This place is absolutely gold!!!
Dawn the owner saved my wedding day. She completely re-​did all the horrible work a prior seamstress had done, which was not an easy task given the type of fabric my dress was and the timeline I was now in. She did it, reassuring me it would be perfect and it was done super fast! She also saved 2 of my bridesmaids that waited until 2 days before the wedding to have all of their alterations done.
Again, she did it no time and for very reasonable price when we were in a frantic craze!!! She does quality work and she ALWAYS has you pay when you pick up, unlike most places she wants you to be happy!

This place was the WORST! They ruined my husbands suit! We were sent to Alterations Connections from Dillards where we bought the suit.
The lady who tailored my husbands suit was not friendly or seemed very enthusiastic about her job.
First she didn’t even say anything when she came into the room. Then when i was faced away from her (i thought she was another person who needed clothes altered) she said something about how tired she was and it was hot outside.
Then my husband came out of the dressing room and she said something and my husband asked if she was the tailor and she said yes. She seemed annoyed that we had to ask.
She didn’t take in the jacket to the suit at all so it was was to baggy on the sides. Also, THE LEGS WERE NOT THE SAME LENGTH! One leg was longer than the other and the legs were to short! You could see my husbands socks while he was standing.
This is totally unacceptable! My husband pants to his suit are ruined! The day before he had an important presentation we had to get a different suit because the one tailored here was awful!!!
I will never go back to this place and I advise anyone looking for a tailor GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IF YOU VALUE YOUR CLOTHING!!!

PAY ATTENTION TO ALL THE BAD REVIEWS!!! I wish I could give them a negative number of stars!!! There is a reason for them!!! I went to pick my daughters prom dress up (75.00 to hem) and I could have sworn I paid when I dropped the dress off. I still think I might have BUT when I told the owner Dawn, that thought I had paid when I dropped the dress off, her bouncer son came out and threw a stack of receipts in my face yelling at me that I was trying to rip them off. He scared both my daughter & I. Over 75.00, really??? I was shocked. I offered to deal with Dawn & pay again and just simply call her for a refund if I found a duplicate did exist but she wouldn’t let me pay and take my daughters dress so I had to call the police to come help me get my dress. Dawn also embarrassed me & called me names in front of a store full of people. Will be filing a BBB complaint & calling various agencies that protect consumers from this type of abuse, to report them. This isn’t right. Don’t give them your business!!!

Great place to get military uniforms done. Thanks for sewing my rank on my uniform. Also they are good military regulations for the military. It was done correct. For all you military guys they are great with the regs. Also I took some jeans with holes in them to get patch jobs done. They did a good job. Thanks again for your great work.
These guys will let you know how it is. They can do a lot of alterations but they will let you know if it is not possible. I took in some leathers in here to get altered and they said they could do it but it was on the pricey size. They suggest just to either sell the item and get one that fits better. The work needed to get what I wanted done was to much. But they have always took care of my uniforms.
I love this place because there is no sugar coating here. They will let you know up front how it is going to be. No fluff, just straight to the point and their work is exceptional. The parking is easy to get in and out off. It is in the back of the shop and there is a bit of parking right on Virginia St. also. I would recommend this place to people who have thick sink. Mainly people in the military, we get their kind of humor. Thanks for reading my review.

Last minute I needed some help having el wire placed on my Halloween costume. So I searched Unilocal and found Dawns alterations shop located on Arroyo and South Virginia Street. I called Dawn and explained my situation and her response was causal and confident that she can fix my costume. I went down to the shop explained what I was looking for and she said it will be done in a couple hours. I returned in a couple hours and picked up my bunny costume that is now bringing with el wire. I am so happy that Dawn was my go to and was able to take care of everything I needed. The price was just right for the amount of time I gave Dawn to make the alterations. I do recommend Dawn for a last minute alteration. I could not be more happy to have decided to go with her to attach my el wire. I give Dawn a 5 star rating!

This place went above and beyond. I drove in from outta town and they were so nice about deadlines and travel. She did a perfect job with my alterations and the dress fits perfect. I feel like a queen and she was so kind at my orignal fitting. The bustle is beautiful and every tip she recommended turned out better than expected. This is now out go to place!

So I went to get my pants altered here and I felt very unwelcome. There was an older woman working there who didn’t even greet me as I walked in, after waiting for a little while, she looked at me and didn’t even say hi, instead she pointed me to come over to here, as if she owned me or something. She asks if I needed to get changed, and said to go over there, pointing to the change room. Straight up I went in and told myself I wouldn’t want to do business with her, she might be good at what she does, but she was rude to me, and maybe somewhat racists. So I told her to forget it and I left. I was glad I did, say if my clothes didn’t turn out right, I had a good feeling she wouldn’t give a shizz, and she would just tell me to leave and f– off. Really, she was rude. There are much better places out there. Also, the place didn’t look that nice, it looked old and rusty, change rooms aren’t even that private!

I can’t believe that a tailor could screw up so bad on hemming a dress!!! Upon going in to get my prom dress altered by her, she pinned it at 1 inch off the ground with my heels on –I watched her measure it with her ruler and everything! Then I come back and the dress is so short that without my heels on it still shows my feet! Not to mention when I put my heels on, the dress doesn’t even come near the ground! So I went home and measured it and now it is 3 inches from the ground! I went back and told her it was too short and she said there’s not much you can do after you cut it. BUT IT WAS HER FAULT FOR CUTTING IT TOO SHORT!!! So she tried steaming it to make it longer (which worked). But then after she made this mistake, she told me to go home and steam it myself. So I am spending hours a day trying to pull the material and steam it after she screwed up! And she was talking about how I would only be wearing my heels for a short amount of time, so even though I gave her specific instructions, she took it upon HERSELF to cut it 2 additional inches shorter because I’d only be wearing my heels for a short amount of time!!! She never asked me if that’s what I wanted, she just went ahead and did it! I paid a steep price for this alteration and now I’m sitting at home with an iron steaming my dress to make it longer after she screwed up my dress!

Just had some 5.11 rip-​stop pants hemmed up at this place. Haven’t even tried them on and I’m 100% certain they were done exactly how I asked them to be done. The tailor and the man behind the counter were both very courteous and polite in person. The lady on the phone was very blunt and to the point but she knows her craft. At first I thought she was rude but after visiting their shop my opinions immediately changed. She seemed very busy, but I will be going here from now on with my business for any tailoring needs. (Also, as a side note, I thought the wood furniture in their shop was awesome! It looked to be very solid and sturdy. Next time I go in i’ll be looking to buy one of their pieces!)

Dawn did a great job on altering my bridesmaid dress. I’m only 5’4 so most dresses dwarf me. I had ordered a dress online which was advertised as petite. Yeah right! It was made for someone six feet tall practically! She removed the train and a huge amount of length and the dress is now perfect. It was completed exactly in the time frame which was very short. I’m extremely pleased with how the dress looks and I will definitely be back for my next formal occasion.

All I care about is Quality work. I discovered this place a little over a year ago and have returned many many times because while it might be a little more expensive than a little old lady sitting in the corner of a dry cleaning store, the quality of the job is far superior. I recommend it based solely on my 100% satisfaction.

Dawn is racist. I heard her making blatant racist comments in her store, in front of customers. As if that weren’t enough, the work she does is mediocre and overpriced.

I took my favorite Lilly Pulitzer dress here to be shortened. She did a great job. Looks like I bought it the length that it is now.
She was also courteous and polite, and my dress was ready when it was supposed to be. Decent price, too.
When I went here, there were other people in dressing rooms, too, which I think shows that she runs a successful and busy business, and that she is good at what she does.
I would definitely come here again and recommend to others.

I have been going to Alterations Connection for several years now and have nothing but a great experience and everything has been perfectly done, I never even try things on after the alteration as I know they will be perfect.

I came here to get my wedding dress altered and the lady did an amazing job. I had to buy my dress several sizes too big because of my larger chest. My dress kinda looked like a lace table cloth. However, two fittings later and it looked amazing. It fit perfectly, and the owner was an amazing help with the bustle and suggestions about length. She’s been doing this type of work for years back East, and now has brought all her experience to Reno.
It took four fittings to get my dress fitting perfect, but the people here were accommodating and incredibly friendly throughout the entire process. I am super pleased with the end result and will certainly be coming here for all my other alteration needs. The best part? Very affordable.

Straight to the Point– (I’m a long time customer)
1) Dawn’s prices are double market price, 2) Shows favoritism to special customers, 3) Roughly displays the establishment’s party affiliation (either by having Rush Limbaugh airing throughout the place or through her vituperate comments), 4) Overall, bad business posture.
I’m surprised she’s still in business, albeit there aren’t many well-​known seamstress/​tailors in Reno, Nevada so that may help explain why she’s still in the market.
The reason why I kept going back to Dawn (like a buffoon) was because there arent many other suppliers in the market (seamstresses). But I did my research and here you are my friend:

I’m a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I used to tailor my clothes a lot, however after I let myself go and get out of shape, I stopped caring. When I did have my clothes tailored, I remember it being kinda pricey, but I didn’t care because the clothes looked nice on me. Now that I’m healthy once again I decided to start tailoring my clothes again, however my budget isn’t what it used to be. Naturally I looked on Unilocal to see the good alteration locations, and ran across Alterations Connection, an saw some bad reviews, so I was a little hesitant. I figured based on my budget though I’ll give them a shot since it was alot cheaper than what I used to pay.
I walked in and the customers in line were talking with the owner and they were laughing and discussing off topic things (usually indicative of a longer term professional relationship), which is a good sign for customer base. I felt comfortable right away, which is good if they’re going to be measuring you y-​know, and she was very easy to talk to. She was quick which was good because I was in a hurry. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount for the 2 items I needed altered, and she gave me the option to pay up front or at pick up. She made me feel confident, therefore I decided to pay and tip her up front,
Upon pickup which was a very reasonable time frame, I got my clothes and they were just as pleasant as before, and I didn’t even try them on till I got home. The job was exquisitely done, and I was very pleased. NOTE TO SELF: you can get good work without breaking budget. Not sure what the bad reviews are all about, but I guess that’s nature of the beast. I’m sure if more people that had «good» experiences chose to review, it would probably be lopsided in Alterations Connection’s favor. The reality is typically bad experience customers are the ones to review first.

Dawn fixed the alterations on my wedding dress after I took it to another place that totally messed it up. I wish I had just taken it to Alterations Connection in the first place! I was very happy with her work, so I recently asked her to alter a bridesmaid dress for me with a super fast turnaround, and again I was so pleased with her work! I definitely recommend Alterations Connection for your alterations needs.

I can’t believe this place is still in business. I have NEVER met a more rude business owner in my life! The moment my boyfriend and I walked in the door, there was no greeting; they literally looked at us and put their heads down. Then after about 20 seconds she finally asked what I wanted. I only needed two pair of pants hemmed so I proceeded to the changing room. While I was in there her son was at the register yelling how this other customer was cheap and how she was playing them… That customer was still in the shop and in earshot !!! At this point I was appalled but I was half way done and just wanted to get out of there ASAP! (I was really uncomfortable) Then my boyfriend tried to be polite and ask her how her day was going. I didn’t know this until after we left the shop, but apparently she looked at him for a couple seconds, started walking away and responded, «I’m not going to even answer that». My blood was boiling when he finally told me what she had said! If he told me in the shop I would of ripped my pants back from the Bitch and proceeds into the next place. I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER come back to this shop! Without a doubt this is the worst customer service I have ever received hands down! Unbelievable!

I heard about this place thru a co-worker…said she does best patch job in Reno! I HAD TO THROW AWAY the pants she patched up for me! the worst job i have ever seen… on top of not being very friendly!
I want my money back!
