Paul S’s Beer Club UYE at Canfest 2015

You know its a good time when you need to take a taxi home! I had such a fun time at Canfest and meeting other Unilocalers. I enjoyed Paul’s knowledge of beers and was happy that they had a wide variety of different beers so that I could enjoy the shandy’s and ciders and that others could enjoy the more traditional beers. Thanks Michael for the tickets and thanks again Paul for the tour, pretzels and the red beads!

We started out with some confusion about getting our tickets and wondering how this entire group was going to stick together the whole night. But once we all had our tickets in hand and got in the doors, we broke off into smaller groups and occasionally ran into each other. How I still manage to miss some of you, I’m not sure! The beads were a great idea for identify each other if we hadn’t met yet.
The night was full of awesome beer, great friends, and tons of fun. Thank to you Paul for organizing and Michael for the tickets! Oh, and major props to Paul for bringing pretzels, very much needed by the end of the night! I’m also happy to report that the Unilocal booth line was the longest line in the room for the entire night. That swag is super coveted!

What’s better than a Paul’s Beer UYE you may ask? A night full of Unilocalers drinking beer with Paul in the biggest room they could find full of canned beer!

It was a room full of awesome beers to try, new friends, and awesomeness!

What’s better than a night of tasting beer? Tasting beer with new and old friends compliments of Unilocal!Thank you Paul S. and Michael T. for another great event! I have been wanting to go to BrewHaHa since I moved to Reno, and for some reason the dates just never work out for me. Canfest is the BrewHaHa of canned beer and it was awesome trying new breweries especially the ones that do not have distributors in Reno yet.
Paul S. handed out red beads to the Unilocalers so we could easily identify each other throughout the event. There was no way to keep all fifty us together (comparable to herding cats with flashy lights going everywhere at once) so this was a great idea. I have no idea how many booths there were or how many beers we were able to taste (lots!), I think we gave up tracking them half way through. You could also easily spot the pro’s from the rookies too because they brought their own snacks either in a «satchel» or by making pretzel necklaces. By the way, Paul, if you were missing a bag of pretzels, it wasn’t us ;)
There was live music throughout the night and also a silent disco with two dance floors to work off those calories. And the lines at the different breweries weren’t bad and if you didn’t want to wait, you could just go to the next booth. There was plenty of beer and ciders to go around. We planned ahead and booked a room downtown so we could easily cab it for only $ 10. We met a lot of great people, tried some awesome beers and would love to go to this event again!

Thank you so much Paul and Michael T for inviting us to join the Unilocal crew to this sudsy event. It was a first time for me and I was blown away. I had no idea how huge it is.
Ciders, Ales, IPAs, lagers, and even adult root beer floats all from cans! What more could you ask for? Easy check in. Paul is always so organized and helpful.
And What an amazing event for Reno, I wouldn’t have thought to go if it wasn’t for Paul and Michael T.

Atmosphere — Canfest was at one Peppermill’s larger banquet halls.

The best thing about Canfest is that brewers that do not have distributors in Reno are able to show off their product. My first two laps around the place I focused on those beers which I could not get in Reno.
Service — Immediately the plans of me handing out tickets was denied by the employees at Will Call. Considering that Will Call hands out your beer glass, and this year it was real glass, with your ticket it was probably better that I did not hand out the tickets. The draw back with this it made it hard for me to find everyone. I hand out red Mardi Gras beads to help identify the group. Obviously a group of 30 plus people hanging out together the whole night is hard and would not work. So there were little roaming Unilocal groups. The beads from what I heard allowed different groups to identify each other easily and meet up.
As for Canfest beer vendors the lines were short if there were lines. This made getting beer easy, and that is what you want from one of the biggest beer events in Reno.
