Jolly Trolley Of Rehoboth Beach

My wife and I were recently married at All Saints Church on Olive St. and had the reception 5 blocks away at The Henlopen Hotel. While transportation wasn’t necessary, we decided to hire the Jolly Trolley to carry the wedding party. It is an icon of the beach town and we thought it would be cool for pictures. Not only was the rate for an hour rental very reasonable, but the owner of the trolley could not have been any sweeter or more accommodating. We would both recommend this service for anyone looking for local wedding transportation of generally getting around the downtown area.

The Jolly Trolley was a something fun for my daughter and I to do during our stay at Rehoboth and Dewey Beach. It did not turn into a horribly unpleasant experience until we encountered a very racist driver on the Jolly Trolly. This drive initiated a loud and offensive conversation about race and politics with another man (white) while 3 families with children were on the trolley, including myself and my daughter (African American). He was offensive and out right disrespectful to the families on the bus with the things that he said. He referred to blacks as «the blacks» over and over and continue to say «the N word, which I am not allowed to say» he made jokes about the N word and continued to say it over and over. My daughter was hurt and I was disgusted. Once I was contact by the owner on Jolly Trolly they both stated that this driver makes the joke about the «N word «often. The made excuses for his behavior.
The Jolly Trolly was anything but Jolly on that day.

Don’t drink and drive and can’t find parking, no worries, take the Jolly Trolley. Convenient transportation to and from Rehoboth and Dewey Beach. Cost three dollars worth every penny.
Runs till 2 AM prime season.

Rode the trolley over to Dewey to eat dinner. Kids loved the ride and it was nice to see some different scenery. Would ride again (but eat somewhere else; that’s a different review entirely).

Oh, the Jolly Trolley. What a magical and majestic name for a van that pulls a wagon fit for cattle behind it.
Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t an uncomfortable ride. You get a nice breeze and get to take in the sights.
The woman who I assume is the owner (she said she’d been working there for a few decades) was super nice. When we were waiting at the wrong stop, she pointed us out to the right one (she was going the opposite direction). When we caught the trolley before hers, we heard her call our driver to make sure we got on alright.
Our other driver was a super nice guy with a mustache. He answered all of our silly questions and told us the history of the Trolley.
Definitely worth doing if you’ve got places to be!

The Jolly Trolly is one of Rehoboth/​Dewey Beaches best and least known treasures. The two beaches are next to each other but are far enough from one another to prohibit walking as a viable commuting option. You could get in your car and drive and deal with that whole procedure or use the Jolly Trolly. At $ 3 each way (or $ 5 for a round trip) it’s certainly not going to break the bank. The come every 30 minutes and are very prompt. The friendly driver asks you which stop along either beach you’d like to be dropped off at and it’s a quick few minute drive to your destination. The trolly runs until 2am making partying at either beach a viable option.
The trolly itself is merely a covered wagon of sorts with old-​school wooden seats that’s pulled by a van, it’s not going to win any style points but there is a nice breeze and a quietness to it that makes the ride quite pleasant, just don’t change your mind on your stop as you won’t see the driver again during your ride.
