Movies At Midway

Competition is good for the consumer– and the Movies at Midway is obviously enjoying a long run as the only theater for many miles. It’s older, musty and needs new seats. They often don’t play films we want to see. They finally succumbed to pressure from the Dollar Tree down the strip and lowered all their previously exorbitant candy prices to $ 1. They don’t sell coffee at the concession stand but today forced me to throw away a cup I had brought in from the Dunkin Donuts next door. Because they can. They recently spent a lot of money ‘upgrading’ the digital signage out front. They would have been better to upgrade the electronics inside. As I write this, static slides from Power Point are on the screen as the music track is somehow dropping in and out. Couldn’t we watch videos while we wait in a movie theater? We come because it’s the only game in town. Not because this is a good theater.

Theater is mediocre. Stadium seating is worn out. Everything seems just a little shabby and outdated. Bathrooms were clean, however, as was the theater where our movie played. Many movies are playing due to the size of the theater complex, which is nice. If you are at the beach, you really have no choice but to visit Movies at Midway to catch a first run film.
We went on a rainy day, so it was MOBBED and the management did not staff appropriately. Lines were very, very long, including at the self-​service kiosks. Snack bar line took about 18 minutes before we were served due to lines. The snack bar is CASH ONLY — be prepared.
This theater is general seating — you cannot reserve or choose a specific seat at time of ticketing.

This theater needs a lot of work and some competition. Fair updates to the lobby and dollar candy are good, but check out the dusty fabric walls and water damaged ceilings and squeaky seats. You’re breathing this awful air and paying top dollar!

The theater is obviously a little old, but clean and comfortable. The movie looks and sounds good. On the film side the experience was completely enjoyable. Have to take away some stars because the popcorn is so inexcusably bad. Popcorn isn’t that complicated, but if you put it in a bag and leave that bag under a heat lamp for a long time you end up with popcorn that is lukewarm, soggy (trapped steam), and that tastes like cardboard. And the butter? What even is that because it is not butter. Movie companies have succeeded in conditioning me to want popcorn when at the movies and I bought some Friday night just because and in spite of it being really bad a few weeks ago. It was awful again. It was apparently not a one time fluke and I couldn’t even finish mine. Until they start serving it fresh from the popper, save your money and skip the bagged cardboard.

A rainy day at the beach means it’s time for a movie. They had a nice selection of movies to choose from. They have stadium seating which is nice. The seats are roomy and comfortable. One big surprise is that their boxes of candy are only $ 1 a box. That is NOT a typo. The staff is friendly. The only thing I would change is the lobby. It needs a makeover in a big way.
On your next rainy day or date night or even girls night out this is a great place to go.

This theater is dated… It has a faint ‘old’ odor you can smell when you sit down. That aside, it’s a very nice place to catch a movie near Rehoboth Beach. The staff was very friendly and kept the crowd moving. The snack counter could have used some more help, but it wasn’t that bad.
Just remember that the snack bar only takes CASH. That was a bit of a shock but we dealt with it. the theater was clean, the movie good, so if you need something to do on a rainy day… Go see a movie!

Always a good selection of movies, clean facilities and friendly staff… I’d gladly move my rating to 4 stars if they would simply take credit cards at concessions. I just don’t get it — why not? You are missing sales (and I’m not the only patron saying that).

The Movies at Midway is a great theater to go to when you are in the Rehoboth area. You can’t beat one dollar candy and three dollar unlimited soda. Easy to find on the crowded strip of US 1 just north of the 1A/!B split, the parking lot probably fills up fast on busy days. The box office is unfortunately placed directly in front where there is only a small sidewalk, so a line quickly spills into the parking lot. Still, just fine and a nice break from the beach.

Staff was wonderful movies were on time little pricey but all movies are theaters were very clean new digital marquee is great.

Decided to go see a movie on a rainy day. Little did I know I was about to walk into utter chaos. EXTREMELY understaffed, unorganized, and dirty.
There was 5 of us seeing a movie. We bought tickets and received our receipt and went to go enter the theater. They gave us a receipt that says we paid for 5 tickets… but we only received 4. We didn’t notice because they also gave us the receipt for the people who bought tickets before us. We went back to fix the problem and get our other ticket we paid for, and they said they were all sold out. Our 5^th member left the theater to go shop at the outlets while we saw the movie.
The staff had no idea what they were doing. Delaware beaches need better entertainment options for rainy days.

This theater is way better then both theaters in ocean city combined. Its clean. Seats are pretty good. I am a little spoiled by the RPX theater in Salisbury. As a good loud sound system makes a world of difference. I like that you can buy tickets via the machines in the lobby so you dont have to deal with lines outside. I would always recommend bringing a sweatshirt or hoodie as it can get chilly. Its a good crowd who frequent this theater, so its not like loud mean people. All in all great places to see movies. ;-)

Management was very rude. They played the 3D movie in what was supposed to be the 2D version. I walked out and informed the staff the wrong movie was playing. After a 5 min delay, they finally corrected it, and started the movie over in 2D. When I pay $ 8.50 for a matinée movie, all I ask for, is that they play the correct movie, and start it on time. Movies at Midway did neither off these. After the movie was over, I requested a free movie pass, because of the 15 minute inconvenience, which I don’t think is a lot to ask for, but the manager replied, «You still got to see the movie, so No». I work in the customer service industry, and this I felt, was poor customer service.

Ehh this theater is okay — it definitely needs an update. It serves it’s purpose: you can watch a movie here. Nothing special, and the place could use a facelift.

Movies in Rehoboth Beach at Midway. During the Fall and Winter, there are very few movie goers. I went to see Runner Runner and there were 3 others in the audience. Feels like a private screening. Nice Staff. Great prices compared to seeing a movie in DC or NYC and almost all the candy is $ 1.00. Wow! That’s a bargain you can’t buy candy that cheap at the 7 – 11 and sneak it in. It’s a bargain.

Not happy with this place staff was nice and movie selection good but they accept cc for movies but not concessions… so you go to the ATM and have to pay a fee… sorta dumb… no good selection for concession stand either… prices were good there so that is why in all they got a 3 star

This place stays in business only because its the only game in town. Stale popcorn, rude uncaring staff, limited electronics (cash only snack bar) and nonexistent problem solving skills makes for a bargain movie theater experience at premium prices. Regal needs to come to the beach and put this monster to bed.

This place really surprised me.
Pros:
$ 1 candy at the food counter (so no need to hit up the nearby dollar store and smuggle in your treats for fear of overpriced sweets)
Seats are wide, somewhat comfortable and the rows are wide so you have plenty of leg room
Clean bathrooms
Times and movies currently playing are displayed on the outside of the building, so it’s easy to figure out
Cons:
One of the lobby bathrooms was out of order
Definitely a nice place to grab a movie if you’re in the area.
