Eagle Window & Door Company

I built my beautiful new two-​story house in 2010, and all of my windows came from Eagle Window and Door Company. I began having trouble with two of my remote windows after a couple of years, and — to my great surprise — the company that sold and installed the windows for me refused to come out or to try to fix the problem, but instead gave me Andersen’s 888 number to call.
An Andersen’s representative told me — over the phone — to call a local repairman, and that I would need to pay for any repairs out of my own pocket. I called the independent contractor (what were my choices?) and when he came out he was unable to get my remote windows to work — although he really did try his best.
My remote windows are now stuck in the closed position (this is fortunate because it’s getting cold out there), but they now appear to be both in-​operable and un-​repairable.
If I had known that my expensive remote windows were going to fail in less than five years — and that no one was going to be able to fix them — even if they wanted to do so, which Eagle Windows emphatically does not — I would have opted for a less expensive window.
If I had known that Eagle Window and Door was going to be completely hands-​off and disinterested when this happened I probably would have opted for a different window company too.
Update: October 2015 — I now have five inoperable Andersen’s Windows in my two-​story house, three of which are the old-​fashioned hand-​crank style, and two of which are high-​up and used to be remotely operated with an electric wall-​mount (when they worked.)
