Good place to live in. Quiet. Beautiful area. I just dont like the staff in the office. I’ve been very kind in talking to them and asking simple request and they are all like looking at me from head to toe like I feel I don’t have the right to ask them. I know this is mean and very small issue. But just right now… I really need badly to print out something today. I even called them before I go to their office if its ok to print and if there’s any fee. and it’s more convenient if i’ll just go to their office. so Katrina said its ok. sure. you can come in we close at 6pm. Then I went there. tried to print out. their printer is not working… one lady offered to send it to their email to try to print it out. then she left… so I was waiting there for nothing… until I went back to talk to a staff. i dont remember if that is Katrina. then she tried to print it out as well… then she said. «Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot our printer’s not working». Are you freakin’ kidding me??? I’m not a person who complains and I am very patient. but really??? Is that your customer service??? For 1350 monthly rent… that’s how ur gonna treat your tenants? Or just me coz I have different color and nationality???

My wife and I have lived at The Alexander for four years. We absolutely love this place-​! The sense of community, the luxury feel, and the incredible office staff (Jenilee Parker, Katrina Esparza, Marissa Perea, and Akelah Lee) are all fantastic-​! The grounds are kept immaculate and the maintenance guys are immediate and skilled-​! One of the best parts of living here, besides the clubhouse and pool area is the fact they are so pet friendly… Potty stations are kept nice and most of the families that live here have dogs-​! I have two and they LOVE their walks; the great times spent with their other dog friends-​! We thought of buying another house but we simply love it here so we are signing another lease this week.

I have lived here for quite some time, and love it here. The upgrades in the apartments makes it feel like home. Definitely not like your typical, run of the mill apartment. Ricardo and his crew are amazing, keeping the grounds and pool pristine. They take such pride in their work, and it shows. And the girls in the office are always helpful, and address issues pretty quickly. My only wish is that there was a «kids» pool so the adults could have a quiet setting after a long work week.

I have been living here for 9 months and just love it. The grounds are gorgeous and the apartments so fabulous with laminate flooring, full size washer and dryers in a spacious laundry room located inside your unit. They also have full size refrigerators with ice and water dispenser! The bathrooms are huge! The staff is very friendly and so are most of it’s occupants. They always have dog treats readily available when you go into the club house and my little shitzu Chopper just goes crazy for the staff and treats every time. The garages are just as spacious! Crown molding throughout the apartment. Did I say how big the bathrooms are!!! Huge!!! They keep the grounds very clean. Hands down the best apartment I have ever had the privilege of renting.

I’m two days into my one year lease and I have failed to find value here. While the model apartments are beautiful, the grounds are beautiful, the pool is beautiful… little else is working correctly. I arrived at my unit on move in day to find pink and black mold in the master bathroom. The dishwasher drain was plugged and the backflow in the sink sprayed water all over the kitchen. Three of the four burners smoked to the point that I turned them off. And this is night one… the apartment is in such poor condition, I ended up cooking my dinner on my camp stove.
I went to the office with my concerns and was asked, «did you fill out the form» and «since your here, I guess I will listen to you». The staff member expressed zero concern for the issues I had with apartment and was clearly annoyed that I would bother her with ‘my’ issues. When I told her the shower head had a leak (thus the moldy shower upon move in) she asked, ‘does it leak when the water is off?’. Yes, that is the definition of a leak…
The manager I spoke with had maintenance go to my unit and fix a couple things very quickly. It was a positive step, but I’m going to have to time my visits to the office to ensure I see the right staff members, some of whom are awesome and helpful. There are other issues I’ve encountered with other tenants, but I’m hoping the issues are not systemic.
I will keep you updated as the year goes on.

There are many detailed reviews listed here with all the pros and cons. It would make no difference if I rewrite all of them. What I would like to conclude here is that The Alexander complex is a gorgeous place. Ladies in the office and the maintenance team go above and beyond to keep it clean, beautiful and comfortable for the renters.
I truly appreciate all their hard work. They put awesome decorations for every holiday in a club house. Plus, they organize get together events with delicious food.
Beautiful warm pool through the year, hot tub, mini-​gym, spinning class room, yoga/​pilates room, office room, free Wi-​Fi, 7 TVs, sauna, free Starbucks coffee, movie room, pool table and more in the gorgeous club house.
Location is very convenient. It is close to Mt. Rose, Summit mall, South Rec and US 395.

Predatory financial practices by new aggressive management and owners cost us an arm and a leg after living here four years. They rent to anyone now, so expect college parties on the weekends, lack of parking and be sure to take your ampicillin meds after you enter the very small and crowded pool area. Cars will be keyed, this was told to us by countless neighbors who moved out, happened to three of our vehicles. Way way over priced and the insulation and noises from the garage doors will give you a startle in the early mornings. If you do make the mistake of moving here, no matter what they say about your deposit, they will keep it and figure out how to milk you for more dollars without conscience, and without a blink of an eye. You ‘be been warned.

I took a tour here when I first moved because at the time, this had very high reviews everywhere. I do not get the appeal. I love being around trees and greenery and you do not have that here. Everything is concrete and the living is too close. I need privacy and know I wouldn’t get it here. I thought they were charging way too much too. Don’t get me wrong. Inside the apartments are very nice, but it was overpriced, had an cold look to it, and just wasn’t anything special.

I have to update my review. The Alexander is under new management. After a lengthy discussion with the new team there, we were able to come to an understanding regarding our move out concerns and fees from last year.
At this point, I have to say the new management seems very concerned about tenants as well as making clear efforts to make things better for those past and present. We really appreciate them reaching out to us and working with us to make our experience better.
What we liked about living here was the ease of parking, access to the freeway, close to shopping and restaurants…
The buildings, interior and hardware/​décor was great. The gym was very convenient. Never used the pool… but it looked nice – rarely packed. Computer room was definitely a plus and we had to print things many times, so convenient! Relative to other apartments/​complexes in town, I think Alexander is up there with the best of them.
Now that there is new management, we would consider living here again.

I lived at The Alexander for a year. I can say that I had a pretty enjoyable time residing there without any major issues from staff, neighbors, etc. I will go into pros and cons and end with a few tips to help if you live there or are deciding to move there.
PROS
— Well appointed units with pleasant 2 tone wall colors with accent wall, granite countertops, tall (er) ceilings, cherry cabinetry, crown molding, faux fireplace with hearth, and a large sized balcony.
— Apartment grounds are very well maintained and very nicely landscaped.
— Maintenance staff is very friendly and helpful.
— Gorgeous clubhouse to enjoy.
— Jacuzzi and Pool open year round with 12am closing hours.
— Basketball court should you want to shoot some hoops.
— Doggie potty areas with bags provided to clean up after your fur friend.
— Close proximity to shopping and dining options.
— Close proximity to the freeway for quick access around town.
— Really easy to work with leasing staff.
— Units well maintained.
CONS
— Pricey lease options.
— Outrageous water, sewer, and trash costs. Several admin and gov fees. Inadequate payment options with more fees.
— Tightly packed complex.
— Most tenants complained about inadequate access to close-​by parking (I parked in my garage with no notable issues with guest parking).
— Significant road noise from S. Virginia Street and Interstate-​580.
— Some dog owners refused to pick up after their pet’s excrement.
— Jacuzzi always packed except in the winter.
— You are guaranteed to hear your upstairs neighbor walking, watching TV, copulating, etc.
— Leasing staff, while extremely nice, overlook important details in lease agreements and in my end-​of-​lease closing.
— Stairwells are difficult to get furniture up and down.
TIPS
— Security will kick you out of the pool area if you stay past 12am… so leave a few mins prior to closing.
— Double triple check your lease agreement and end-​of-​lease closing settlement statement (They wanted $ 50 to settle the lease agreement, but when I checked the statement I found they owed me $ 250).
— Try to find a unit with a balcony that doesn’t look into each-​other, and has adequate parking.
— Pay your rent with a check to avoid fees.
CLOSING
I would probably lease at The Alexander again provided I could live in the same building… we all got a long very well and I attribute that to an overall great experience.

Do not rent here! The office people are rude and do not care about you. The office manager Jennifer– lee will lie to you about your contract and services they perform. She will threaten you with legal services if she does not like what you are requesting. Poor management at this location. This place is a complete rip off, they will raise your rent dramatically at the end of your contract, they don’t want long term renters here. I will never rent from them, and If I can help you in any way take my advise DONT RENT HERE!

I almost didn’t rent here because of the mixed reviews I read so I feel obliged to weigh in if it helps someone else. There is a lot of truth in both the good and the bad reviews. That said, for me personally the good outweighs the bad.
Pros:
–Location is great — you are within 5 miles of everything that matters if you must live in Reno. Within two of almost any necessity you can think of.
— The apartments themselves are gorgeous. Crown molding throughout, shutters instead of blinds, double french doors, granite countertops, fireplace, the community center is AMAZING, I could go on and on. You are definitely living in luxury. I love being inside my apartment. Visitors have commented on how beautiful it is as wel.
— Clubhouse amenities. I have lived in apartment complexes for a long time. I’ve never used the clubhouse amenities, I usually find them silly. Not this place! I can’t even describe it, you should see it for yourself. You will actually use these.
— Unit size. My 1 bedroom apartment is 900 square feet. I have never had a one bedroom this large. It’s awesome.
Cons:
— The walls are thinner than they should be. I am on the top floor (third), so my experiences are probably better than others. My neighbors are relatively quiet, but I have thought on bad days about how I could get rid of the barking dog whose apartment is on the other side of mine.
— Carmax is being built next door. Ok, that is a short term problem, but it is super annoying to hear the construction noise every single morning.
— For all of the luxury amenities that are included, why on earth did they buy such cheap washing machines? That thing sounds like it is going to explode and crash through the next floor. It won’t, but it’s super annoying.
— Closet space. That was poorly designed. For how big the unit is, they could have squeezed in an additional closet. It’s not an issue for me, as I don’t have many things, but I can definitely see how it would be an issue for others.
— 13 month lease. Somehow, someway, you will get stuck in a 13 month lease instead of a 12 month lease.
Inbetweens:
Parking — It’s not an issue for me, even late at night I have been able to find parking, but I am on an end building close to a big row of parking.
Pool — I can’t decide if this is good or bad. Management actually comes out and tallies everyone who is there during the day. It’s kind of annoying, but maybe it’s good to limit unauthorized access. I can’t decide yet.
Overall — it’s a great place. I am glad I live here. But just like anything else in life, it has its downsides. You will never get everything you want.

My boyfriend and I are looking for an apartment.
First we looked at the reviews online and alot of people we moving out because of the maintainance staff and manager’s staff.
When we went there, we walked in and the girl in the office saw us but didn’t even come out to greet us. I had to go in the office and say «hi». She seemed nice and she was smiling but that’s just the first part of the story.
We toured the 1 Bed 1 Bath apartment and it was nice, but I was asking questions. I asked if you could store stuff in your garage and she said yes and there is a storage closet in there. Lie! From the reviews, the managers check your garages and make sure you don’t store anything in there except your car. Still on the tour, it was really short, and then she started to get quiet and had simple short answers for my questions.
We got back to her desk and she sounded like she wanted our tour to be over with. I told her I had more questions and she said «ok». The question about crime, break ins, vandalism, etc. She said she wasn’t allowed to tell us and we would have to go through a 911-​emergency system to find out. Yeah, come on? There is something wrong there. All of my friends at work and the reviews I read all said that the Alexander had crime, trailer park vandalism, broken windows, keying of cars, rude neighbors and the staff didn’t do anything.
My boyfriend and I talked about it afterwards and we both had the same feelings (we didn’t matter). She acted dismissive and like she didn’t care. Seriously, if the tour guide is going to act like that to future residents, then it will be worse if we are residents. She wasn’t selling the place, she was snobby, snooty and acted like she was better. News flash honey, you work in an apartment complex. After that, we knocked the Alexander right off our list. I won’t be treated like that.

Lived here for almost eleven months now and am marking the days on my calendar until I can finally get out of this awful place. I would not recommend living here to my worst enemy. There are just so many things wrong with this complex it is sicking. Lets start with the management. They are a bunch of stuck up broads who think they are big shots. News flash you work at an apartment complex… We have been lied to by them many many times, including about our lease agreement. When being shown the apartment the first time, we asked some pretty simple questions that couldn’t even get answered correctly. We were told that they do 6 month leases, we later found out thats a lie (when we were finally about to ink the lease). Next we were told its going to be a 12 month lease… another lie. Turns out it was a 13 months. At that point I was really hesitant to sign but they assured us that if we wanted out after 12 they would allow it. Turns out that was a lie. They will tell you ANYTHING to get you to sign that lease so be VERY skeptical.
Another thing that has left a bad taste in my mouth happened over the summer. It was a week day and there was no one by the pool. I had my family come visit me from out of town and we were hanging down there. I ended up leaving to get us lunch and within 5 minutes receive a call from my family saying they had been kicked out of the pool. How outrageous is that?
Lets get to the apartments themselves. They are extremely tiny with no storage space. I am on the top floor and can hear the people below me when they walk and talk. Not to mention the freeway behind them which is extremely loud. For being new the appliances are old (electric stove?). The parking situation is also terrible. whoever designed it should be fired.
Overal at first glance this seems to be the place to live… but after living here I DO NOT RECOMMEND it.

This places management is more of a joke then what they charge you to live here. First of all the walls are PAPER THIN. On top of that the neighbors are all intolerant of any noise whatsoever, yes you may be paying 2 grand a month for rent but no your not allowed to listen to any music or turn your TV on loud without being threatened with eviction. The rules and regulations of this place are ridiculous and the snobby front desk girls won’t help you with anything. There are no «quiet hours» you can receive a noise complaint at any time of the day. Also you may receive threatening and totally unprofessional phone calls if you do receive a complaint from the leasing manager. Overall this place is not somewhere you want to live. Expensive rent, thin walls, rude neighbors and staff.

We are two months into our lease at the Alexander and are quite pleased with our decision to move here. After not living in an apartment for about 15 years my wife and I were intimidated about the concept of being surrounded by neighbors without the buffer that a residential subdivision offers.
We searched several higher-​end apartment complexes in South Reno. We nearly ended up at the Horizons at South Meadows due to lack of availability at the Alexander, but luckily an apartment opened up for us. The Horizons is nearly the same in pricing, but the apartments are much more cheaply built with formica countertops and cheaper fixtures and appliances. Not to mention their clubhouse is only open during office hours and the pool is not open year round like the Alexander.
The buildings at the Alexander are 3 stories and I wanted to limit the amount of neighbor issues so we settled on a 2^nd floor apartment over garages so we could eliminate one neighbor beneath us. The opening and closing of garage doors can be a bit noisy and some of them need adjustment, but over time it has bothered us less and less. There has been one instance where we had to go ask our neighbor upstairs to turn off their clothes washer at 11pm when it was unbalanced and sounded like it was going to fall through the ceiling. They were polite and happy to oblige. Each apartment has granite countertops throughout and laminate wood flooring. Quality is definitely there compared to what I have known from apartment living in the past.
Our building is on the north end of the property which has a long line of additional parking, so parking is never an issue for us. My wife and I both have large vehicles so we don’t use our garage (which comes with every unit) for parking, but it is a nice space for storage coming from a 3 bedroom home prior. Their policy is that garages are for parking not storage, but seeing the occasional garage door opened I see that it is not strictly enforced. We have had one maintenance request thus far and it was handled the same day.
Office staff is very friendly and helpful and always seem willing to help us with whatever we need. The pool and spa are very nice. We tend to enjoy it later in the evenings when the crowds are less and there are not rambunctious kids to worry about. The clubhouse is open 24×7 and is very nice. There is a full kitchen, large sitting area with a pool table and several large screen TV’s. There is free Starbucks coffee, wifi and vending machines with snacks and drinks you have to pay for.
All in all the Alexander was a great choice for us and has alleviated much of our concerns about returning to apartment living.
So to sum things up:

1. Great location in South Reno.
2. Higher end community, not a lot of riff-​raff.
3. Gated for security.
4. Nicely constructed apartments.
5. Great amenities.

8. Trash service — no hunting for dumpsters.

10. Clubhouse open 24×7.
11. Not a lot of noisy kids running around.

Con’s
1. Little noisy on 2^nd floor. Have noise from garages blow and neighbor footsteps above. Some might say this is typical apartment living, but I would think with modern day construction this could be minimized.
2. Water, sewer & garbage are billed separately and not included in rent.
3. Traffic from US-​395 and S. Virginia are a bit of an annoyance when on the balcony, but can’t be heard from our apartment.
4. Water pressure leaves a little to be desired, but I appreciate the decrease in water bill.

One of the nicest apartments in town — which also makes it one of the most expensive. Expect to be paying at least $ 1,000 for a single bedroom. The rooms could be larger, but the fixtures, flooring, appliances, and countertops are really nice for an apartment. Almost every unit comes with a single-​car garage, and there is a very adequate space set aside for a workbench or storage. The parking is not assigned so if you have guests over, they do not have to stress about where they’re allowed to park. Having gated entrances is nice for peace of mind at night, however it’s very common to see non-​residents just drive in through the exit when someone leaves. Also — a decent community gas grill at the clubhouse — which unfortunately uses propane cylinders which are almost always near empty. The upper floor balconies have a pretty steep downward slope which is pretty annoying. I’m going to have to retrofit furniture just to be level.
Location, Location, Location! Right in between Wal-​Mart and WinCo, next door to Ben’s Liquor, and super close to the freeway, it doesn’t get better than this. Also, south Reno beats any other part of town.
Very friendly and responsive staff & maintenance. Rick gave me a hand the other day getting one of the charcoal grills going. There is a dry-​cleaning company that contracts with The Alexander that I use often — the price is good, and it’s convenient that I only have to walk to the clubhouse to drop off or pick up. The grounds are very well-​kept, and the shrubbery looks very nice!
Heated outdoor pool and Hot Tub Open All Year Long. Pool area used to be open 24/​7, but that didn’t last long with the surrounding neighbors complaining about the noise late at night — which is understandable because at one point, the pool became the Reno hot-​spot for everyone around town, regardless if they knew anyone who lived here or not. During the day in summer — especially on weekends, avoid the pool at all costs — it’s like a kiddy day-​care center where the 600 residents send their kids. At night, the Hot-​Tub turns into a bro convention. If you just want to relax, you have to go super early in the mornings, or any time during winter.
It seems that they’re starting to screen and weed out some of the lower quality residents now that the units are starting to fill up. Something for which I am grateful, although there are still definitely bad neighbors to be found.
I’ve been here for over 2 years now and I am pretty happy with the place, although for the price of a 2-​bedroom, I could just buy my own house and my own hot-​tub.

This place is akin to Monet –good from afar, but far from good! I have 2 people whom I know very well (they are basically family) that live there.
They were lucky enough to get a place that had never been lived in before.
The women in the front office with the exception of 1 or 2 (I don’t know, it has a turnover rate like a revolving door), are super nice when you first come and are checking the place out. Once you’re in, they are as rude and snotty as they come! There is only one who has been consistently nice and «real.»
The layout of the complex alone was not well thought out –at ALL. This is something you realize until you’ve been there.

They boast that they serve free Starbucks coffee… When the people I know first moved in, they had a couple of machines (one that did make «starbucks») in the club house with a nice array of syrups and what not. That quickly turned into a cheap machine whose coffee was worse than 7 – 11, with almost no syrups to choose from. This, I’m pretty sure is largely due to the maintenance crew whom completely took advantage of it every morning. Dating someone who lived there, I was there about 2 – 3 days per week (never the same days) and when we would get up in the morning and go over to get coffee, it never failed that they were always sitting around there, guzzling coffee, watching TV, and reading the news papers, chatting loudly. This would range from between 5am and 8:45. I felt this was extremely unprofessional to allow the maintenance crew to use the club house as an employee «break room.»
Speaking of maintenance crew… there is this one woman in particular who cleans or something. She is the loudest, most obnoxious person EVER. She is incapable of having a quiet, personal conversation. She doesn’t care who is around. She talks about what losers her family members are and all their drama to other employees at the top of her (40+ year smoker’s) lungs, with no regard to the fact that there are residents around, who’s only two options are to either leave or be forced to listen to the latest «WT» drama. Someone needs to get her on Jerry Springer.
The apts look like they’ve been furnished with the latest collection from Wal-​Mart. Mind you, this apartment is brand new –so should the appliances, right? Not sure what discount warehouse they purchased them from, but literally less than 1 month after living there, the drier started making this ear piercing high pitched sound. For 2 more months, we had to keep having them send maintenance over to fix it. It NEVER got fixed. Finally after 2 months, they replaced it… with another one that makes a strange, annoying sound, but at least it’s not ear piercing and somewhat tolerable.
The most recent episode is the «brand new» fridge that spits out WARM water from the spicket and makes creepy noises at night when you’re hanging out watching some TV that sounds like it’s taking a leak!
How about the class of residence? Gotta love it when you go to use the sauna and there’s some 13 yo chick on her knees giving some dude a BJ. When security walks in, neither even flinch… Classic Reno. Or how about the night we were over using the pool with our 6 and 8 year olds, some guy comes banging on the glass door demanding that we let him in saying that he forgot his code key. When we said no (due to the facts
1) he was «demanding» that we let him in,
2) was wearing a white t-​shirt and big baggy jeans that were SO baggy, his pants, held up my a belt and the width of his stance literally only came up to below his butt-​cheeks.)
…threatened to go get his «glock» if we didn’t open the «f*ç%in’ door.
Lovely… I’m sure he is the bastard child of some poor resident working 3 jobs to support their family, but regardless, they need to meet and screen all residents and their dependents.
I think the idea this place was founded on was great! Unfortunately, people have to abuse any and every privilege given them…
I think there are better housing communities around Reno –not with as many amenities, but a safer and more comfortable atmosphere…

I have friends that live here an it’s gorgeous. It’s brand new so the apartments aren’t full yet. They all have garages and the units are big and spacious. They have really pretty fixtures with laminate wood floors, black appliances, granite countertops, bronze hardware, really nice. There club house is GORGEOUS, they have a stand-​up tanning booth, Starbucks coffee machines, large exercise room, sauna, lockers, yoga studio, private screening room, several large TVs a full kitchen and outside they have two large built-​in stainless steel BBQs along with a large pool and hot tub. The pricing is really great for all that you get.
