The Grove At Southcreek

The Grove was amazing. I was there for a memorial service and the help couldn’t be more wonderful. The site coordinator, Jennifer was extremely approachable and helpful. Her staff, Emily and Casey, the same. All three ladies were lovely and a joy under the unfortunate circumstances.

Highest rating for good reason. The Grove was the perfect setting for my daughter’s wedding. Location, architectural style, outdoor patio, lighting, & amenities. The bar and catering are not only reasonable, but delicious and ample.
What a beautiful canvass for a special day! The huge windows with the lights on the trees as a background, very high ceilings, glass wall view and use of the patio with pergola with café string lights above is designed to compliment any event.
The staff is an extra bonus! Ruthie, Gigi, and Jennifer really know this business, and are very friendly and knowledgeable with answers to EVERY question and contingency.
The event for my only daughter’s wedding on New Year’s Eve was magical. The venue is perfect to decorate to any bride’s imagination or vision. The fireplace with a roaring fire, large dance floor, all draped in lights and fabric surrounded by as many tables in styles as we needed, with chairs and covers, and cocktail stations. The help staff, including bar were efficient and wonderful, and the chef and food were excellent, making for magical memories and the perfect wedding!

From the moment we first met with Gigi and Ruthie at the Grove till the end when our wedding was over, we knew we made the right choice. They coordinate everything so well with other vendors and have practically everything you need that it makes planning your wedding easy. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is inviting and the location is great. There is plenty of parking for your guests as well. Jen our wedding coordinator took care of everything the day of and we didn’t have to worry about a thing.

I attended a wedding here. The venue is lovely.
Now for the reasons I’m doing my review:
1. I came to celebrate my friends ceremony. The vows are the center point of all weddings.
There was no sound system so the vows weren’t heard at all.
Fortunately the officiant had a booming voice. But I wasn’t there to see the officiant. I was there for my friends.
The couple chose a single violin to bring the party down the aisle.
Again: no sound system.
2. The bride, her Mom and her sister all have food allergies.
So do I. (90 day food allergy testing. Fun times.)
How excited I was when I read that the reception would be gluten/​dairy/​shellfish free!
How excited I was to have not one but 3 amazing gluten free rolls.
How excited my table mates were to also have not one but 3 each amazing gluten free rolls!
When I expressed my excitement to the bride she made a face. «I just found out these weren’t gluten free.»
WHAT.THE.MUTHA…
Twenty four hours later I had to leave an event due to my own personal reactions to the gluten.
I spent most of the weekend doubled over in intestinal pain.
Here’s what happens to me with gluten:
–Joint ache
–Intestinal distress as in don’t be away from a toilet for the next 12 – 24 hours
–Lack of hand circulation
–Brain cloud
–Dizzy spells that are still occurring.
It’s my understanding from the couple that they made it very clear about the allergins.
As an officiant I’m asked about venues all the time.
Until sound and food issues are resolved I won’t be recommending The Grove.
BTW: there were others that have had reactions.

Very nice large property. The sound system sucks though making it impossible to hear speakers. The setting is lovely and this is a very nice place for large parties if you don’t have to hear speakers. Very echo-​y.

GORGEOUS venue that can stand well on its own before the decorations even go through the door. The outdoor patio with the wooden pergola was my favorite and I love how the bride had the draping flowing in the wind. about a 100 guests at the wedding and it fit no problem.

Just had a great corporate event at The Grove. The venue was reasonably priced for a gorgeous space. The food was amazing, and also a good value. The staff was great to work with and made all requested accommodations for our group. I have booked events at many 4 and 5 star hotels across the U.S., and this team was top notch. The A/​V functioned without a hitch, the service was attentive, and the whole event was as smooth as silk. They invited me for a tasting before the event, and I was thoroughly impressed with the fresh and innovative cuisine. My group raved about the food, in particular. House made granola bars were a big hit at the AM break, and the Tex-​Mex lunch buffet was fresh, light and flavorful. I am recommending The Grove to all of my colleagues and friends who plan events. Great job, great team!

The staff goes above and beyond to help and answer any and all questions, no matter how trivial they may seem.

What event did I attend at The Grove? Oh, you know, just my wedding. Haha.
So many great things I could say about The Grove and their staff. I really don’t have any complaints. Everyone was so willing to help us in any way. They swore up and down I wasn’t bugging them when I’m sure that I was. They even let me do a picture that I found on Pinterest that included me sitting on the bar.
The fact that they did their own catering, had their own bar, and were able to provide linens in my colors for no extra charge, made my day so much simpler. And speaking of their catering… oh my gawd! Why are they not a restaurant?!? Oh and when we signed up they gave us a list of vendors that they’ve worked with that was so incredibly helpful.
I can’t wait to attend other events here and see how they handle fundraisers.

I came here today, for the 2014 Baby Expo! It is located just off of Virginia Street, in the nicest, little shopping center. There are a couple restaurants, a med-​spa, salon and stores surrounding it. But this venue, itself, is beautiful. The inside, as well as, the outside is spacious. (Bigger than you would think, that is for sure!) I loved the patio area. It had just enough covering, so that you were able to get some shade and some sun. There were a ton of vendors, at the Baby Expo, and yet they still managed to find walking room, for everybody (Parents and kids galore.) I didn’t actually get to experience other parts of this venue besides attending the above mentioned event and walking around, but it was a lovely venue! I can totally see why it is a popular pick for Weddings in the Reno/​Sparks area. I would love to come back to attend another event here in the future!

Need a venue to host a talk, dinner, or special event? The Grove should be on your list of places to check out. I came this past Wednesday to attend a talk by Bob Burg based on his book «Adversaries into Allies». The talk was exceptional, the event space was well organized, and the staff pleasant and professional. Typically when I think of event spaces for these types of things, my mind goes to ballroom immediately, which leads me to imagine dark, windowless dungeons with extreme temps (hot or cold), forcing attendees to caffeinate heavily to keep their eyelids from closing on me during the presentations.
The Grove is absolutely anything but that. The main event room is a big open space with very large windows that bring in a ton of natural light to brighten up the room. For me though, as a constant day dreamer, the windows give me a real connection to the outside world, and a place for my mind to wander while listening to a talk or presentation.
The landscaping is really what makes this place special though. The entire outside of the main room is lined with beautiful trees and shrubs, which, unfortunately were leafless due to the winter. With their placements right out the window though, I could see this space really coming alive, with an outside on the inside feel when they fill out in the spring and summer seasons.
All in all, it was a great venue to visit and one I’d love to see host a party or gala in the future.

I haven’t had a chance to DJ there very much – but I hear they are a fantastic place to have your wedding and reception. The food if I remember when I DID work there was fantastic! …the overall venue is beautiful.

Did the music and emcee work for my cousin’s wedding here last month. It’s a pretty fantastic spot.
The staff is great. Their house system is relatively easy to use. The food was solid. The building is quite nice on it’s own merit, but dresses up well based on your tastes.
Highly recommended event location for the inhabitants of Reno.

The Grove was the venue for my husband’s holiday party. I am still raving about their service and food. A catered event for 70+ people rarely can be considered great food, but the Grove knocked it out of the park. Filet mignon, cooked a perfect medium rare, seasoned just right, and plated beautifully — simply impressive! The servers were quick with wine refills and clearing away plates, and they were all pleasant. The building itself is beautiful, and the decorations were festive. What an amazing place for a memorable event.

I attended an event at the grove this summer and was impressed! It was my first time at the venue and I was excited to see what they had to offer. The event was a sit down dinner party for about 200 people and they handled the large crowd with grace and ease. The staff did a nice job passing appetizers before the dinner and offering drinks. The server at our table was very professional. The food arrived hot and was delicious! It is great to see a venue of this nature in Reno.

Wedding customers beware of this place. Very bad customer service and poor communications throughout the whole wedding and pre-​planning process.
We had our wedding at this place in September of 2013. If you have the option, I would not select this place. We experienced various levels of messed up communications and the contract changed, which costed us another $ 5000 to host our wedding at this venue. They also fired the Grove’s event coordinator one days before our wedding, the fill in event coordinator called in sick the day our our wedding, so the head chef was in charge of the event, which it didn’t flow that smoothly. Luckily we hired a very good DJ that made things flow smoothly and added to the success of our wedding.
Here is a short punch list:
No event coordinator provided, even though the contract stated there would be one provided by the venue.
They will force you into a contract for over a year out.
Staff stated they would serve the cake, this never happened.
We were told we could hang up our own decorations, then they came back a month before our wedding and stated that we had to pay a contractor, which costs us an additional 250.00. This was not disclosed in the contract and they were no willing to pay for the added charge.
The sample tasting was suppose to be covered with our wedding, they came back and made us pay for our own tasting which cost an additional 200.00.
One year from the beginning of our event, they stated that we could purchase our own alcohol (beer and wine from local wineries and breweries), three months before our wedding they changed their mind and stated we had to buy all of our alcohol through them. A keg of beer costs us 650.00, ouch. This added at least another 1400.00 to our wedding costs.
I could go on and on, but its just not worth your time our mine.
Avoid this place at all cost, you will get crappy customer service and it will literally cost you an arm and a leg. Private message me if you have any specific questions.

Find another venue for your wedding, this is not the place. We were NOT pleased at all. Parents of the bride.
The food was EXCELLENT. That is where it stops. The outside venue faces the parking lot so you see «Uncle Joe» parking and coming in late right next to bride and groom during their vows. They told they would handle any problems before I even noticed, candles were not lit on the tables, alcohol was served when we told them not to, no mater who paid for it and a host of other details.
THEY DO NOT SERVE THE CAKE! Thats right, they cut it up and leave it on the table in the back of the room. Less than a fourth of the cake was eaten and the cake table was not dressed in the linen around the bottom of the cake. The hostess left early, and were rude to my vendors. The sound system did not work well.
The wedding was beautiful, my daughter did not know of many of the problems so she had her wonderful dream day. Parents save yourself a lot of stress and find someplace else for your Princess to get married.

After visiting multiple places, we decided on The Grove for our wedding venue about 1 ½ years before we got married. Even after working with the staff for that long, I was never disappointed. I was slightly worried when our contact quit unexpectedly, but was told that Ruthie (our new contact person) had worked there since it opened and she would be great. And, I was not disappointed! As a bride, I felt like she answered every single one of my questions quickly and effectively (even giving me advice, insights, and suggestions on what she had seen done and how we could make our wedding even more wonderful). I never felt like I was bothering her and she made sure that everything would run smoothly even though she wouldn’t be our person the night of the wedding.
One of the major selling points for me was that The Grove did the bar, the catering, the linens, the set-​up, the clean-​up, etc. and for a nominal fee even provided us with seat covers and set them up for us (as long as we used the ones they provided). After seeing many weddings of friends where they were talking with multiple different vendors, I felt much more confident in the wedding knowing that The Grove would be handling everything for us.
The food is one of the amazing selling points of The Grove as well. We did a tasting before the wedding to try to figure out the chicken and vegetarian option. We ended up with New York Steak, Chicken Buerre Blanc, and Eggplant Parmesan. All of them were excellent and we had many people echo that sentiment (so I know that it wasn’t just us!). They were also very good about food restrictions (we had a few people who couldn’t eat gluten as well as many kids meal options). As we were running ahead of schedule the night of the wedding, the kitchen staff was even able to get our dinner out ahead of schedule.
Before our rehearsal, we were only dealing with Ruthie and hadn’t met our contact person for the wedding day. While I had dealt exclusively with Ruthie up to that point, I felt like there were a few things that fell through the crack. I don’t feel like this was an oversight on Ruthie’s side (you should have seen the folder she had for our wedding!), but a lack of preparation for the day-​of-​coordinator (or just not reading closely enough). We had a slide show that was playing during dinner and was supposed to be up on the big screen behind us. It was not when we sat down, but was soon remedied after we brought it to her attention. Additionally, we had bundt cakes that were used as the center pieces and we were also different flavors at each table. This was intended to get people up and moving and mingling to try whichever they wanted. Ruthie was very clear to make sure that we didn’t want the staff cutting and serving the cakes (even e-​mailing me the day before the rehearsal). However, somewhere there was a miscommunication and the staff cut up and served the cakes. This pretty much defeated the purpose of ordering different flavors of cakes. Finally, there were name cards for each person being held up by a photo stand that our guests were to take home with them for their wedding gift. However, when people got up to dance, our day-​of-​coordinator started cleaning the tables and took away about half of the photo stands from people (so they weren’t able to take those home) and we ended up with many people’s wedding gift.
However, due to how amazing Ruthie was and the way that our wedding ended up looking and turning out, I do not hold these things against The Grove. All I can recommend is make sure that you meet with your day-​of-​coordinator before the day-​of and make sure they have looked over your folder and understand what you need and what you are looking for.
By getting married on a Friday night, The Grove allowed us to come to the venue early and set up some last minute decorations to add some color to the wedding. We had bought some fabric to hang up outside (like is seen in the pictures). Know this isn’t an option The Grove provides and does have to be done yourself! However, after everything else they did for us, it was not a problem to do this! Just be aware ahead of time. The outdoor area is already beautiful, but this just adds the final touch! Overall, I would highly recommend The Grove to anyone getting married.

One word: fantastic. We booked with The Grove about one year before the day of our wedding. Ruthie worked closely with us and made sure we were on time with all of our appointments. The day of our wedding the staff did everything they could to ensure that our wedding went off without a hitch. The day-​of coordinator, Julie, was very friendly and helpful and was always available when we needed anything during the event itself.
The food was phenomenal! Some of our guests were picky eaters, including four vegetarians, and The Grove went above and beyond to please everyone’s palates. I would highly recommend booking The Grove as a ceremony and reception site for your wedding.

If I could give negative stars I would. This was the worst venue experience of my life.
First they changed my contract without telling me. I found out when I called a few months before my wedding to find out why I hadn’t heard from them only to find that they scheduled a brunch the day of my wedding. Now my contract time of 9am was changed to 2:30pm. Thank goodness I had changed my ceremony time to five.
I was also told there would be people there to help me set up and decorate and there was no one. My mother did all of the decorating her self.
They were late for meetings and didn’t communicate what was said in meetings to other members of the staff. They could barely remember what I had said to them in previous meetings and emails. Each meeting was like talking to someone new and starting over each time.
They totally messed up the ceremony music even after I had explained it twice.
During dinner, one whole table didn’t get a first course (it was only a two course meal). They threw out most of my wedding cake. No one in the bridal party even got a piece of cake.
They then charged my credit card without permission and won’t even apologize for the day’s events or refund me any money. It’s a pretty venue but not worth the headache and pain of a wedding being completely ruined. I would not recommend this to anyone and say stay away!
