Hilton Bay Aqua Driving Range

Checked it out once. Nothing striking, but then again, I guess the GSR had to come up with something to put in their cesspool/​aqueduct/​fake lake thing, which I hilariously noticed recently on Google Maps as being titled «Lake MGM!»
I think they’ve got some contest going on where if you land a ball on one of the furthest islands, you win a trip to Hawaii or something, but nothing to write home about.

As a decent golfer, you would think hitting floating golf balls into a lake with music blaring and kids and other beginners happy gilmoring would be avoided at all costs. This added character is a refreshing change from the library like driving ranges at most golf courses.
For a decent golfer, the greens and shorter targets truly focus your practicing efforts. On most driving ranges, you are unable to see where your ball lands, which leads you to believe the shot was better than it actually was. Seeing the splash at the aqua range clearly identifies where your ball landed, helping you improve your aim and swing.
Obviously this is not the place to focus all of your practice, but iris a refreshing break to change up the monotony of practice sessions.

This is by far my favorite driving range in Reno/​Sparks and that’s probably because it’s not your typical driving range. You get an interesting mix of people out here from retirees with nothing better to do, to tourists with their kids looking to kill some time, to gamblers looking to take out some frustrations, to everything in between.
If you mention you’re a local, you’ll get something like 20% off. A large bucket is less than $ 10 to start with, but you’re not too proud to save an extra couple of bucks.
The islands are tempting with their promises of Arizona and Hawaii vacations, free Pepsis and gift certificates to Port of Subs, but the real fun is pulling out the big clubs and seeing just how far away you can make a splash.

You could not have more fun at this price. A couple bucket of balls, a few clubs, and a lake. I hope we didn’t get the other golfers here upset by how loud we were laughing at ourselves for our lack of swing skills. Hey, those islands aren’t easy to hit.
At least we didn’t slice and knock out a neighbor. Though I think we came close.
Best entertainment for a family of four your hard earned money can buy. Come by here and enjoy yourself.

Locals buckets at a discount. It wasn’t too busy in the morning hours. Parking is always easy because they have reserved spots for the range.

A couple rounds in the darkness is what you can expect from this driving range. They open late until 2am sometimes, but at least until midnight on most days. You get to hit off into the pond and there are islands with prize pots in them. Funny thing is that they actually have a car on one of the islands, and you can tell it’s been hit by many golf balls. Still, we tried our best to make a dent in it. The prices are fair, 7 bucks for a medium basket of golf balls or 9 bucks for a large. You can also rent clubs from the caddy hut, it’s about 3 bucks for 3 clubs. I recommend a 7, 9, and a driver. It’s a great stress relief if you lost a few rounds at the casino!

cheap and fun place to go at night in the summer when it is finally comfortable outside, they are open late, and you can drink there.

This place was probably the best part about my stay in Reno.
It’s a driving range where you hit balls into a lake.
Prizes for hitting one of many island greens and other targets. Very fun.
Open late (2am) with fun music, pleanty of drinks and lots of people.
