Action Lawn & Landscape

First the good. Alejandra is fantastic (the office administrator). Now the bad. I paid roughly $ 150 in advance for them to come out and do a «one time cleanup» of a house I recently moved into. Evette came here, met with me, looked it over and provided the quote. I agreed and after the rains a week or so ago, their team came out (3 individuals). They were supposed to trim, clean and spray weed killer (front and back). When I was in the back yard with the lead of the team, I told him «oh and while you’re trimming, if you want to get the stuff poking through the fence feel free to do so». The guy nodded. I also said «when you’re done let me know and we can review things». So they were here for roughly an hour doing their thing — and then bam — they just left without saying anything. I went outside and saw an entire area in the front wasn’t blown or cleaned, and on the front side of the house there was still a lot of debris. They did trim the «mini jungle» I had on the rear side of the house, and they also trimmed the sage poking through the fence, but a ton of debris was left. I wanted to wait a few days to see if the green weeds were going to die (I didn’t know the extent of the spraying they did). I called and notified Evette, and she drove out here and agreed with me they didn’t clean up the front areas. But when she saw the debris from the trimmed sage that was poking through the fence, she said «oh they weren’t supposed to do that». Well, it took them all of 3 minutes. I apologized and told her I didn’t mean to go beyond the order and if they did a fantastic job elsewhere I’d be OK paying a little extra; but the problem is they did a mediocre job at best (which she agreed with!). So she said she would send them back out «next week» (this was last week). Well, I called yesterday and Evette informed me «the owner» decided not to send them back out because they trimmed the sage and that wasn’t part of the deal (wholly ignoring the fact they didn’t even do the cleaning they were supposed to, which Evette even confirmed). We’re talking about something that probably took 3 – 4 minutes total (no joke). I told her I was very disappointed and asked if they would at least come back out and spray again since they missed a number of areas (I already have green popping up!). She said she would check with the owner and get back to me (yesterday). So here we are; no response, and in the end, it doesn’t really matter. They didn’t do a good job at all (cleaning up) and then made excuses as to why they weren’t going to come out and do the job they originally said they would. So, I recommend passing on this company. I certainly won’t use them again. Now I have to go out and get my own weed killer and spray down areas they missed and clean up the debris they left behind…

Transformed our yard from a dirt view to a delightful vista! As a first time homeowner my wife and I are naturally very proud of the home we purchased. The yard, however, was incomplete. We have very high expectations and demanded a lot from the potential landscapers. I used October, November & December to interview landscaping companies. The first two providers got fired for poor communication and failure to provide a cost estimate in the time they said they would. My estimator, landscape architect & main point of contact, Jacob H. exceeded my expectations and I awarded them with my business.
Scope. Their job was enormous. Paver pathway from front driveway to the opposite corner in the backyard. Concrete patio 8’x15’. Estate Wall retaining planter 78′ long 18″ to 21″ tall. Stonewall II Peanut Planter 28′ long x 6′ to 10′ wide or 68′ total (proudly the largest one they have made to date, my milkweed garden). Irrigation to the planter and the 21 new plants on different sprinkler zones.
Design and approval. The house exists within an Home Owners Association. Landscape plans must be cleared with the Design Review Committee. Their criteria is outlined in a 24 page document. Jacob H. drafted all the required documents which created a trifecta of clarity between Action Lawn & Landscape, the HOA and me the customer. January and February was used to revise the plant list, materials and architectural drawings. HOA approval was received in late February. The HOA expressed their satisfaction with the architectural drawings on both occasions that I presented them.
Execution of the project. In March we broke ground on the project. All work was completed as planned and on schedule. Materials were delivered as needed. The crew worked for eight days, even working in the rain. I requested that the grade be adjusted near the fence and it was taken care of properly. We did a final walk thru of the project two days later, no problems were found.
It is now one month later (at time of review). I have been enjoying watching the plants grow. The seeds I planted in my new 180 square foot peanut planter are sprouting. Its going to be the coolest pollinator garden I have ever had. The monarch butterflies are going to love the new milkweed plants. Thank you Action Lawn & Landscape!

I paid in full in advance for lawn and sprinkler service for the 2015 season. Lawn service included everything except cutting the grass. There were to be monthly visits for lawn and monthly for sprinkler. According to Action’s scheduling, these were separate visits. I told the supervisor that I always keep the gate to the backyard locked, so I needed to know before they came so I could unlock it. Here is what occurred. Problem items are marked with an asterisk.

The crew that came out did a good job. All of the items above with an asterisk mean only half of my yard was serviced because the office couldn’t set and keep to a schedule. After the first time repair was provided at a high labor rate, I didn’t allow them to provide a second repair and just did it myself.

Terrible customer service. They miss appointments, then show up when you’re not expecting them. They do incomplete work, then get defensive when you bring it up! Avoid like the plague! Don’t bother! One of the absolute worst customer services experiences EVER!

I had an emergency leak and they were highly recommended. They first said they could come out the next day. Then they told me later I had to wait a week. Now, a week later, they just called to say they were «over-​booked» and couldn’t make it out tomorrow. Not what you want to hear with a water leak. I could not recommend a business that acts this way.

My review is for a designer/​estimator Jacob Hunter. He is professional, talented and nice to work with. He provided a very detailed (one of the most detailed estimate, the amounts were stated with the precision to cents) for my backyard on the 2 nd day after the initial meeting. Moreover, he provided a visual and beautiful picture along with the proposal.
I appreciated his time and efforts. We tried three different options in order to make it affordable. I would highly recommend him as your designer.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t be able to afford Action Lawn & Landscape proposals since their construction crew prices were way above the proposals of other companies.

Saul Vega is a very courteous fellow and comes across as really wanting to help solve your lawn issue. BEWARE: Saul will recommend very expensive additions that raise Action’s prices to a level of unreasonableness. He suggested that a third irrigation zone would be needed without actually checking water pressure readings. This resulted in upping his estimate by over $ 3000. His estimates border on the unreasonable charging me (which I did agree to) $ 1100 for weeding and trimming less than ½ acre. Subsequent estimates by other landscapers were less than half. Be cautious in hiring Action Lawn – Saul Vega: be sure to compare pricing. AND, I did not need a third irrigation zone according to two highly regarded firms here in Reno.

They operate like your cable installer. Their appointment model is, «We can be there sometime Friday, but we won’t tell you when, so you’ll have to sit at home all day until it is convenient for us to stop by. And we won’t give you any general times and don’t accept specific appointments». Sorry, but no thank you.

Often people will write a review if they’ve had bad or great service with a company, this review is out of the ordinary. First, I can not stress how fantastic and what a great company Action Lawn & Landscape is!
This company should receive the Northern Nevada business award of the year 2015 and this is why I write this: we had an issue with our service, and the owner personally took his time to resolve this matter in a very professional and courteous manner. This type of service is extremely rare here in Reno, Nevada, yet, as they say «actions speak louder than words». Our situation was very serious, and was handled and resolved to our satisfaction.
Our respect and admiration for the integrity and honor of Action Lawn & Landscape’s business ethics and service are unparalleled compared with 99% of businesses in Reno. We highly recommend them!!! Landscaping may not be a «glamorous job», but their work creates beautiful landscapes and keeps the better parts of Reno looking fantastic. They are punctual, professional, friendly, and do a great job!!! if there is a problem they promptly address it and make it right. They really care about their customers!

Sal, Jacob, and team are amazing! I have uses them for years and always do a fantastic job. They recently landscaped my entire backyard (not a small job) in a week. I recommend using them from any project large or small.

Fantastic! I called with a water leakage emergency and they came out, dug up my system, and found that the source of my $ 500/​mo water bill was and old busted pipe that the former landscape company just never bothered to look hard enough to find! They were thorough and tested the system at each phase to ensure it all worked. I also love that they have a program that goes over everything you are going to need throughout the season, add it up, and apportion the payments out so your monthly payment is the same every time! No more surprises, just awesome green lawn!

We have used Action lawn and landscape for many years now and I can not say enough good things about Saul and his crew. They have completed many projects at our home (landscaping, paver patio and lawn maintenance) all done beautifully and with the utmost professionalism.

Action Lawn & Landscape did a excellent job on our front and back yard (xeroscape, drip system, sprinkers, sod, tree removal & planting). We have received several comments about how nice everything looks and we highly recommend them!

I had an excellent experience when by backyard was finished by Action Lawn. I posted pictures both before and after that you can find under photos.
We purchased a new construction home in March 2013 and wanted our backyard finished by Memorial Day. Several contractors came out to give us ideas and estimates (too many for me to remember). Action Lawn and Landscape had the owner Saul come out to do the estimate. He was the most professional and I liked his ideas. He has a lot of knowledge of landscaping and I can tell that he has actually done the work. A couple of the large contractors in town quoted us twice what Action Lawn cost, with fewer features. They also sent out guys that called themselves «designers» and didn’t know as much as Saul did about what could be done. I appreciated Saul’s down to earth and professional attitude. He was willing to listen to what I wanted in my yard and made it happen.
The crew was amazing and professional. All of the guys were true professionals arriving early and working hard all day. The guys appeared to be in their 30’s and were clean-​cut. I felt safe having them work in my yard. They also appeared to know what they were doing. Several of our neighbors have hired other companies that took twice or triple the time to complete their jobs. I was pleased that Action Lawn was finished in five days.
We had all of the following installed: cement on the side of the house, patio paver patio (all leveled perfectly), grass, irrigation, drainage, raised bed garden, plants and vines, decomposed granite, and a decomposed granite patio in one area for a fire pit.
I am very pleased with my results from Action Lawn and Landscape. From the estimate, to the work, to the price (very good price), and timely work. They are great. I highly recommend without hesitation.

This company is the most dishonest criminal company that has ever done work for me. All I wanted done is my sprinklers turned on for the spring and my lawn dethatched. They charged me $ 200 for this, even though my past yard guys did it for under $ 130. After a month or so went by, they sent me a bill for more work they claimed they did. I had never signed off on this work. It was an additional $ 150 bill out of no where. I tried to call their office, no one answered, I figured it was an error that they had resolved. Then a month later they sent another bill with more new charges.
They did the same thing to my mother two weeks later. Any other lawn company in town will do the same job without the dishonesty and criminal behavior that Action exhibits. I will never use them again and I will never recommend them.

TERRIFIC JOB — Couldn’t be happier!!! I’m a new homeowner that needed to completely redo my lawn and add new landscaping. Over 3000 sq. ft. of new sod, added concrete curbing, rocks that matched my pre-​existing landscaping, 2 new shrubs, 2 new trees, mulch/​edging around my trees, and got my irrigation system up and working again. Did the whole job for a fair, reasonable price, in a VERY timely fashion! Saul, the manager, was super pleasant to work with, as were his workers — VERY PROFESSIONAL! We’ve been using them for 2 years now, and counting… We called them again when we had a sprinkler leak (after the winter) — they were out the same day and had it fixed (and checked all the other sprinklers too) in less than 30 min. AWESOME SERVICE — No one else we would ever use!

I have used their services for about 6 years, my lawn always looks nice, workers of this company are well trained and very professionals, respect overall. Local business dealing with local people, affordable rates, professional service, always on time!
