I’m a lover of Mexican food and was excited to try based on the other Unilocal reviews. Our family ordered a variety of items and nothing was great mostly just standard. Service was really slow which also impacted my rating. Much better options in the area so hard to rate it more than a 2.

This is my go-to favorite Mexican place in Redwood City. They are very authentic and have hands down the best Barbacoa burrito I have ever tasted. The facility doubles as a bakery and small convenience store, so you can get cheap beer with your meal which is always a plus! Reasonably priced and delicious. Don’t come here for the atmosphere, but continue to return here for the awesome food!

Warning: will charge white people tax! Our bill for three small veggie tacos, 1 super burrito and two sodas came out to be $ 19.75. We calculated that the price should have been exactly $ 15 before tax. When I asked why they charged me so much she just looked at me and didn’t know what to say, and refused to give me a receipt. I’m leaving two stars because the food was actually decent. Just beware that they will charge you more if you are white. Never going back here.

I tried two different types of breakfast here and they were great and fresh. Place is casual and enjoyable. Cook is nice older lady and she gets down ! Price is also great for the amount of food they give you. I can not wait to try the lunch.

Homey little authentic Mexican restaurant. It takes forever to get your food, but it’s apparent that this is because they’re making it from scratch. It’s cozy on the inside, without a ton of seating, and the place was packed at noon on a Saturday, but there are a few«bar» seats overlooking the cooks, and two tables outside. We got the 2 taco plate — which was a lot more food and more fresh than we had imagined! We went on a weekend, so they were making their tortillas from scratch(awesome), and the plate came with a healthy serving of traditional refried beans and rice, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions and avocado, salsa and a pile of carne asada which was enough to make three tacos. And they gave us 7 tortillas with the plate(more than enough for 3 double tortilla tacos)! At $ 10.50, it was a filling and scrumptious meal. The carne asada taco a la carte was equally good, albeit not as fancy. Just fresh tortilla, carne asada meat, onions, cilantro and salsa. The salsa was spicy but not burn-your-mouth-off spicy like another taqueria I tried recently. I preferred this. The horchata was very sweet, spiced and traditional. A nice addition to the meal. I also managed to pick up some Mexican oregano and hominy for a pozole dish I was planning to make at home. They have a small selection of Mexican food items in their«store» section. Friendly service too.

Tacos were super solid! Nothing amazing but for 1.50 you really can’t go wrong. I had the chicken and barbacoa. Both were tasty. They sell huge cups of cut mango or pineapple. The person in front of me got the last one — and it looked SOOO good. I love mango so I will have to come back for that.

Not too many seats inside to sit individually or with a group. The good is great! Really good quality. They wrap there burritos very well. It’s pretty hot inside. No coolers. The service was simple and friendly.

If I could give this place a 0 I would. No joke I paid 4 dollars for a 16 oz and a 20 oz sodas. A coke and a sprite. Unbelievable!!! What is wrong with these people! What an embarrassment to Latin American businesses!

i wouldn’t it’s one the best places to get a burrito, but if you are around the area I definitely recommend it if you are in a tight budget. Very affordable burritos and tacos with a free bag of chips, but the taste value is all the same. Sure it will fill you up, yet it depends if you quality over quantity. The service is super fast and the service is great, if you don’t feel like waiting call in advance; that’s what I do every time and when I arrive my burrito or tacos are just about ready.

Best menudo, caldo de res, birria, and barbacoa in town! Taste just like back in Michoacan! You cant get places like these no more! Place is small but its good! The same people working here for over 15 years that means recipes haven’t changed!

Fresh, delicious and authentic Mexican food at a very fair price. If this burrito was in downtown Palo Alto there would be a line out the door for blocks(and the burrito would cost $ 15).

I designed a run from my apartment to end at this taqueria today, and here’s what I thought about this Redwood City taqueria: — They serve homemade tortillas on weekends! These tortillas are different from the homemade ones at Taqueria Los Gemelos(also in Redwood City) in that they are thicker and heartier in flavor, so the 2 tacos I got ended up filling me up nicely — It’s also a small convenience store, so you can get snacks and drinks too — Parking is just on the streets, or you can run there like me :) — Quality of tacos is very high! I got steak and barbacoa and both were great. — The menu is kinda hard to read since there’s so much crammed on the board, so good luck making sense of it. However, I’d eat anything on there, except menudo. Unless I was super super hungover… I’ll be coming back and getting friends to come out on weekends. The lady who made the tacos told me(en espanol) that the homemade tortillas are pretty similar to tamale filling. She said they didn’t have lard in them as I thought because of how freaking amazing they were. But she wouldn’t tell me anything else!

This joint does not mess around. Going Northbound on El Camino a few blocks away from K&L Wine Merchants you find a rundown red building that stands alone but do not be weary for they have amazing homecooked Mexican food. The storefront is a combination of a liquor/convenient store, over the counter drugstore, bakery, and taqueria. They have horchata, fresh squeezed carrot juice, and orange juice. If you are there during the day you are likely to see the owner’s kids eating tacos at the counter where you can watch his wife prepare fresh yellow corn masa tortillas for the tacos. I ordered the chile relleno plate(It’s HUGE they give you 2 chile rellenos) and my friend(who has been a regular for 7 years) ordered the barbacoa and the steak tacos. EVERYTHINGWASPHENOMENAL. IT really could not have gotten any better. The salsa bar is probably my favorite part though– my favorite sauce was the pico de gallo with diced chunks of nopalitos. AMAZING!!! Can’t wait to go back for the tacos. The tacos are not overpriced like other places that aren’t as fresh and authentic. LEGITHOLEINTHEWALLTAQUERIA!

A great, authentic taqueria situated in the front of a small Mexican grocery store. The wife and I ended up here about 1 pm on a Saturday after running errands. The decent-sized parking lot in back made life easier, so no need to park on busy El Camino. You can tell they don’t get many gringos here, since a few patrons did a double-take when they saw us walk in the door. I ordered the taco plate withe rice and beans. The wife ordered the regular chicken burrito. Prices were mixed, $ 8 for the taco plate(high), $ 5 for the burrito(low). Food was mostly outstanding. Carnitas was tender, very chunky and flavorful, though I prefer a bit of crispiness. Barbacoa was just OK — kinda fatty and runny. Beans and rice were stellar. But best of all, the corn tortillas were hand made on their grill. Don’t see that too often! I asked the wife how her burrito was, and I looked over to see that her plate was scoured clean. «Excellent», she said, slightly embarrassed. The only thing missing here is homemade chips and salsa. Others have mentioned the salsa bar, but I missed it. Worth further research.
