One of the worst businesses I have ever worked with. Sent here from Apple because my Mac was considered «antique» because it was a 2008 so they would not work on it. Brought it to Mac O Rama with no hardware damage or wifi issues except for the display going out. Asked them to replace it and order me a new battery, was charged $ 500+ for a scratched screen and a «new» battery that did not even last 2.5 hours. On top of it I turned it on for the first time since they repaired it and got the message «wifi:no hardware installed.» It had never previously had wifi problems before I took it to them. I took it to apple and they said that something must of gone wrong and I need to have them fix it or get my money back. Took it back to Mac o Rama, they refused to accept they caused the problem and told me it came like that, even though the diagnostics say otherwise when you run it. I request they put all my previous parts on and give me my money back. They did, but still wanted to charge me $ 100+ and when I asked what for, because now I not only have a screen that doesn’t work but now my wifi doesn’t work they kicked me out of their store. On top of that, when another computer repair place tried to open my computer Mac O Rama had put screws that did not even fit my Mac into it and stripped them making it almost impossible to open the bottom plate. My Mac had never been opened before they worked on it. On a good note they did refund me 100% but I am now a college student with no computer that has wifi who can’t afford to have the problem fixed or buy a new computer. I have heard good things about this company but I could not have had a worse experience. Use at your own risk!

I awoke New Year’s Day to a computer that wouldn’t open, along with a clicking hard drive. We live rurally and Reno is our nearest full service community, so my boyfriend took my iMac to the Apple Store on his way to north. The Genius Bar said the hard drive was bad and that they wouldn’t be able to fix it for weeks. They recommended Mac O’Rama, so we took it there. We ordered a rush job, which returned my computer to me in a week, excluding shipping, which was reasonable. What was not reasonable was the fact that my iMac was returned to me with the first iteration of Yosemite (10.10.1) and not El Capitan (10.11.2) that I’d been running. None of my Microsoft for Mac products were working, either. I made an initial call regarding the Microsoft software, and the woman who answered the phone told me that the Microsoft products were purchased with the hard drive and that they went away when my hard drive did. I knew she was wrong, as I’d had a hard drive crash before, but wanted to consult with my boyfriend before moving forward with any complaints. Essentially, I had to pack my computer up yet again and take it to my boyfriend’s house, where he spent a few hours fixing and updating the software on my computer to a place comparable to when my hard drive died. I then placed another call to Mac O’Rama regarding these issues, including the fact that they never gave any indication whether any material was accessible off of my HD, as the woman I spoke with in the initial aftermath of the work told me it would have been had I paid another $ 400. The man I spoke with, Joshua I believe, was nice and seemed knowledgeable, but was unapologetic regarding the outdated operating system. He did say that the woman I spoke to, an elderly relative, as this is a family business, was mistaken regarding the Microsoft software, but as most people lose their program key, some do need to repurchase these programs (and she tried to sell me a 460 app that saves the keys). He also said she was mistaken regarding accessing anything off my HD, which didn’t make me happy but at least let me know my status. Great for the info, but it still left me and my boyfriend doing the work to get my computer up to par. If we were local, we likely could have brought my computer back in, which still would have been a hassle and which would have deprived me of my computer for additional time, for work that should have been done in the first place. Sloppy. Just really sloppy and unprofessional. They also did not include a receipt with my returned computer, requiring me to call yet again to request an e-​mailed copy. Joshua agreed to a partial refund, but as of ten days later, it isn’t showing up on my credit card. Grrrr… Not recommended. I’ve had significantly better service and product from other computer shops. This would have been a two star review had my money refunded on time (and to note, I did not ask for a total refund, just a partial on the labor, to which Joshua agreed), but instead, they get one star from me.

I’m not great about writing reviews but am taking the time with Mac-​O-​Rama because they deserve the high praise. As a small business owner it was beyond inconvenient that my brand new MacPro should go dark mid-​work week. After several hours researching possible troubleshoots online and speaking with Apple Support it was determined that I’d have to travel to Reno from Tahoe (where I was visiting) mid-​week and attempt a walk-​in at the Apple Genius Bar because they couldn’t schedule me for 2 days. I’m so glad tech support directed me to Mac-​O-​Rama as an Apple certified specialist because I had as good an experience as possible when the work week was blown. Brought it in on a Wednesday, they explained everything thoroughly, and as I needed a new external hard drive anyway I was appreciative for the data transfer. Normally I’d do that myself but I didn’t have the time. The laptop needed a new motherboard and they had it back 2 days later and confirmed everything was in working order and all data was secured. In addition I had a really pleasant face to face experience and conversation with staff. It was MUCH more pleasant that killing 5 hours waiting for a possible walk in appointment at the Apple Store.

Awesome service and this was just over the phone. Called me back every time I called. Souter helpful. I don’t even live on Reno and had to take my computer to a local store and macorama still helped on how and where I should go to buy a new Mac… great service and that was just over the phone they must be 10 better in person. Thank you for your help.

45 mins of consultation and my iPhone has never worked so well. Installed a huge hard drive in my MacBook Pro, works great. Needed a small repair and they had me fixed before I could sit down. This company cares — and that’s rare anymore.

I have an appointment for next week, but the girl on the phone was sooooo rude, putdown and snippy I’m going to cancel. don’t feeling good about this place

Just wanted to let you know you lost a long time customer today. I have done several thousand dollars worth of business out there over the years as I preferred your knowledgeable and friendly staff and your work over the service I got at the Apple store. I have purchased an iMac 27 inch, had the hard drive replaced due to a recall and had it hot rodded out with extra memory. Happy with all that work. I might also add that my wife purchased her macbook air from you all and 1 other super old mac probably like 10 years ago.
Today I called in to inquire about a service and the woman who «helped me» answered the phone and as I started to explain what it was I was looking to have done she cut me off mid sentence and stated «hold the line» and put me on hold.
She then got back on the line and again before I finished explaining what it was I was trying to have accomplished she cut me off saying «we don’t sell those cables.» I wasn’t in the market or trying to purchase cables.
As a result of this persons poor customer service I will not be back or send any of my friends your way. We can get that quality of service from the Apple store here in town.
My suggestion to avoid future conflicts or alienating your long time customers is to be friendly to your customers, be helpful and hear them out before cutting them off multiple times because you think you know what it is they are looking to purchase.
Sincerely a long time and now no longer customer of yours.

As a small business owner, I find its important to support other small businesses, but Mac O Rama is run like a large operation with professional and friendly staff! Every time I take my computer here I get great service and they fix what I need. Thanks for keeping my small business going guys!

I brought my mac in for a factory recalled hard drive replacement, the owner of Mac-​O-​Rama which is a factory authorized repair business, told me that as long as there were no software issues the replacement would be covered by Apple and I would not be charged.
When I went to pick up my computer they charged me $ 149.00 for labor and Apple pays them for the labor. In order to get my computer back I paid the $ 149.00. The owner said she needed to change me that since they used my external hard drive which I had backed up through time machine to put it back on the new hard drive, I told her that if I had known that I would have done it myself, I have done it in the past and it is very easy and quick to start the process.
I have contacted Apple and filed a complaint since they are an Apple authorized repair business and would encourage anyone who thinks they have been over charged to do so.
Apple also said in the notes submitted by Mac-​O-​Rama they made no mention of charging me for the replacement.
I have also filed a dispute with my credit card company as this is clearly a fraudulent charge and I am sure others have had similar experiences and urge others to do so.
Tomorrow I will contact the State Attorney Generals Office to file a complaint and also contact the better of Business Bureau and Chamber of Commerce and urge others who have had similar problems to do the same.

I wanted to support the small retailer and went to MacORama. They misdiagnosed my computer and ordered me a part i did not need. After the part came in I told them about the issue and they asked me to come back in for inspection. When I arrived, they had already sent the part back and charged me a restocking fee to do so claiming they couldn’t keep any inventory of such items. I felt offended on both visits with the owner.
Oh well, Back to the Big Apple store.

The company I work for recently ran into a HDD issue with an older Mac Pro, and called Mac-​O-​Rama for advice. The person I spoke to informed me that she would have to consult with her team and get back to me. I never heard from them again, so they will not receive my business.

Professional, courteous and quick service — what more could anyone want?

I had this company fix my MacPro after my evil cat knocked a glass of water onto it. They did a good job fixing the laptop. So far so good. The only complaint I have is that it took a really long time. I dropped it off in July. They have an estimate to me really quickly but when I told them to go ahead and repair the computer it took them a few weeks to get it back to me. I do understand these things take time but over a month was a little long if you ask me. I would use them again but just make sure I wasn’t in a hurry. Also, I sent a couple of email to Cal and she didn’t reply to them so I had to call and leave a voicemail. Once I did that she responded quickly.

Do you know that Mac o’ Rama writes custom software solutions? Our law firm has been using Mac for many years and had used Mac O’ Rama over the years for small issues (e.g. to upgrade our server, networking, etc.) and help with other issues as they arose.
Over the years, I knew that our firm had been less efficient than it could be because there is no good «from the box» law firm management software available for Mac law firms. When I mentioned our dilemma to Jason, he said he could write one for us. It has been a huge undertaking (perhaps quite larger than Jason or Alicia had anticipated when they took it on) with many phases and I have been very impressed with the talent and professionalism of the owners and the staff. One of the fears one has when engaging a small business for such a huge project is the size of the operation and their ability to follow-​through and really «make it happen.» While the project did take longer than anyone anticipated, Mac O’ Rama has been very committed to us as customers and available whenever we have had any questions, user errors, etc., even though they are a small local business!
I would not say that the process has been without issues… every large project has issues… and this has been a very large project indeed, but the customer service at Mac O’ Rama could not be better, and that, coupled with the delight of doing business with a local small business, has made our experience with Mac O’ Rama a «five star» experience, without a doubt! I would never hesitate to send someone in need of assistance with their Mac, to Mac O’ Rama!

I recently had to replace a Mac HD and needed a new SATA cable assembly. I was told by the MAC store to go to Mac-​O-​Rama to get the new replacement. The tech and front counter were so arrogant and told me I had no idea what I was talking about and then they said they had the part but would not sell it to me. I would never recommend this store to anyone. I have been working on computers for almost 15 years now and have never been treated like this. I had to purchase the part from an online company and replaced the part and everything worked fine.

Cheers to you Mac-​O_​Rama! I have been working with Mac-​O_​Rama for years and truly appreciate the service and staff. Everyone of the staff have been so helpful and always knowledgeable. I have used the on site services as well as having my computers serviced in their facilities and have been very impressed with a quick and timely resolve to any problem I throw at them.

Mac-​o-​rama is a fantastic company — I was at my wits end after taking my MAC to the Apple Store about a half a dozen times, and they couldn’t fix it. Mac-​O-​Rama resolved ALL of my issues, they were patient in answering questions and everyone who works there is professional and super friendly. They fixed my problems quickly, lent me a battery while they ordered a new one — which was a big part of my problem (the Apple store never even checked my battery life.)
I have already referred them to several friends. For easy quick fixes, I’ll probably still use the Apple store, for anything more in-​depth or complicated, I’ll be going to Mac-​o-​rama! These guys are wonderful and trustworthy!
