Jemstone completed the first phase of a remodel. We could not be more pleased. Jade was easy to work with, knowledgeable, prompt, and reasonably priced. His crew was considerate and fast. I would highly recommend Jemstone to family and friends.

Jemstone did a fantastic job on our major home remodel in San Carlos. We had a huge job with lots of moving parts (architect, structural engineering, permits galore, etc) and it was managed very well by Jade and the results were awesome.
I would trust Jade and all of his employees 100% with any job and would recommend Jemstone to anyone. High quality work with above and beyond effort from everyone on the team.

Jemstone Construction just finished our kitchen remodel and I couldn’t be more pleased with both the finished product and the experience working with Jade and his crew. I would recommend Jade to any friends or family looking to do a remodel, and I will definitely hire him again if we do any more major work on our house. He was professional, knowledgeable, clean, on-​time and on budget. I never worried about things being done correctly, which I quickly learned is an invaluable quality in a contractor (I had another experience with a different crew doing outside work that needed constant supervision to get things right and it was a total headache… but with Jade I felt like he had it all under control and it was such a pleasant experience!)
Jade also has good aesthetic taste and gives great advice when asked without being pushy. His advice on back splash and colors was spot on and the finishing touches are beautiful. He always consulted with me when there was a decision point, which I appreciated (I am pretty picky), and he worked with me to find different options that would allow us to stay within our budget. His own prices were also reasonable and I felt like he always worked with me to be fair.
Jade and his crew also installed a french door and new window, a skylight and some other items around the house. Everything he did was top quality and he never settled until things were perfect (Jade just spent three hours back at my house adjusting a door to make sure it was exactly to my liking!).
I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Jemstone Construction!

My fiancée and I employed Jade and his team to renovate our Eichler in San Mateo in a modern/​contemporary style. The bulk of the project included the complete renovation of two bathrooms and a kitchen. Additional work included custom bamboo cabinets, interior and exterior painting, fence staining, new garage doors, addition of a laundry area, electrical upgrade from 100 Amps to 200 Amps along with the addition of an electrical sub-​panel, installation of new closet doors, and new double paned windows.
We could not be more satisfied and pleased with the work Jemstone Construction performed on our home. The Jemstone Construction team were completely thorough, neat, and professional; the quality of workmanship is top tier. Jade was extremely prompt in his response time, and his bid prices are completely reasonable and competitive.
Eichler homes are tough to work with due to their lack of attic and crawl space; however, Jemstone did an amazing job adapting to the limitations of the house and were able to provide us with exactly what we wanted. In addition, Jade provided valuable design ideas that helped us bring our vision to life.
With all of the contractors out there, its tough to pick who to choose for your renovation; remodeling your home is a big deal and you should be happy with who you decide to employ.
We will definitely use Jemstone Construction in the future and have continued to recommend them to friends, family, and colleagues alike. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose Jemstone Construction to work on the house I worked so hard to get.

We had a major renovation of our house. Went well until his right-​hand man left and Jade was left solo, midway through. Problems began there.
I wont laundry list all the problems. But you wont get any follow-​up from him after the job, despite trying to contact him. So much for a warranty or pride in your work.
The stucco on our house is cracked everywhere and bubbling at the corners as it was painted before drying properly. The bracket for the bath was not plumbed and therefore our bath floods everytime someone showers. Grouting is cracked, things werent calked, drywall on the ceiling is cracked. Just ridiculous considering the scope and cost.
I would recommend using Jade for jobs very small and quick. But anything that requires attention to detail, or oversight of subs, and i would be very wary. Our foundation was initially poured two feet short !
I really wished I could give a better review considering working with him for 6 months. But the number of outstanding issues and the lack of follow-​up compels me to provide this review.
If the situation changes, i will add a further post.

Jade Civitello and the guys at Jemstone did a great job remodeling our house.
We are first time home buyers and we had our kitchen and all the bathrooms redone, hardwood floors and a whole bunch of other smaller items.
The guys were professional, on time and on budget.
Jade was prompt and accurate with quoting and great with professional advice on a lot of items that we would have questions on. this being our first major remodel.
I highly recommend Jade and Jemstone to everyone.

I would add a photo but I won’t be crawling under our house anytime soon. I found Jade here on Unilocal and he did a great job. Whoever installed our windows decided to cover up the weepers (they are little drains on the window sill that allow the water to run out of the window framing an not back into the house) and left us with a water problem. He fixed the damage and also installed some new electrical and even fixed a squeak in our hardwood floor. We are now ship shape. Jade was easy to work with and gets back to you via email which is nice, and he cleaned up any mess that was lying around. Would use Jade again, maybe for some pretty tile work next time!

Jemstone did a full remodel of our master bathroom and another half bathroom. We are amazed and very happy with the transformation! Jade is personable and easy to work with. He and his crew were always professional, showed up when they said they would, left the area clean every day, and did a fantastic job.
He communicated with us promptly about every small decision that needed to be made, and offered helpful suggestions without pressuring us. He answered our questions and concerns honestly. He pays a lot of attention to detail… for example, he took a long time adjusting the shelving of our vanities and cutting around the plumbing to make things just right and didn’t charge us for the extra time he spent doing it.
This was our first time using a contractor, and we had heard a lot of stories from friends about their terrible experiences. But our project was painless… not a small feat in the world of remodeling.

We had Jade from Jemstone Construction remodel our bathroom in our condo in Mountain View and he did an amazing job. His attention to detail and professionalism were second to none. He left the jobsite very clean at the end of each day as well which is a rare thing to find.
Overall we were very pleased with the work that was done and would be happy to provide a reference.

My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon and discovered that there was a toilet leak in our townhouse between the 1^st and 2^nd floor. Totally worn out from our wedding, we knew we had to get the toilet fixed immediately before any mold or further water damage occurred. We called up Jemstone Construction, and Jade Civitello (the owner) came out right away and assessed the damage.
We knew that the toilet upstairs had to be torn out and the floor redone, so we also asked for a quote for a complete remodel of the bathroom, but told him that we needed it soon so we could decide on whether to hire him to prevent further damage. He was very responsive and provided us with a quote the next day and was back out 2 days later to tear out the flooring and remove the water damage.
He also remodeled the bathroom for us and his work was exceptional. He was very detail oriented and even went so far as to ensure that the tiles next to each other matched rather than laying them out in whatever order the tiles were packaged. Jade was available any given time of the day to discuss the work, although I did find it amusing that the best way to reach him was through text messaging. He runs a small operation with a few other employees, and Jade was in the bathroom doing a lot of the work himself, not just hiring folks from Home Depot to do the work for him.
Overall, I am impressed and will definitely consider him again for any future work. Compared to past remodeling jobs I’ve had done on my kitchen, Jade is a very clean worker and does his best to not let his work interfere with your daily activities.

Jemstone is a real find. I have heard the worst horror stories from folks using contractors who do substandard work, but Jade Civitello (who owns Jemstone and who personally manages each engagement) is a true professional with very high standards. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

Jade (owner/​operator) just redid my kitchen, 2 baths, deck, sauna, hardwood floors, crown molding and skylight. We started with just the kitchen, but when I saw what a pro he was and how talented he is, I ended up redoing pretty much my whole house, which I absolutely love, and all within budget (Jade apparently has an extensive business background)! Jade and his team are professional, trustworthy, pleasant and exceptionally clean. I never came home to a mess. Two thumbs up. After using Jemstone I would never go with anyone else.
