Break Through Reno

Creative, challenging, unique, great people… and so much fun! Be sure to bring a couple friends/​family, since each room has multiple challenges to solve which are much easier with multiple hands and brains. I guarantee you haven’t done anything else like this this week.

What do you do with a group of tweens for a birthday party? Lock them up for an hour! Peace and quiet for the adults (though we played in a different room) and a challenge for the kids.
This place doesn’t «actually» do birthday parties but we came here for the fun and went out for pizza, cake and ice cream afterwards. The kids said that it was the best birthday party they had ever been to. It was challenging, encouraged team work and iPhones, iPods, etc weren’t on their persons. It was a win win for everyone!

Very fun group activity! The puzzles are hard, I will go again for sure.
I hope the facility does some soundproofing, the walls between the rooms carry sound. Also the room got super hot, so better air flow would be amazing!

I had never done anything like this before, so we took a chance and booked a reservation for my friend’s birthday. Our group of six chose the Betrayal at High Noon puzzle. I’m glad we had six people because the puzzle may have been even more difficult with less people, especially the beginning. Without giving too much away, we began our journey handcuffed in a jail cell racing the clock to decipher clues to prove our innocence and escape. No, we didn’t solve the puzzle, but when time ran out we happened to be on the last step and were told we could have finished within 5 more minutes.
I have so many positive things to say– the entire experience was fun, challenging, interactive and unique! The staff were energetic, helpful and very friendly. This is a great experience for friends, family, co-​workers, or even a group date! My only remark is that $ 20/​person seems a tiny bit steep for the one hour experience; I think I would be slightly happier paying $ 15-​$ 18. Nonetheless, this was an excellent activity and I’m looking forward to returning to try other puzzles.

Brought our family here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We had 5 adults and a 12 year old. We did the art room, which I can’t recall the name of, but upon arrival we learned it was the most difficult room. Hey, we are up for a challenge! Tons of clues, teamwork, laughter… an awesome time! We were 2 steps away from solving the clues and escaping our room. I say pretty darn good! I would love to go back and try the other rooms for sure.

First time coming here and I have to say, it’s definitely challenging. Clues after clues after clues.

My wife went and hasn’t stopped telling everyone how awesome this place is. Imaginative, original, just want Reno needs.

Did you know every review is 5 stars? Not just on Unilocal either, on their Facebook page too. Its easy to set up through their website, just note price is based per person ($ 20), not per room. So even though I anticipated 5 people and paid for 5 people, it is still worth 5 stars. We appreciated they are open on Sundays too.
The waiting room has stats on each room as far as record and percentage of people who escape. They have shirts for sale too. And they like to take the group picture at the end, if you notice, everyone has huge smiles because it is that much fun.
We decided to do the High Noon western room, which has an objective as well as just escaping. While our group technically escaped at the last second (with lots of help via walkie talkies), we didn’t get the objective. Its such a rush and is non-​stop from the moment the video ends. I do wish the screen was a bit bigger, but its still feasible to escape regardless. And if you are absolutely stuck, he will generally give you one hint to get going again, which is nice because you are paying so to be going in the completely wrong direction wasting time would suck.
They have 3 rooms currently, and are working on a 4^th. My friends and I already want to go back, its so addicting. I need like 500 rooms, or they need to periodically re-​do them because I can see this being a regular activity.
Gah, thinking about it makes me wish I was right there again. Also, it really is a diverse group activity, its fun to do with close friends who get along, but probably would be nice to have some people maybe you don’t know too well, so you’re minds aren’t all thinking the same thing. Since you are working together, I bet the workers have seen some fun dynamics haha.

Really great staff, and the challenge that our team did was fun, and informative of our communication skills! This is perfect for team building, or just a fun activity for friends as well :) would definitely recommend to anyone

My guy surprised me with some activities while we stayed in Reno, Break Through Reno being one of them. I had never heard of anything like it, and I was unsure, because I’m not the smartest. But, we went, and I did much better than I thought I would. We did the hardest room, and although we didn’t make it out, we got quite close to finishing.
This week we are going back to do the Mask, and I’m looking forward to it. I recommend this activity, it’s a lot of fun.

I’ve heard of these before and was always skeptical about these. Maybe because I was afraid of being locked in a room?
I had a lot of fun being able to do this with some of my co-​workers and do some team building. There was a lot of challenges and puzzles that we had to get through, but we definitely bonded and learned a lot coming out of it. I hope to visit again soon!

This experience was hands down my favorite part of visiting Reno.
It’s an awesome escape the room puzzle style game that’s really great for groups, bachelor or even bachelorette parties or families.
I won’t give any part of it away (plus they change it up anyway). Really had a great time with some old friends there.

+ THE ENVIRONMENT
This was me and (most of) my friend’s first time experiencing an escape the room type of game. Growing up, I would play the online computer version of this all the time. However, the in person version is much different and much harder. Without exposing too much, you get an hour to basically escape the locked room and solve a puzzle using clues in the room. This is a great team building experience with a group of friends.
+ THE PRICES
This place was actually a lot cheaper than I had expected. Unlike most places that charge you per person, Break Through Reno charges by the room since there are only about 4 – 6 people who can participate in each challenge. The challenge we decided to do was $ 100 in total so it was a pretty good deal ($ 20/​person, rather than the normal $ 30−40/person at other places).

Break Through Reno is a great place to exercise your brain, work as a group and have fun all at the same time.
This is the second escape room company we have visited. The first was in Vancouver, Canada and we loved it so much that we did two of their rooms. Coming into Reno, I looked for another escape room experience, and Break Through Reno was excellent.
We came as a set of parents and several teenage girls who all enjoy puzzles and games. It was the first escape room experience for my niece and our family friend. We did «the Mask». It was full of many different puzzles, clues and mysteries for us to solve. We did solve it and escaped-​with about 1 minute left!
We definitely recommend Break Through Reno, and are looking forward to our visit next year, when they will have even more rooms to escape from!

I went into this adventure thinking «I got this, yeah. Locked in a room with some clues? No problemo-​20 minutes and we’s out!»
So that’s not exactly how it went down.
We did get locked in a room, there were clues, and there was a time limit. 20 minutes came and passed… bye bye 20 minutes, hello one hour and what?! We didn’t figure it out? But we still had a really good time? And we were super close? What’s that you say, there is a second room so I can try and redeem myself? Well count me in.
Seriously, before we left we booked our next adventure. It was that much fun. We had a crew of 5 people, the max, and that seemed perfect.
I won’t give away any details! Just know if you make it through then you are smarter than I.

My mother-​in-​law discovered BTR and requested that we join her for an adventure on her birthday. I was skeptical, I’ll admit, but this experience was in-​freaking-​credible. It was a completely unique, fun experience and I’ll definitely be going back at some point (and taking guests there).
First of all, it’s very reasonably priced, which I was shocked about. Given my experience, they could definitely get away with charging more.
The activity is based on you and your guests being detectives looking to find a bank account number and exit code in a locked room. The guy working there gives you a quick backstory and a little information, and then… locks you in a room. The room is filled with clues, locked drawers, sliding panels, etc. Your job is to follow the clues and find the information you need before your time runs out.
You have to work together with your fellow detectives (all people you brought with you, no strangers as far as I know) to solve various puzzles and figure out the information you need, so it ends up being a ton of fun seeing different personalities come out and collaborating. It would be AWESOME as a work team-​building activity, mostly because the same goal is achieved without the hokey «fall into my arms» aspect.
The one sad thing is that there are currently only two scenarios, and it’s not something you can come back and do over again. I’ll definitely be back to do the second scenario, and will keep an ear out to hear when they change it out again.

This was epic! We had a group of 4 to play the game. To set the scene, we walk in and hear gun shots. There was dim lighting and a feeling of panic that shot through my veins. The further in we walked, the louder the shots got. We were then greeted by on of the staff. Turns out the gun shots were from a virtual gun range! We were taken to a room with a table, couch, and small office. We were asked to sit at the table and liability forms were passed out. The liability form sets the mood to be nice and freaky beforehand, but the feeling of fear soon goes away when you start playing! I can’t give away too much, so I won’t describe the room.
You have 60 minutes to solve a series of puzzles to try to get out of the room. The puzzles are suitable for various age groups and some are definitely tricky. Our group figured it out but not before the 60 min! Right as the door was opened we got it! They say about 10% or participants get it! We couldn’t stop talking about it after we left. I can’t wait for them to add another room!

Ok, Renoites, if you’re looking for a unique, challenging, but VERY FUN experience, you HAVE to check out BREAKTHROUGH RENO. It’s some sort of a mystery game where you have to find clues and solve puzzles in order to achieve a goal, which is to BREAK THROUGH! Get it? My friends and I did it, and I mean we did the challenge but we didn’t break through. But you know what, IT DOES NOT MATTER. The fun is in trying to solve the mystery.
I’m so glad that a place like this exists in Reno. And I hope it continues to thrive and open more breakthrough rooms. We’re excited to get our hands on the second room. Stay tuned. Meanwhile, go try it!

I heard about Break Through Reno a while ago on Facebook and have been looking forward to trying it since day 1. Yesterday, I went with 3 friends, and we attempted The Mask. After a quick info session, we were locked in a room with a flashlight and a walkie talkie. A screen in the room played a short video to orient us to the case, and once it ended, we were ready to start tearing apart the room!
We were a little scattered at first because there is so much to look at, but we got into our groove, communicated well, and started solving the clues. There are lots of clues and variables, none of which I will repeat here! It’s hard, but it should be hard! That’s the fun of it! Take people that you work well with, because teamwork is required!
They are going to open a 2^nd room next month, and I can’t wait to try it too!
