History

Established in 2009.

Posh Salon & Spa was opened in the former location of Genesis Medical Spa. Posh is owned by the original owners of Genesis Salon & Spa — which provides the business with over 30 years experience in the industry. We opened as a salon dedicated to education and continue to follow the latest trends and developments in the beauty industry. Our cosmetology experts are dedicated to continuing their education. At Posh Salon & Medical Spa you will find some of the most passionate beauty professionals in the industry today.

Manager

I am proud to be one of the managers here at Posh. My personal position is Med Spa Manager. I started working at Posh in 2013 while I was getting my bachelors degree at University of Nevada, Reno. I work with so many great people and the atmosphere is fun and welcoming. Most of my time is spent in the Med Spa, but I am always helping out in other areas as well.

I lloooooove my haircut! Ross did an amazing job! Like i told him, this is the first time ive gotten exactly what i wanted for my hair when i do something drastic. Im so happy and will definitely go back.
You should definitely book with Ross. He did sooooo good. Im excited i finally found someone to do my hair. Only took 8 years. =p

Posh salon sadly charged my bank card twice for a hair service.
It was over a $ 150 charge. The girl charging my card had some trouble with the machine and said she needed to charge my card again and said first charge would be canceled.
It most definitely was not! When I called the salon to clear things, up they said my bank was mistaken haha! Yeah right. Wells Fargo has never made a mistake. When I called my bank the woman said 100% that posh double charged me $ 150.
When I called posh again, they said they had no record of this and could not help me.
This salon is a thieving salon! Shame on you posh salon! Yuck.

Posh — We are always greeted by warm friendly people at the front desk. We do not live in Reno but visit often and we always book an appointment with Monica our go-​to person. She is bright, talented, and takes outstanding care of us. We are very thankful for the kind, professional care we’ve received over the past three years. Keep up the good work!

I wish I had known about this 10% off for the new client offer when I came in for the first time a couple weeks ago! I was very very happy with the outcome of getting my hair trimmed! It’s always scary to go somewhere new and ask for a trim, you’re worried you’ll walk out of the place with your hair 3 inches shorter, when all you needed was freshened up. But that was not the case! I have been struggling to find a hairstylist in Reno that actually listens to what I want, and then delivers! I was impressed with the whole place, the staff and the hairstylist’s knowledge. My hair now feels the best it has in years. I have since starting using the Bb tonic spray they recommended and I am saving up for the bumble and bumble shampoo and conditioner. I had never realized what an impact the products you use in your hair, actually have on your hair! Thank you for all the knowledge and advice. And I am still so pleased with my hair. I will definitely be back. Now that I feel so comfortable and confident in the work, I might come in for a style and color next time, rather than just a trim.

I was disappointed! The girl who cut my hair, i think her name was Kahleena, claimed she has 10 years experience. All i wanted was to get some layers and a V cut. I didnt get what I wanted. It paid $ 50! I mean c’mon how many hair styles are there! I was annoyed that she kept blow-​dried my hair 2 inches from my scalp! Even when i mentioned it to her, she wasnt paying attention. When she was washing my hair, i felt she was in a rush. Her massage was a joke! She curled my hair, and then turned out it wasnt even when i straightened it! I would never go back to say the least! Please pay attention to your work! I understand money is important, but quality of your work is more important than the quantity of clients. Or maybe you need more practice.

I’ve been going to Shana on and off for about 5 years now (I moved out of state and had to see other stylists unfortunately) and she is absolutely the best! She is the only stylist I’ve found that is able to give me a versatile cut for my curly hair. I currently drive 2 hours from California to see her, that’s how’s awesome she is! If you’re looking for an amazing stylist, ask for Shana!

I had another fantastic visit to posh salon and spa. I can always count 100% on being happy with the end product. Eddie Kulikowski is a talented colorist and master of the cut! I have never had such consistent and beautiful results with any other stylist and I always walk out feeling like I have a completed look. Top notch salon but more importantly top-​notch technician. Love love love it!

The crazy owner told me to come in for a haircut sometime and it would be about $ 15. I stopped by recently, and after the nice receptionist spoke with someone, she told me she could give me 10% off $ 30. Kids, that’s only $ 3 off, making a men’s cut $ 27!
This review is just for the owner. Way to drum up business!

I REALLY like the atmosphere. The people are really friendly, and don’t keep you waiting long. What I don’t like is that I’m always charged different prices each time I go and get THE SAME SERVICE. The last time I went, I got a spa pedicure, and my damn toenail polish started falling off by the time I got home that day. The chick that did my nails totally DIDN’T know what she was doing when it came to glitter. She CAKED it on, took like 45 mins longer than it has ever taken and it didn’t even cover my whole nail. And to have the polish fall off under my desk while I’m at work!!! Omg, how embarrassing. The atmosphere and friendliness isn’t that great that I would go back to be overcharged for not perfect service.

I love this place! From the time you walk in you feel welcome! The front desk is always friendly and helpful. I started coming to Posh to see Lauren and I am never disappointed!
Lauren is fun, cutting edge, and listens to what her customers want. She always takes the time to listen to you and asks a lot of questions to make sure she understands what you want. She is great with hair and does beautiful make-​up.
The salon itself is very nice, bright, and vibrant. I have never been to Posh when it isn’t hopping. Check out and scheduling is a breeze. It’s hard to find a consistent and good salon, Posh is a great one!

Honestly the only salon in Reno I trust.
Monica has been doing my hair for years and she is amazing. She never chops too much off, she takes her time and will do something over multiple visits if it’s too damaging and I always get the results I want without going too crazy. She has taken me from dark brown to black, a light caramel color for summer, ombré and finally a fun Gamora themed ombré from dark brown fading to a nice deep maroon. She also has styled my clip in extensions for me, gave me bangs, trims, layers… whatever it is I needed at the moment. She is super diverse and very talented, plus she doesn’t charge an arm and a leg.
She also does my Mother’s hair who prefers styles and colors that are much different than my own. She keeps her blonde without going copper/​yellow like some of her previous hair-​dressers all while keeping it age appropriate.
I would definitely recommend her!

This review is regarding my experiences with laser hair removal by Teresa (not for the salon).
If you need laser hair removal, NEVER. EVER. GO. HERE.
The heads on the machine that’s used are never replaced, leaving you with a completely painful and ineffective laser treatment. Being a prime candidate for laser, over a course of 5 treatments, I had maybe 1% hair growth diminished. If you want to run a business that demands results like laser hair removal, then it’s extremely important to service your equipment.

I came from a big city with tons of funky hairstylists, drove me nuts when I first came here.
I was like dying to find a hairstylist who’ll fill my hairstyle needs. I don’t like to grow my hair so much so when it came almost reach my shoulder it’ll drive me crazy.
I’ve been tried 2 places and ended up disappointed yes a very bad one. No style indeed.
So I’ve been looking around on Unilocal until I saw a photo on Unilocal (her previous place) with Andrea’s client with a short hair style so I gave her a try.
I met Andrea (before she was at the crush hair studio) and I knew at the time she finished my color and haircut I was so happy & relieved that I found her.
So today was my first visit at her new place and like usual she already knew about what color and short hair style for me & always makes me happy.
She did a very good job doing my hair color and haircut. I just showed her what kind of color I wanted to. I always do highlight for my hair with the red color for the primary and mix with other colors.
She is an artist, you can tell when you know her. She is always listen about what her client wants or give some idea too. She is not just as your hairstylist but we can talk and plus one is we are a dog people so i like her more.

I must say I do not like how open the salon area is, however, that is just my personal preference. I have my brows done in back by Jocelyn and she is wonderful!!!
They have a great reception area out front with water, tea, and coffee. They are always friendly and polite when I walk in… a huge plus! The back waiting area is calm and quite tranquil although I never have to wait!

I have been following Amelia Thomason for ten years. She is absolutely incredible and I love what she does to my hair! I have natural curly blonde hair which can be very difficult to cut. She has taught me about product and how to better work my natural curl so I don’t have natural frizz and damage. Also, when my hair started slowly turning dish water blonde over the past few years she lightened me up. I love my highlights and I get so many complements on my hair! She has really helped improve my overall self esteem with a great cut, style and color… and I think it makes me look younger too… bonus!
I just can’t say enough! I have referred many friends and recently my mom to Amelia and they all say they have never had such a great cut and color! She really knows her stuff! I just love her and love recommending her to others!
Additionally, Posh is a Kerastase Salon. Kerastase is one of the best hair products in the world. It is pricy but so worth it. You use so very little and it lasts for so long I cannot recommend it enough! The stuff is amazing!

Ross gave me a cut and color. I’m very happy with the results. I have crazy, long, thick, coarse island hair. I wanted a nice change and something that was low maintenance so we went with an ombré. I feel like a new woman and I’m getting compliments left and right. Ross is confident and also I appreciated how we did a strand test first to see how the color would look before applying the whole thing and «hoping» for a good outcome. Thumbs up!
