Sierra Cyclesmith

This bike shop is the perfect example of how a bike shop should be… the staff is friendly, knowledgable and helpful without being pushy or condescending. We recently ordered 2 bikes and we could have easily been labeled demanding customers! Not only were the bikes ordered and built, but the shop had all the gear and accessories we wanted. Furthermore, we brought in an older bike they just never fit well and after a visit, was dialed in perfectly comfortable.
I highly recommend this shop!!!

Bought a MTB a couple of weeks ago. So far (been back four times) it’s been great and I believe it’ll stay that way. The owner fixed my Hybrid bike (bought at another shop) for two bucks, wow, he could’a charged me $ 50 and I wouldn’t have known the difference!

Just purchased a mountain bike from here. It was nice that they had last year’s model of the bike I wanted on demo, so I got to rent it for $ 65 for the day and take it out on the trail to test drive. Then I ended up buying the bike, so they credited the $ 65 back. Excellent!
The bike wasn’t in stock so they special ordered it for me, specialized. Specialized… get it?
Anyway, so far the service has been good and am loving hitting the trails with an awesome new ride!

The hubby told me I could pick out a cruiser bike for my birthday present! I already have 2, but both of them don’t have gears, and I’m super lazy! So gears were a requirement in this cruiser! We head to a few different shops, and look around. Then we come here… There were 2 – 3 sales men, all helping customers. And a few guys working on bikes behind the counter. We browse their cruisers. They had a few out, one had no gears, the others seat didn’t go down low enough for me to fit on it (I’m only 5’3) one of the guys from the back offers to lower the seat for me, it sti won’t go low enough, he then changes out the seat bar so I can fit comfortably, he also let’s me take a ride on the bike, to make sure it fits! I’m in love!!! He says they have a few in the back, and takes me there to see all their styles!!! Nope I love this one! He tunes up the bike, cleans the bike, and throws in a cup holder! I’m sold! I don’t think we will ever go to another bike shop again! The staff was amazing! I never once felt like they were just trying to make a sale! They really just cared that I found the right bike for me!

A bike was dropped off for shipping to Sierra Cycle Smith. They took several weeks to arrange for the transport from Reno to So.Cal. Finally received the wrong bike to my home in San Diego. Called many times, put on hold, dropped call or never returned call. Leon, the manager, will not call back or acknowledge the problem. One of his staff tells me my bike was shipped to someone else. I am hoping this is anomaly and the issue will be resolved soon. Happy to change my review if it resolved.

Sierra cyclesmith is located at 7007 outh virginia street right next to used computer warehouse. First of, the people that work in here are awesome. Very helpful and knowledgeable on bikes. The store is crammed full of bikes and parts, they surely will have what you need. The only reason i gave them 4 stars was they did not cheeck to see if my clip ins fit the pedals, they didn’t. So i had to buy another set of pedals and make another trip down there. Other than that great customer service

My hubby and I have been wanting to purchase some Multi-​Use (hybrid) bikes every since we moved here. We are located here in South Reno and they reviews here on Unilocal pointed to some places we needed to check out.
A beautiful Saturday we went strolling into this store to «look» since it was our first walk into bike shop, we weren’t expecting much.
I believe the salesman who approached us after a few minutes was named Steven. Who I think is one of the most laid-​back people I have ever met. And that to me is the best kind of personality for a salesperson to have. Not a pushy bone in this kids body.
We told him what we thought we were looking for and after he pulled a few bikes down and we both tried them out in the parking lot, we were sold.
For such a small shop, they have a lot of merchandise. We also purchased our helmets, seats, etc there.
Could we have gotten a better deal from perhaps a larger sporting good store? Perhaps but I like working with the smaller shops.
Now, hopefully this great weather sticks for a while so we can use these amazing bikes…

I recently bought a new Trek Fuel Ex7 from Leon and absolutely love it. The service was excellent and Leon made several adjustments to my road bike that made a huge difference. I’ll buy and service my bikes here from now on. I appreciate and owner that works on the floor directly with his customers.

Brought my custom tandem here for a tune up. Got the full-​monty (including frame waxing and cleaning). They have GREAT mechanics, and I will only let Sierra’s mechanics touch my tandem or my Seven. I have only 1 gripe, and that is that the frame waxing job that I paid for didn’t happen. shame on me for not saying anything, but I was back home (40 miles away) before I really noticed. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Their mechanics have always been great though, great customer service.

Went in today for an introductory meet, not looking to buy but more over, go over the basics and requirements. I’m a first time road biker and wanted to get educated thoroughly before I throw down a large sum.
Had a female rep start off to help me. I advised of my budget, level of ride, goals, etc. Leon stated to show me a 56 Specialized. Showed me a $ 5800 bike, could not put on the pedals. Took the bike to the front, Leon, more knowledgeable, stated it was another bike, used and minor scratches, put the pedals on, took some measurements, pumped air into the tires and told me to take a test. The bike was great, but I would rather have a new bike and something at my level of ride.
Returned the bike and was told by Leon that he would sell it to me for $ 2K.
Left the place.
Had my eye on a 56 Specialized Matte Black for $ 800. Not going back. Felt as if I was being taken.
Second chances? Lets see if anyone from Sierra Cyclesmith takes a look at my review and calls me back.

Great customer service. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. The pricing was very competitive as well. I didn’t end up purchasing from the shop because a friend sold me a used bike at a good price. I’ll be back for accessories or a new ride down the road.

Had picked up a mountain bike off of Craiglist and wanted to have it tuned up before braving the trails. I came in at 11 a.m. on a Tuesday and the line was already out the door. I was helped straight away and they said they would give the bike a once over and call me with what it needed. Less than three hours later they called and the bike needed a full tune up and new brakes front and rear. Total damage? $ 97 (Totally fair in my mind) The bike was ready in less than 48 hours and it rides like a dream. When I do decide to purchase a brand new bike i’ll be coming here. Thanks for making the whole process effortless.

This is the best bike shop in Reno. They staff are friendly and know what they are talking about. I have taken my Specialized Epic in for two repairs and their work is top notch. I have also found that their pricing on service is cheaper than most of the other shops. I highly recommend these guys!

This is the only bike shop that took the time to show me the correct way to remove my rear tire — they didn’t just show me — they made me do it a few times while they watched to make sure I really knew how to do it– the other thing I like about this place is they have most stuff in stock– very nice people and great location.

We took a Campi EURO wheel to true. In a few minutes, the mechanic had broken the spoke. After 3 weeks of waiting, they still don’t have the replacement part. They called today to say it would be 5 MORE weeks before the part comes in from Italy. A friend of mine IN Italy said they are NOT closed and further, Campi has an office in Atlanta from which to order the part. Not only are they incompetent, they are liars. NEVER AGAIN.

Nice clean shop lots of nice bikes to choose from how ever my first visit was near the end of the day and the guy helping me seemed unhappy and just not into it so i left and came back another day and service was great very helpful this time around even let me take any bike i wanted for a spin in the lot!

Just bought my first full suspension bike from Sierra Cyclesmith!!! I am STOKED about my bike and extremely happy with the price I got and the service provided. I now get gear for 20% off and free service for a year, and Leon, the owner, even knocked off $ 100 after a miscommunication about the price. Highly recommend this great local business!

Just found the time to write this review. I was in town for some heavy cycling training for 5 days in the Reno/​Tahoe Area. After a big ride, I noticed a problem with my Venge crank/​bottom bracket and needed to get this looked at quickly. I googled a specialized dealer and found Sierra Cyclesmith. Was helped by Ken. I explained my situation and as busy as they were, they told me they could get to it and have it back to me the next day. I was impressed with their expertise and overall customer service. Got the bike back as promised and have not has a problem since. Would recommend them to anyone who is in the area.

I am so fortunate I found this bike shop. First of all they gave me a great deal on my Specilized Stumpjumper. Secondly the service has been outstanding for the past two years. I live in N. Lake Tahoe and have tried local shops for convenience. That was a mistake. Sierra Cyclesmith have always gone out of their way to accommodate me during my 1 – 2 hours trips to Reno. They will start on my bike immediately and be finished by the time I come back. More importantly the work is done right and affordability. Thanks Sierra Cyclesmith for keeping me up and running. You guys rock!

Great shop, very accomodating. I test rode a bike the other day. They took the time to set up the full suspension bike to my weight, and check the tire pressure. All of this for a 1 minute parking lot ride.
Great staff. I just purchased a $ 2,500 bike from Reno based Peloton Bicycles. Nice shop, but the customer service was no where near the quality of Sierra Cyclesmith.
