutes, but no one was around or came up to help us. We had customer service call for the person who was working paint. Another 5 minutes, no one showed up. Customer Service called gain. 5 more minutes and still no one. Finally, someone who hardly ever works paint came to help us and was very apologetic about the wait and that whoever was supposed to be working the desk never showed up. This guy was so friendly and even gave us a 10% discount on our purchase. This is the only time we’ve ever had an issue with paint — there is normally somebody there ready to help you out.
2) They make keys, but don’t expect anything fancy. We have a U-​Haul brand padlock on our side fence and I wanted to get a key made for parents and brother. But they didn’t have the key to match.
3) Sprinkler parts are kind of lacking. It seems like they have a lot, but there’s always some joint or head that we need that they don’t have.

Stopped in today for some hardware to string up a triangle patio shade. Employees were few and far between, even overheard an employee telling another customer some call-​ins caused the staff shortage. I didn’t need any help on this visit so that wasn’t an issue for me.
I was able to find all of the necessary hardware on my own and even stumbled on a cool ‘carabiner’ type attachment for those of us that don’t know how to tie an assortment of knots. It enables us non boy scout folk to string up anything without having to tie a knot! Cool stuff. Prices were reasonable and stock was plentiful, I could have hung 10 of them if I needed to. They are nearly right up the street from me so convenience couldn’t be better. They will always be at the top of my list for home improvement products.

Actual interaction with employee:
HD: Can I help you?
ME: I need something to lock my helmet to my scooter. It has to be a hook that will attach with one screw so that I can use the existing mount location. Here is the helmet I want to lock.
HD: What kind of scooter is it for?
ME: It is like a small motorcycle.
HD: You mean like a scooter like this? (Makes motorcycle motions with hands) Or like the other kind?
ME: It is like a small motorcycle, like a Vespa.
HD: (Repeats the same question.)
ME: IT IS LIKE A SMALL MOTORCYCLE. (Fuck, really??)
Repeat same questions two more times.
HD: You mean like a Harley? You should get a Harley.
ME: (explains request again.)
HD: points to padlocks.
ME: No, that is a padlock. I want a locking hook.
HD: You know, a lot of scooter drivers get really close to cars. They get right on them. Do you do that? You’re going to get killed.
ME: No. I need a hook that locks.
HD: A lot of motorcycles just get right up on those cars. Right up on ‘em. They’re going to get killed driving like that. You don’t drive like that, do you? Because if you do, you’re going to get killed.
ME: I just came in because I want a locking hook. I couldn’t find any online so I thought maybe I could make one.
HD: You have to be careful not to drive too close. A lot of people on those scooters are going to get themselves killed.
ME: I’ve had about enough of this. .
The moral of the story: if you want bad advice, harassment about your fictional driving skills given by a semi-​retarded minimum wage employee, Home Depot is the store for you. Bonus: you’re going to get killed!

This store usually has what I am looking for and always someone asks if they can help.
Although I like the feel of the Lowes not far from here better, it still is a decent store and offers all that one needs for home and garden, usually ;-{)

Home Depots are home depots. they have the usual stuff, and the same lay out as every other store.
But seeing as I live right in between the two Home Depots in Reno, I always choose this one.
They generally have more knowledgable staff, we had to order a custom door, and it arrived perfectly with no errors.
It is also usually a bit less crowded than the west reno location, always a plus!
And its near a bunch of other stores, so if you need to run other errands, its a convenient location.
I am not a fan of their garden collection though, the west reno location has better landscaping supplies.

As much as I love Carter Brothers Ace Hardware in Midtown (and I do), this particular Home Depot location happens to be a lot closer to me and offers several advantages.
First up, they’re open until 10pm. That may not sound terribly important, but being able to scoot over there in the late evening has saved me mid-​project more than once.
Second, their return policy is among the best of any retail chain. I make use of a Home Depot store credit account, which means even if I’ve forgotten/​lost a receipt, I can still return any item and have it easily and quickly credited back to my account with no fuss.
Third, you can actually shop using the website and then just drop by the store and pick up your order from the customer service counter. Don’t have time to wander the aisles? This option is perfect if you’re in a hurry!
Now, nothing is perfect, and Home Depot certainly has some flaws. On occasion I’ve encountered staffers who either ignore me or who are ill-​equipped to assist with a given query. Not often, but it has happened a couple times. Another interesting flaw is that, despite the size of these «Big Box» stores, they don’t actually have EVERYTHING I might be looking for.
Seriously, I’ve gone to that store trying to find a very specific part/​tool/​supply on more than one occasion, only to find they don’t carry it. Whenever this has happened, I’ve almost always been able to find that odd item at Carter Brothers, so that’s when I make the drive and give them a visit. Plus, I’ve never had anything but outstanding, friendly service at that Midtown shop.
One last note: on a couple occasions I’ve purchased appliances from Home Depot and had nothing but great service. Their appliance sales staff don’t get paid commission, so there’s no high pressure sales pitch AND they actually seem interested in making sure you’re getting the unit you really want/​need.
But the best part is the delivery staff. Those guys are really efficient, with great attention to detail during delivery and install. Can’t say enough good things about this aspect of shopping at Home Depot; it’s now the first place I check when considering a new appliance or other home improvement project.

This is actually a review for the carpet installers Home Depot assigned to us. The overall carpet buying experience was mixed, with a little confusion on their side (information not being logged properly with our order), but overall friendly and helpful.
The install on the other hand was a nightmare. We were doing it on a second property, and I was not on site. Right off the bat the guy said he wouldn’t start unless someone was there to sign off when he was done. We had contractors I trust going in and out, so I assured him someone would be there, but it still took a lot of arm twisting for him to get going. In the end I asked him what sort of assurance he needed (the contractor had been there on time to let him in already) and he couldn’t say, so he finally started the job — not a great start. We did get his job signed off, but unfortunately my contractor went home sick and sent a replacement who signed as asked. Had it been me or my contractor we would not have signed off.
The installation itself was okay, but they kind of trashed the place. It was newly painted and scuff marks on the base boards was somewhat expected, but the extent of the damage to the paint seemed excessive, and wasn’t limited to the baseboards. There was several hundred dollars worth of paneling (not much, but VERY expensive redwood that you just can’t get anymore) that was just dumped out front in the snow. Doors were removed in the closets and were not rehung.
I would never trust these guys in my home again without constant supervision.

I went and someone helped me right away. A few minuets later I asked if they could check if another store had my item and they called right away. Overall, I was very impressed and can see why significant other loves this place.

I came here to pick up last minute Burning Man supplies. The store is HUGE, so I’m glad there were plenty of staff around to point me in the right direction or else I would have killed 3 hours just wandering around uselessly. I needed 10 foot PVC pipes cut down to 7 feet, and they were able to do that in a few minutes. Prices were fair too, considering you could just grab so many different items in one location.
They have a section set up just for people looking for Burning Man supplies, and although I already had what they had in stock in this section, I know it will be helpful for others. They even had an international map set up and asked you to put a pin in your hometown location. Nice idea!
