Dermatologist was OK in terms of personality, but when I asked any questions/questioned his line of reasoning for his prescription in regards to my acne(The reason of my visit), he would say, «Let’s just move on.» Definitely not aggressive though, and is good for people who are busy and need to see a doctor later in the evening or on weekends. Be warned — no debit cards, health savings card, or any other kinds of cards accepted because the receptionist told me there is no card machine.

Solowey’s office may look like a museum, but everything is clean and well maintained. In my mind, its a reflection of how practices dermatology. He may have been practicing since the 1960’s, but he stays up to date(during my visit, I overheard him talking about a conference he attended earlier in the day) and yet, he will not push any unneccessary or fad treatments. A family member has gone to him for the occasional rash since the 1980s. I make an annual visit because I get a lot of sun exposure, and I also have breakouts. Solowey is not an alarmist, and he did not lecture me about my tanning habits. I am impressed with his ability to remove suspicious lumps without pain or scarring. He has also recognized the emotional component to my acne, and his observation made me reconsider how to handle stress. His receptionist is a bit strict but don’t be turned off by her. She did her best to squeeze me in when I tagged along on a relative’s visit. If you are looking for a derm who is no-nonsense, accurate and experienced, this is your guy. Note: He does not treat adolescents.

I went to this guy to get a plantar wart taken care of. His course of treatment was to continue using salicylic acid patches(aka the Dr. Scholl’s patches I was already using). A total waste of a copay. I’ve since gone to a podiatrist who is actually taking care of my problem. Combine that with the ancient equipment in his office and I would not trust that he’s on the cutting edge of dermatology.
