Dreamer’s Salon & Day Spa

I had a very weird and uncomfortable «pregnancy massage» I continued to give the spa the benefit of the doubt. The massage began with me and the masseuse getting into a disagreement about me NOT laying on my stomach for my prenatal massage. I should have listened to my gut and left just than, however I like to support small businesses and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt that things would get better. Things NEVER got better. After leaving my massage and letting the experience sink in I decided to send them an email the next morning. I resent the email at least 5 times and called multiple times without any return. It took my lawyer contacting the manager to finally receive a response. I explained how unhappy I was with the massage and wanted my information removed from their system and a refund. The manager explained to me that the masseuse is NOT an employee of Dreamers, she just rents the room so she would try and see if she could get me a refund and call me back. It has been another 2 weeks since hearing from the unpleasant. At this point it is not worth my time or energy to try and receive a refund or pursue this any longer as I am 9 and half months pregnant. I will NEVER return to this «spa» and will NEVER recommend them to anyone. Terrible service, weird, uncomfortable and bad massage and a rude manager. As a small business owner myself it makes me sad that this problem could not be resolved and that I have to write such a negative review.

Everytime I come here I come as a walk in, and I’m always seen by Suzanne (the owner) within minutes. She’s fantastic! I usually go for very vintage/​rockabilly hair styles, and she always does them right. For $ 55 I get exactly what I want, and I will keep coming back to her.

I just moved back to Reisterstown recently and decided to try Dreamers for a manicure. I’m not sure if I’ll be back, at least for my nails; I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the experience.
My appointment was at 1pm. I arrived a few moments prior and was asked if I could come back because my manicurist was running behind. I asked, «How behind?» And they weren’t sure, but I clarified, «When do you want me to come back?» 20 minutes. I was annoyed and said I would have appreciated a phone call, but left for 20 minutes. When I came back in, she still wasn’t ready. I pre-​paid (although I was hesitant to do so) and was escorted downstairs to pick a nail color. I picked a color and waited. My manicurist finally appeared, 30 minutes after my appointment. The staff was apologetic and nice, but I am still not sure why she was so behind. There are any number of nail salons in the area where you can just walk in without an appointment; why bother making an appointment when they aren’t honored? I also would have thought perhaps they’d offer me some sort of discount or extra service to make up for the inconvenience, but nope.
I ended up opting for a French manicure after finding out that my manicurist wasn’t able to do nail art. (Really? There are manicurists who can’t do nail art?!) The French manicure was acceptable, though uneven and imperfect on a few nails. She kind of jostled me around as I was drying to make room for some young girls (by young, I mean 4 year olds) and I ended up messing up my still-​drying thumb. The patch job is acceptable, but not great.
I am tempted to try out some other nail salons, where they will do nail art and I will be seen promptly. Truth be told, while Dreamers has a nicer lobby, the actual nail area was no cleaner or nicer than what you’d find in your average nail place in a strip mall. I noticed lots of dust, lots of gunk on surfaces, the vinyl on the wrist-​pad was cracked, and I would have expected more from Dreamers, which would seem to be more «upscale» than strip-​mall nail joints. (That’s why I tried it out.) The reality of Dreamers doesn’t quite match up to what they try to project from the outside.
I know there are hair stylists here that my family swears by and I haven’t tried out any of the other spa services, but just for nails, Dreamers doesn’t really offer any more than other nail salons in the area. I might be back, but I was a little disappointed.

I really hate to lower my review because I’ve been coming here for so long but the mani-​pedis and eyebrow waxing isn’t what it used to be.
I was really disappointed with the lack of attention to detail with my eyebrows the last time. Elaine used to trim them and be much more particular. It just wasn’t the same.
As for the manicures and pedicures with Laura, they were kind of painful and her nails are rather sharp and were digging into my skin. I definitely flinched in response a couple times but she didn’t notice. I felt too awkward to say anything because I’ve known her for longer and that makes it harder for me to say anything. Plus, I think my French manicure looks a bit sloppy.
I still give Becky a full 5 stars. I’ll always have her do my hair, but I will be on the search for a new nail and waxing place.

Elaine my massage therapist is fantastic! She cured my neck, shoulder, and lower back pain. I’d been suffering with the pain for two years and I had been going to a chiropractor for 1.5 years (with no improvement and bad dent in my pocket). Elaine helped relax the muscles and get my blood circulating properly. Thank you Elaine (my miracle worker)!

As a guy, I never thought I would be getting my haircut at a salon. But I followed Brittany, who used to cut my hair at a Hair Cuttery, and I’ve never been happier with my decision. The prices are extremely reasonable in terms of other salons, especially for just a men’s haircut, and Brittany is absolutely amazing. I can’t speak for any services that women would get, but if you’re a guy and want a good haircut from an incredibly talented and fun girl, go to Dreamer’s and see Brittany!

First off — Elaine is great. She did my wax and was super funny and pleasant to be around. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the lady who I met upon first arriving at the spa. The spa is in the yellow house to the right and the salon is to the left in another converted home. Upon arriving, someone who worked at the salon saw me outside and eyed me questioningly. «Can I help you?» she asked… but not in a way that implied any sort of pleasantries, rather more of a «what are you doing here.» I took it in stride and told her «No. I am fine. I just have a spa appointment.» Her reply (gruffly): «With who?» Again, not helpful, but as if she didn’t believe me. She almost barked it! I wanted to snap back and be like «First of all, it’s with WHOM. Second of all, you little (*insert expletive here*), who the (*insert expletive here*) do you think you are talking to like that.» However, ever the lady, I smiled it off and said, «I“m not sure. But I know it’s here and I know it’s now, so if you will excuse me…» and then I walked in.
I told Elaine, my spa professional, right away what happened and she apologized for the exchange, but it really wasn’t on her to do so. After all, she wasn’t the rude one. I asked her who the lady was and if she was the owner, and she said no… that the lady was actually the manager. I tabled it since I wanted my experience with Elaine to be comfortable for both of us, and I am happy I did. Although I have had better waxes, she was really funny and kind and did her best to make me comfortable. I would consider going back to her for future services if it weren’t for the horrible first impression I got from Dreamer’s to begin with.
I am not one to immediately jump to conclusions that I was treated a certain way or questioned a bit more because of race, but every now and again there is a 6^th sense about these things, and I have to say that the first lady I met there totally gave me that vibe. The only thing saving me from giving this establishment a complete 1-​star rating is Elaine’s pleasant personality. This review is for the overall experience I had that was tarnished as a result of that initial exchange, not for Elaine’s services. Please be clear.

This salon has no consideration for your time. Even if you come with an appointment it means nothing as they will continue to squeeze people in so they can make more money. I found the owner to be extremely difficult and disrespectful. The color was so bad that I went to another salon for them to fix it. PASS!

The owner cuts/​colors my hair and she knows just want to do, even if I’m not sure. Fantastic colorist. I used to think her prices were a little high but, after talking with other people, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just damned expensive being beautiful! My only complaint is that she rarely turns anyone away and so she’s often «working people in.» The upside is that I get freebie treatments like gloss, etc. when I look too annoyed. The downside is that I’m there a verrrry long time. It’s a great looking place and everyone is friendly so it’s not too terrible. If you’re in a hurry, though, but sure to let her know when you book the appointment!
