We wanted a little date night, so we went somewhere we had never been before, but passed a lot, seeing as we live nearby and this is on a main road… Anyway, we stopped into Ruby River as my fiancé had a hankering for steak. We got the appetizer sampler, brown onion(think blooming onion), steak and avocado egg rolls and cheese fries. The cheese fries were okay, I felt like they needed jalapeños and also a little over cooked. The brown onion was also only okay, it was the sauce, it’s like a bbq ranch mixture, I’m not a huge fan of that, but if you like that sort of thing you’ll probably dig it. I LOVED the steak avocado egg rolls and those will be the appetizers of choice in the future. Now, on to the STEAK! Cooked to perfection and seasoned like a champ. I cut that steak and put it in my face, it was meat heaven! I had gotten a side of fries and the sautéed mushrooms. I put some of the mushrooms on the steak, that was DOPE! In conclusion, it was good food and the service was fantastic, even the manager stopped by the table to check in, which never happens anymore. It’s safe to say we will be back!

Called at the last minute on a Friday night to see if they could accommodate a party of 12, because a chain restaurant we were originally planning on going to couldn’t accommodate our group at one table, and wouldn’t take a reservation. The hostess was very nice, said that they could, and put a reservation down for us. When we got there they had our table ready for us in the back, it was perfect! Our server was awesome, and somehow managed to deal with our crazy, un-organized group(I wish I would have caught her name). The food came out relatively quick, and was SO good. We all had asked for separate checks(rude I know) but out server was so graceful about it and managed to split them all up correctly. We had a great dinner at Ruby River and will definitely be back soon.

This is a great western steak house puts the chain places like Black Angus to shame. Has peanuts as well like Texas Roadhouse but somehow they manage to have a place that is not literally littered with peanut shells and dust this is a very clean place. Waitress was a little forgetful but super nice and kitchen delivered nice food and price very reasonable we go here pretty much every time we are in Reno.

I’ve been here twice and its just ok. When the bar next door has better steak than the restaurant it says something. Service was ok. To me this rates similar to any chain type family restaurant in the US. Nothing to write home about.

I came here with friends over 10 years ago on Christmas Eve and had an experience we still talk about. I have always wondered if it was the nature of the holiday or is this place really that great? Definitely holds the rest of time! Turned off by the high prices of other nearby steakhouses(yeah, I’m looking across the street here!), I have visited this establishment now twice in the last month. The reasonable corkage bests the peppermill steakhouse by over 3 times, first of all. Secondly, once seated, everything comes very quickly, even on a busy Saturday night. The food is plentiful, so appetizers really aren’t too necessary. If you must, I believe if you sign up for their newsletter they will comp one of three selections to start. We did get the blooming onion(their verbiage is different) once and it was ok. Not worth spoiling the much-better entrees over. I have gotten or tried the garlic sirloin, the bacon sirloin and the almond halibut. All were above average or excellent and come with 2(plentiful) sides. Have not tried the dessert, but really? After all of the above plus complimentary peanuts and bread! I don’t think you’ll be requiring an additional course. My only(minor) concern is that despite calling ahead and being placed on a call-ahead list, it didn’t seem to give any priority over other people that were just simply there before us. I suppose they all may have called ahead also, but unlikely. In any case, Ruby River is a refreshed favorite that is worth going out of your way to try.

Fun place, good vibe, friendly staff. and OMG, huge portions. My family ate themselves silly. The peanuts in the waiting area don’t help either. Unfortunately, we were visiting Reno, so we couldn’t even take our food to go. Everything was great, but I left feeling like I was going to have a heart attack. The deep fried sweet potato was really good, but just typing that raised my cholesterol level a few points. I think this is a once a year indulgence when we make our annual trip to Reno.

Excellent ribeye highly recommended! Get the jacketed baked potato and Caesar salad accompaniment. Service was fast and friendly. One of the best steaks I’ve added long time!

Decided to try this place out the day before Valentines Day and we had to wait an hour. There were many people waiting out front and inside which told me this place deserves a look. After waiting nearly what we were told the wait would be, my wife and I were seated in a booth. The waitress we got was extremely nice and fast for handling full tables all evening. The wife and I were here to eat steak so we ordered as soon as the waters came out. We got the complimentary bread which was really good. We both got alcohol(myself a beer and wife a mixed drink) which the beer was nice and cold and the mixed drink strong, but not overpowering. The wife got onion soup with the cheese on it and it was very good. I just got a house salad. which was standard. Then came the steaks. I want to spend a minute on the level of disappointment my wife and I shared when we bit into these. There’s no way to be nice about it. Since I asked for medium rare I expected the outside of the steak to be brown. I still had red peeking through on the sides. Even on a rare steak I would expect everything to be browned to be on par with health code when cooking a steak. My ribeye had to be sent back. For 20 bucks they missed the mark on a steak that wasn’t even ½″ thick. Lastly, seasoning was not present on either steak and the wife and I had to rescue this beef with A-1 sauce. Given my situation, I would hope everyone reading this keeps their steaks to medium because the next day after eating an undercooked steak isn’t something I wish on perfect strangers. I sincerely want to give a kudos to our server. She served us promptly, even took the steak back without question, and kept a great tempo throughout our evening. Keeping those water glasses full deserves recognition in any situation.

I have been here numerous times over the years and this place is a solid 3.5 star for me… nothing seriously stands out for me. They do start off every meal with the pail of peanuts which is a nice start and I would have to say the best menu options are to stick to the steak. I have tried to venture off the steak menu a few times and have always been sort of disappointed. Last weeks example was just another case of this… ordered the BBQ salmon and even though I asked for it to not be over cooked and more medium rare it came out like tree bark. It was also swimming in there BBQ sauce which was good because it needed to have some moisture added to it. This just was plain disappointing and really would leave me thinking twice about returning probably only for steak.

Good food we ordered steaks, burgers, chicken, sales, etc, everything from the bread to the sodas and even the water tastes good! Our server«jake» from State Farm(read the name tag) his service was on point, he didn’t miss a beat, constantly came by to look and ask if we needed anything and was quick to ask if we wanted refills as our glasses were low, only thing was we had children with us and some drunk female, speaking quite vulgar, and that’s the nicest way to put it, so I would say not a place for kids, I think the female was too drunk to realize the kids at the next table, nor did the group she was with, can’t blame them they’re having a good time but I can blame them for not being responsible, and respectful, so that is for my 4 star rating,

Walked in for dinner on a Tuesday night and it wasn’t busy at all. Seated right away and the waitress took my order right away. I had the iceberg wedge with blue cheese which was ice cold and delicious. Also had he filet with asparagus which was $ 26 for a 12oz. That was great as well.

Out to dinner with my moms before she moves to Florida for the rest of ever. Parking lot was kind of packed for how empty the restaurant was. Barely could hear the music, atmosphere was meh. Coming through the door was nice, nice and welcomed. But when we were taken to our seat the lady that sat us had us was generally down. No emotion, didn’t really feel appreciated. All others were nice. If you have a paper temporary DMV Drivers License bring it. They don’t accept ID/DL with the mini wholes punched in them. Last the food! Appetizers, shrimp cocktail was alright, Cesar’s salad was good. Fried pickles… No Bueno. Entrées: No steak sauce on the table, have to ask for it. The streak knife is the same as the bread knife. Dangerously dull. Entrees were amazing.

This place reminds me of a nicer Texas Roadhouse(but not too much nicer). The ambiance is very similar with the peanuts and the cowboy theme, but the food is a little better than your typical Texas Roadhouse/Outback/Black Angus. This place says that they don’t take reservations, but really they do, and they call it something else. They call it a «call-ahead wait list» which is basically the same thing as making a reservation. When you sit down, they’ll bring you some fresh, hot bread and butter. Luckily I came with a friend who knew to ask for cinnamon butter… boy oh boy. I am so glad he knew what he was doing because that cinnamon butter was BOMBBBB! Every entrée comes with 2 sides of your choice. Sides can be side salads, steak soup, sauteed mushrooms, asparagus, deep fried(jacketed) potato or sweet potato, etc. I ordered the half babyback ribs and half top sirloin. The babyback ribs fell off the bone automatically. It was really good and didn’t need the ton of bbq sauce that was slathered on. The top sirloin was cooked perfectly medium rare. Delicious seasoning, and although the piece looks small, I wasn’t able to finish it. It’s a lot of meat and you have to like meat a lot to finish the entire plate. I ordered the steak soup and asparagus for the sides. The steak soup was DELICIOUS… BUTITWASCOLD :(I’m not one to complain at restaurants so I just ate my lukewarm soup. all of it. even though it was cold. The asparagus was asparagus. no seasoning, just how I like it. My boyfriend and his 2 other friends ordered the ribeye and each one devoured it. I had a bite and I liked it better than my top sirloin. Yummy seasoning and perfectly cooked. He had sauteed mushrooms with it and it was WAYTOOSALTY. can’t eat it with your steak either because that has a good amount of seasoning on its own. I’d probably pass on sauteed mushrooms next time. He also had the jacketed baked potato, which I didn’t care for either. Tasted like any other baked potato with a hell of a lot of butter. I was in between a 3 and a 4 because this place really deserves 3.5 stars. I bumped it to 4 thanks to our wonderful server. Checked up on us just enough and always made sure we had everything we needed.

This was an interesting place to visit, not our usual type. It’s across the street from the peppermill so it was convenient. FYI the reservation line is actually just a call ahead to put your name on a list. The food was ok, the drinks were ok, the service was pretty good, and the atmosphere was fun. I am picky about my steak. I like my prime rib to basically still be mooing at me from the plate. I strongly expressed this to the waiter and he told me he would tell the chef to cook it medium rare. I was suspicious and pushed my point and he assured me it’d be fine. My husband ordered the gorgonzola new york and prefers his medium. They came out pretty much backwards. Mine was a bit tough and cooked to much, while hubby’s was the pink I wanted. My martini that I ordered with extra extra olive juice had barely any, but the alcohol was strong, so I rationalized that. I normally would ask them to re-cook food but we were in a time crunch. We did order the appetizer sampler(I know we’re a bunch of fatty’s) with the onion, shrimp, and parmesan bread. Holy cow it’s a lot of food. Plus they serve bread complimentary. We ended up sharing our app with the neighboring table because we couldn’t possibly eat everything. I probably will try out somewhere else next time, but hey at least our bill wasn’t bad.

Well either I ordered the wrong thing, I got a horrible cut of NY steak or the people that are leaving reviews on here about this restaurant don’t know what they’re talking about. Maybe they’ve never have had a quality steak. I ordered a Gorgonzola NY steak medium well and it pretty much came that way but as I tried to cut through the steak the knife almost wouldn’t cut through. Normally on a good steak like they say they have here you can chew the fat on the ends and it tastes great. Not here. I had to spit them out because it wouldn’t breakdown with chewing. Sizzler for the price is much better then this place. I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody and if anyone asked me if they should try it I would say. No! Too bad. I was looking to have a good steak tonight. On to the next place. 2 stars because the service was great.

My experience here was wonderful. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. We were first greeted with a humorous and sweet host. We made our way to our table where Alexa was our server. Though the restaurant was busy, she paid much attention to what our orders were and what I wanted in and on my strawberry margarita. My filet mignon was delicious and flavorful mixed with my giant baked potato! Stuffed from dinner, we headed out with full bellies. I’m very impressed with the service and loved the food. Will definitely be back!

Stopped in here while on vacation. I wanted to try new places that I didn’t have back home, but on this particular day nothing would satisfy my craving except a good steak… so I stopped in here after checking out some nearby places. This is a typical steakhouse, nothing fancy… there is cowboy boots and décor all around and it is dimly lit. Server seemed really great and anxious to wait on my table, until we ordered waters for the drinks. It was as if someone told her that the Easter bunny wasn’t real. This isn’t the only place this has happened to me though… but c’mon servers, just cause people order water doesn’t mean they are cheap and you wont get tipped. Some people just don’t want soda after being in the heat all day and need something refreshing. Anyways… We ordered the following: Sirloin(6oz) and Rib combo and the 8oz sirloin. Both meals were served with 2 sides of your choosing, and we had a salad and baked potato. The house salad is served with tomatoes, onions and hard boiled eggs as well as cheese. I like that the salad comes with these already and you do not have to ask for them extra. However, if you get a baked potato w/cheese it is extra. The 6oz sirloin and rib combo was good, not the best. I should clarify and say that the ribs were absolutely delicious!!! There was a ½ rack of ribs w/plenty of meat and sauce. The meat was very tender and fell off the bones. The steak however was PAPERTHIN!!! I wasn’t expecting much for a 6oz, but this thing was as thin as a Mc Donald’s patty. It was really dry and overcooked, I did not enjoy it. The 8oz sirloin on the other hand is what a steak is and should be. It was cooked to perfection, medium-well, and had the right amount of seasoning. The steak was thick, even though it was just 2oz bigger than the 6oz-er. I really enjoyed this steak, and even had some to take back to the hotel to nosh on later for a snack. The service for the rest of the night was hit or miss with our server and was lacking at times. I had to get another waitress, which I hate doing and wont unless I absolutely have to, to assist me. Our waitress just shrugged it off. What happened to the energetic girl that greeted us at first??? I had thought about ordering a dessert, but she brought the check and made no mention as to whether I wanted anything else, so I decided to take my money elsewhere and explore other tasty options the city had to offer. Overall I would recommend for a good steak dinner, or lunch… just be sure to order a bigger cut steak to avoid getting one that could serve as a placemat.

I love this place and just realized that I have not ever done a review on it. When walking in you smell that great aroma of delicious food. The greeters get your name and its wait time. The food it worth a half hour wait. The waiter or waitress walks up and introduces themselves and takes our drink orders. Drinks arrive and now time to order food. I’ll always have the 16oz Ribeye and the jacketed baked potato with salad. The wife orders the bbq chicken salad. Out comes a hot loaf of bread with our salads. The food comes bit later and I remember why I love coming here. The steak is just how I order it and the salad looks delicious. The wife’s bbq salad she said was awesome. Thanks Ruby River see you again real soon.

We on a 2 day break from reality and decided to visit Reno. We stayed at the Peppermill just across the street. Our 2 day break included a break from an otherwise clean diet and daily exercise. The dinner here was fantastic. We had an awesome waiter named Kyle who made sure we were taken care of every step of the way. He never missed a beat. Both hubby and I indulged in shrimp cocktail, jalapeño poppers, filet Mignon, loaded baked potatoes, and salads. The wedge salad was the BEST salad I have ever had in my life. I can still taste that goodness! The filet was cooked to absolute perfection and was melt in your mouth delicious. The baked potato was so good, the bacon that topped it was like icing on a savory cake. We finished off our dinner with a huge mud pie that didn’t disappoint. This restaurant is the epitome of what a steakhouse should be. Every detail is on point. We will be back next time we are in the area! It was a nice break from otherwise mediocre casino eating.
