Established in 2009.

I have been practicing massage therapy since 2007.

I earned my Bachelors of Science in 2010.

I worked at Massage Envy from 2008 until 2011 and was the Lead Therapist when I left to pursue my private practice full time.

I provide a unique and effective form of body work and have worked with a wide range of people from professional athletes to stay at home moms!

After working at Massage Envy for 3 years and working my way up to the role of lead therapist, I knew I was ready for my own private practice.

I have combined my massage training with a Bachelors of Science in Health Ecology from UNR and 9 years of intensive training in the harmonious martial art of Aikido.

The massage therapy I provide is an extension of all facets of my study of life and movement.

I have also co-​founded multiple arts organizations in Northern Nevada including The Salvagery, Reno Art Works and The Potentialist Workshop.

Aric was great! I have a multitude of issues that he was able to work out. Neck, legs, I didn’t think I had an IT band issue… well I’ve got a whole bigger issue that the IT band is just a part of and he was explaining it. I’ve had multiple surgeries and I have MS. Which means I’m kinda a hot mess. He asks questions to get to the actual root of the issues. Not rushed at all. He was able to release some horribly tight muscles and some of the tension I’ve been carrying for months. I’m not into the whale songs and chirping birds and he put on a cool mix that was perfect. He obviously cares about what he is doing. I was feeling chatty and so he was cool about talking which was cool. The location is a little strange at first. (I’m new to the area) Until you realize it is an artist collaborative. So when you drive up and it is after dark, don’t worry ladies, it’s legit. ;)

I’ve been seeing Aric for massages for several months and I’m very sad to be leaving Reno and not able to see him again regularly. I’ve seen a number of massage therapists and he is the best one. He is very intuitive about knowing what your body needs, and unlike some massage therapists, really believes it when you say you like firm pressure.
He is also a great person and really takes the time to talk to you and get to know you. If I could give him more than five stars, I would.

Earlier this month, my neck started to kill me one day at work. I needed a massage. Finally, I have a big girl job and can pay for things like massages! A Unilocal search brought Aric Shapiro to my attention. Because I was still at work and didn’t want to leave my desk to make a call to schedule the massage, it was great that I was able to schedule my appointment online at his «The Art of Massage»
site. So convenient!
I’ve had two massages with Aric, and I am hooked. As Sandi H. noted, Aric talks with you before the session begins about how your day has been and how your body has been feeling. He’s knowledgeable and pleasant and conveys competence and empathy. His skills as a masseur are fantastic, alternating quite precise manipulations with deep tissue strokes. It’s stimulating and soothing simultaneously, and I leave feeling great about my body. He totally got rid of whatever was making my neck angry during my first session. With his rates being only $ 60 for 60 minutes, I can afford to go every three or four weeks.
Aric is great. I highly recommend him.

While normally a fan, I don’t know that I’ll be going back anytime soon. While normally, I am supposed to be the relaxed one, he was falling asleep throughout the entire 90 minute massage. I recognize I should have said something and stopped the massage but kept thinking maybe I was wrong. The technique was nowhere near as solid as he had done in the past. The whole thing was super awkward and I was very disappointed. When alert he is fantastic I just don’t know that I am willing to gamble on my massages in the future.

From someone who seeks great massage wherever I go (and I know what you’re thinking) Aric is competing with the blind masseuses of China, the lithe masseuses of Thailand, the hot oil Nepali head massage, plus at least a dozen U.S. masseuses over the years, and guess what — he comes in first place! This guy completely involves himself in figuring out the causes of my pain, and systematically goes about resolving them, and I don’t make it easy — I truly appreciate how deeply he invests himself in his craft, how he loses himself in the process, and what he says while he works (his train of thought is always interesting too). For a truly meaningful and pain relieving experience, try Aric!

I was impressed with the detailed intake. My neck had really been bothering me and Aric spent at least a half hour just on my neck to begin with. It has been a little over a week since my massage and my neck is still feeling great. Overall, it was a great experience and I look forward to my next massage with him!

I am very particular in my LMP’s, as I have lifelong athletic injuries. Providers without a strong grasp of anatomy hurt me. Aric Shapiro is incredibly in tune with human anatomy and the way our bodies work. That knowledge, coupled by his patience has been the key to relief of my shoulder, back and neck pain. I have sought his care multiple times, and will continue to regard him as my favored LMP.

Shapiro is the man. In a lot of ways… number one: He cares how your day is, what mood you are in going into the massage. Number 2) he’s been doing this for awhile, so take a deep breath and relax, you’re in good hands. Number 3) If you like deep tissue, he’s the best. And lastly… he’s affordable. We all need a massage, especially at a good price!

Aric is truly great!
I train in a Martial Art and have 2 very physically demanding jobs. As a result my body gets really sore, riddled with knots, and «damaged.»
Aric really took the time to understand what my specific needs were and tailors the massage to those needs. He completely removed knots that I had on my back that other LTM didn’t in previous massages that had been really bothering me. I felt 100% better!!!
I totally would recommend Aric anytime!

Aric is great! He really takes the time to understand what each person’s specific needs are and tailors the massage to those needs, unlike many other LMTs who have their routine and don’t deviate much from it even when you specifically ask them to. The flipping bomb. I’m not a friend of Aric’s – well, I am now – but I had not met him before the massage. I’ve been a massage regular all my life. I could tell right away he knew what he was doing by his ability to assess areas of need – without a hint of judgement – by just standing there talking before we even began. Aric has a unique talent. Not only have areas of tension been addressed in this single visit, but I feel emotionally different as well, a bit more whole. That has a lot to do with me with a lot of credit to Aric for opening up the space. Huge fan. Really looking forward to continuing this line of healing therapy.

If your looking for one of the best massages in town, Arik is it! He is extremely knowledgeable and knows exactly what to do to fix you up. I have a lot a neck issues due to working at a desk all day and I have never had anyone work my neck like Arik. Forget the health spas for a quick relax and go for a more permanent solution, see Arik. Massage should truly be something you do as frequently as you can. I would call it preventative medicine.

Aric is simply amazing. His knowledge of health and body movement make his massage extra special. His prices are totally reasonable and the hot stones and heated massage bed are really nice extras he throws in for free. Love him :-)
