This place was great! I recently took my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a brake job and tune-​up. Tony got my car repaired same day and saved me lots of money compared to the rest of the estimates I received from other places. Tony and his staff were very nice and professional. I recommend this place to all my friends and family and anyone who needs car repairs. Thank you Tony for excellent service and saving me money!

I was here the other day and witnessed an odd altercation between the owner, tony, and a seemingly charming couple that were being verbally abused by the owner. I’ve taken my vehicle here several times, mostly out of convenience but after the incredibly unprofessional behavior from Tony, I don’t think I’ll be able to return. Your customers are what keep you in business and if that’s how he treats other customers, I have no reason to come back. Additionally, the prices he quotes me are normally lower than other places, but every. single. time. I go to pay, it’s always higher, which is pretty irritating and quite frankly makes me feel deceived. The actual repair work is decent, but not good enough to make up for the incredible lack of customer service. If you’re A. Made of money and B. Enjoy being bullied by an egotistic owner then this place is for you! But if you’re like most people who live on budgets and appreciate feeling like a valued customer, then stay away. I really do wish Nick would come back to stop this train wreck.

Women beware: Unless you’re a male going to this shop, the owner will not even try to work with you. In fact, if you go in with a male, he will be the only one spoken to; even worse if anything he says is questioned, all hell breaks loose. Yesterday I went down to pay for work done on my vehicle, expecting it to be a relatively quick and painless process. Boy was I wrong… When I questioned the owner, Tony about how the total could inexplicably jump from $ 600 — which he had quoted the morning of the pick up — to $ 860 at the time of pick up and wanted him to explain, any professionalism and customer service went out the window. He started yelling and screaming at my boyfriend and I that we were treating him like a slave and people expect him to do work for free. When we tried to explain to him that we were not, in fact, treating him like a slave and wanted to pay for the work once it was explained, we were met with an even louder and angrier response, this time with his face even closer to mine along with his fingers jabbing inches away from my face. Honestly, I am so glad I was not there alone, because I felt the absolute danger and threat that Tony was willing to take matters into his own hands. literally. At this point, after being berated, verbally abused and feeling physically unsafe for 40 minutes, we decided to cut our losses and pay so we could get the hell out of there. Unsurprisingly, this seemingly simple and routine act of collecting payment could not be done without trouble. Tony had somehow come to the conclusion that we would cancel any check, debit transaction or credit card transaction after we collected our car, thus «robbing him» of his pay. Words again were exchanged about how we wanted to pay and get out of there, and Tony only stopped screaming at us for long enough to call the police, citing us «ruining his business» as the cause they needed to come out. This was my first interaction with the Reno police, who were amazing by the way, and we were able to clearly and calmly discuss with the officer what had occurred, how mortified we were that any of this was even happening and all that we wanted now was to be able to pay and leave with our vehicle. After they were able to speak with Tony, they came back out and recommended that we definitely should share our awful experience on any and all social platforms that Nick’s Auto Shop is currently on and gave us a recommendation to try Reno Vulcanizing auto shop instead of this place.
I have never in my life experienced an adult, much less a business owner, behave in such a way. I am absolutely shocked that this place is still even in business with how the owner treats his patrons. We chose this business based on their 4.5 star rating but obviously did not know what we were getting ourselves into so I wanted to be sure to share my horrific experience on this page to be sure that people know what they will be getting if they bring their car here. I have video of Tony verbally berating my boyfriend that I would post if I could, so any talk of this being «fake» like he does with other low ratings is comical quite frankly.
Customer service? Nonexistent. Transparency with pricing? Laughable. Customer safety? Not a chance.
TL;DR: Skip the time and hassle with this «business» and go to Reno Vulcanizing instead.

Nick/​Tony it was a great experience; Tony and his staff were «honest, Efficient and informative throughout! Tony called and kept me up on everything about my car. Tony also told me about all the scenarios that might be causing my issues. He was honest and forthright about my car. He saved me $ so I cannot say anything negative, it was a lost experience in today’s market! Kudos Tony and staff!

I was very satisfied with my experience at Nicks Automotive. After what initially appeared to be an issue with a wheel bearing assembly, Tony discovered that the problem was actually an easily repairable brake issue. The repair ended up costing $ 300 less than what we had anticipated paying. With all of the stories you hear of dishonest mechanics performing unnecessary work to vehicles, it is nice to find a shop that you can trust. Nicks Automotive has earned a new customer for life!

Being fairly new to the Reno area, I was looking for a good and honest mechanic. We had our Mazda Miata towed in and while filling out the paperwork the car was diagnosed!!! While there, Tony performed a quick maintenance on our Subaru Impreza. We also took our Toyota Tacoma to Tony to repair the valve cover gaskets, door handles and tailgate. I would highly recommend Nicks Automotive. Tony is very honest and professional.

Great experience! Drove over after AAA jumped my car. Mechanic ran some tests, diagnosed a weak battery, Tony quickly called around to get some prices for different batteries, had it delivered within 20 minutes and they installed it in less than 5 minutes. I was happy they addressed the problem right away and fixed it.

This place offers amazing service and quality work. I am SO happy I chose Nick’s to help me. I will only use them for all of my truck needs!!!

what can i say but… the best shop in reno!!! these guys do it all and they don’t rip you off… nick is the shop owner and i have nothing but respect and trust for his shop and bussiness… they do the best work all the time and never use anything but high quality parts… take the stress out of somthing that is useually very stressfull… nothing but the Best… i’m moving to Texas and will have to find a new shop but will visit reno often to see the family and you can be sure that my trucks and cars will get the once over when i get to town… Thanks Nick

i would not use these people if they were the last shop on earth. took my pathfinder in and had rear break shoes done on it. they did my breaks, so they said. 17,000 miles later they were gone, nothing left. so i had them checked by a break specialist, and he said the breaks were never changed. i called nick he said. he changed them. well if i were you instead of giving nicks 400to 800 dollars for breaks. and not getting them done, the word on the street is to go some place else. dont trust them, you will be sorry if you do. they are crooked, i also herd of another car that was ripped off by them for 4,000 dollars. shop around, take my advice please.

This is truly a remarkable shop that provides excellent customer service with a smile. Nick’s automotive is a very clean shop that takes pride in its work. They may be grease monkeys but let me tell you run a tight ship. They look for the best auto parts prices with the best quality around. They will tell you if you need a repair or not & they guarantee their work. You may think I’m crazy but upon the recommendation from my own mechanic he told me to check out other shops. I took his advice and was very happy to find Nick’s Automotive. I would highly recommend this shop if not for their excellent customer service then for their great prices and honest work.
