The customer service here really varies. My son and I have been helped by some very patient, knowledgeable guys however, the older woman who works here is unbelievably RUDE! On more than one occasion I have been forced to ask her for help, and we have ended up leaving the store wondering how she continues to work at Goetz Bros. Most recently we were driving by and my son asked if we could stop to get new baseball cleats. I was skeptical since it was such a hot day and we had our dog with us. I told my son we would just check with the employees and see if they minded if our dog joined us for the shopping trip. Now we’re not the family that takes our dog with us everywhere, and I try to be VERY sensitive to the fact that some people have allergies, or just don’t like dogs. As we approached the front door my son pointed out that there wasn’t a sign that said «no pets». So, we entered the store and asked one of the first guys we saw if it would be okay if our 20 lb. dog came in with us since it was such a hot day and we didn’t want to leave him in the car. He was very nice and said he understood, and that it wasn’t a problem at all. My son started checking out the cleats with a very helpful guy assisting him. I was just hanging out waiting for my son to make a decision, the older woman approached me. She asked about the dog. I said we had checked with the first employee we saw and he said it was fine. She seemed annoyed so I told her this was a one time event. She said, «When it’s this hot out, I leave my dog at home.» I said, Well, we weren’t planning on stopping.” She said, «Since you have your dog you shouldn’t have». I could not believe she said that to me!!! It’s not like this is a new, super clean store! I will only go to Goetz Bros in the future as a last resort. I will NEVER let this rude woman help me again!

If you need sports equipment, you can’t do better than Goetz Bros. They have EVERYTHING you could possibly need and if they don’t have it, trust me, you won’t find it anywhere else except online.
Brent and his staff are knowledgeable, friendly and there to help. No retail store has perfect employees who never make a mistake, but these guys nail it 99 times out of 100. If you or your kids play sports and need equipment, just go to Goetz Bros. The only thing I can be critical of is that it’s not open on Sundays. That said, Brent needs a day off too!

I never knew about this place if I didn’t search Unilocal for sport equipment thanks again Unilocal… walked in to see a good selection of sports equipment looking for a baseball bat they had a good selection to choose from may not be your regular big named sporting good stores but they sure have bats and gloves along with other equipment you won’t find in those other stores. Staff is great they will help you find what your looking for. Nice selection of giants jerseys. Nice to know I can always go in for some new gear. Pricing is pretty good make sure to look for yellow sale tags you may find last year’s models for a great deal.

I’ve been going here since I was a kid and they never disappoint. Now I go there for all my girls sporting equip needs. They have just about anything you would need for sporting equipment. If they don’t have it, they can get it!
Went in today in a bind as my daughter was leaving in the morning for a softball tournament in Colorado. Needed a number put on her Jersey and they took care of it in about 5 min! Gotta love Goetz Bros.

I hesitated to write this review because I hear this place is like a local institution. I have been here on and off over the years, but usually go to California Sports in Belmont which is closer. I will say that Goetz Brothers definitely had a wider selection of softball-​related stuff.
I went in this Monday morning at about 10 a.m. (an hour after opening) at the recommendation of my daughter’s pitching coach. The toe section of my daughter’s drag cleat was beginning to wear out even though her cleats are only about a month old. Our coach told me Goetz Brothers could «dip the shoe» which she explained meant installing some kind of pad to protect that section of the show to avoid me having to buy new cleats.
I walk in the store and I am the only customer there. I suppose its the luck of the draw who you get paired with, but I went up to the counter to an employee that seemed to be doing something else. He asked me if I needed help and I told him our coach said I could get my daughter’s pitching shoe dipped there. He had no idea what I was talking about so I explained that I needed to have a pad installed at the toe section of her drag foot. He responded that they did not install anything there, but sold the pad. I asked to see it and he walked me over to the pad and handed it to me. I had a lot of questions since this was a new concept to me, but the employee seemed like he had a ton of more important things to get to. I asked how to install the pad and he essentially said read the instructions.
I declined buying the pad since this is not what I thought our coach meant. I then told the employee that I might as well buy new cleats since the pad was a little pricey. He did not offer to show me where the cleats were so I asked. He pointed a finger to the back of the store and I began walking there without him following. After I realized I was looking at soccer cleats, I had to go back and ask him if softball cleats were the ones under the baseball sign to which he said yes and again kept his distance.
Another low point of the encounter was regarding a new mitt I was thinking of purchasing. I told the man that since my daughter’s pitches were starting to hurt my hand using my old mitt, I was thinking of purchasing a new one. I initially got no response. I was actually expecting something like «that’s a good idea, let me show you couple…» Instead, after a couple of seconds, I had to follow up with a «what do you think as far as an all purpose mitt?» He responded by saying «well you could get a good mitt for about $ 150. I wasn’t asking about price. I was asking for his expertise and hoping/​expecting, he would point out a couple of mitts for me to try.
In the end, I am going to stick with a proven commodity and go back to California Sports for my softball needs. They are a little overpriced, but the service there is a night a day situation from what I encountered at Goetz Brothers. If all else fails, then there is always Sports Authority.

Very friendly staff and very complete selection. All my kids have grown up with this store. I took off one star because of the chaos of the store but seems like that is part of the character!

I love softball and baseball. You can get like anything you need there for sports. They have soft balls, base balls, clothes and more. i love going there

They have a pretty impressive selection of inventory to choose from and at their prices aren’t bad. You can probably find better deals at a place like Sports Authority but the equipment at Goetz is far superior.

I have been dealing with Goetz Brother for about 12 years. I do not have any complaints about them yet. Great quality uniforms and fair prices. I usually deal with Brent or his parents. Brent has saved me plenty of times getting uniforms out in record times.

Thank you again Goetz for supporting Redwood City Little League and the players of RWC. Your store is a great resource for all sports equipment.

Have bought gloves and bats from them over the years. Very convient. The staff was friendly and nice and always willing to help. I also had some team uniforms done there many years ago, and they came out really nice.

if baseball is your sport here is the place to come by, majority of the stuff I saw was for baseball, they do have football jerseys, hats, coats, softball bats, baseball gloves, weight training equipment, face mask, lacrosse equip, etc lets just say they got alot of equipment
folks there are friendly and helpful even if you dont end up buying anything, in some spots it is a little tight to get through if you have a stroller, I did see a few 49er toddler jerseys on there wall I saw Willis and i think Crabtree, if you want to get your kid fitted this would be the place

This store has been a RWC institution for decades. Many, many years ago, they used to rent school musical instruments, but that was discontinued. I love that it is family owned and operated. They support local youth sports teams. This is our go-​to store for our son’s little league gear and our daughter’s softball gear. Sure, I can go to Big-​5 or Sports Authority and get some items for less, but really not much less, and the service and information you receive when shopping at Goetz is well worth it. For example, at the end of the baseball season, my son wanted a new bat for camp over the summer and for fall ball and beyond. I was okay with this, so we set out for Goetz hoping to find his new ComBat 3, which is what he coveted. We ended up having not one, but two people personally working with us to find the right length/​weight ratio for my son. They actually took him outside with a few bats and had him swing for them, so they could study his swing and give us a recommendation. We happened to have his old bat in the car, so we pulled that one out so they could see him swing with that one as well. They didn’t have the right size/​weight in stock, but said they could order it. Of course, my son wanted instant gratifcation, and was willing to go with a bat that was just a little off, but they were so good with him, and really explained to him why it would be better to wait for the right one. (I might have ended up letting him convince me if it weren’t for them.) I was very impressed with the time they took with us, and the personal service. You absolutely won’t get that anywhere else! Kudos Goetz Bros.
(Now, if they would start selling hockey equipment, I’d give them 6 stars!)

Goetz Bros. is practically a Redwood City landmark, but I’ve only been twice in the last ten years. Now that both daughters are playing in multiple youth sports leagues, however, it looks like I’ll be paying them a visit more often.
This is a mom-​n-​pop store (yay!), and the staff here is stellar. I’ve had excellent customer service here both times. (On my first visit last year, they let me in for one quick purchase, even though it was 5 minutes after closing time, and they were closing the doors).
On our recent trip we bought a batting helmet, bag and bat for softball, basketball shoes, and shin guards + socks for soccer. I picked up swim goggles for me. The employee who helped us was a pleasure to work with.
While wandering around the store and taking blurry photos on my phone, I was amazed at the variety of sports they supply for: basketball, football, soccer (indoor and outdoor), baseball, softball, volleyball, swimming, even lacrosse and rugby. In addition to supplying team uniforms they also have a decent supply of general sports clothing for adults and youth.
Until recently, the most unique (and humorous) aspect of Goetz Bros for me were their outdoor signs, which were so old and weathered that they looked like props for a post-​apocalyptic movie. They always made the store look abandoned (and I half-​expected Mad Max to saunter out with a new pair of shoulder pads). I was planning to take some photos of these old signs for this review, but Murphy ruled the day. Wouldn’t you know it… They repainted them! Now I just need to wait about 20 years to get the photos I wanted.

This is a great store. It is crowded with stuff, like walking into someone’s attic. But, it’s worth it. Goetz has a much, much better selection of baseball stuff than any other store in the Bay Area, as far as I can tell. The glove and bat selection make the big box sports stores look like a joke. However, there don’t ever seem to be any discounts… so, you may pay a bit more. However, you will also find that glove, bat, or whatever else you need that you will not find at the big box stores.
My one ding is the parking. It is really tough sometimes, and you have to be very aware of the meters! Last time I was there, I parked out front at about 5:50 pm on a Saturday afternoon. Was only there for 10 minutes. Came out of the store and had a ticket on the window. Yes, that quick.

Messy… this place is such a mess. It’s hard to find anything and when you do find something, chances are pretty good that they don’t have your size. I understand they cater to team sales, however, I can’t say that I have a team or am even on a team, so I guess they don’t cater to me.
That’s cool.
I’ll still try to buy things here, because it is a locally owned business, but I’ll probably end up going back to my internet sites for sporting good-​esque stuff.

We use Goetz for all our screen-​printing needs for my office, and not only are they great to work with (Brent is very friendly and professional), they’re also the cheapest place around to get anything done. They’re also fine with you ordering your own tees to bring in, which also saves a bunch because I can bulk order American Apparel tees for way cheaper than retail.
If you come here for screen-​printing though, you better have the original art files; Brent can’t work with PDF or JPG (I usually save for Illustrator 9 for him). It would be nice if they’d upgrade their system, but at their prices (nearly half another in town), I can’t complain much.

I love going and window-​shopping at sporting goods store, because I feel like a kid once again.
Unfortunately, there are not too many left in the bay area with Sport’s Authority, Big-​5 and other smaller sporting good stores still remains. With the idea invention of the internet, athlete’s or sport’s aficionado, depending on the level, order their necessary gear from websites at the convenience at home in there bed. And with the internet and other technology, .i.e. Playstation, X-​Box, to name a few, the decline in sporting programs in selective high schools has slipped in recent years. You can easily tell why the Bay Area hasn’t produce many true superstars, because high-​school kids devote their after school activities at the mall, playing video games or doing unlawful actions with friends or foes.
It’s a good thing that this longtime family owned sporting good store is currently still going strong to this current date. It also helps to have a high school nearby at the corner of El Camino Real and Broadway (don’t know the name). Kids, who are dedicated in their respective sports, can basically walk down the Broadway St. and get what they need and perform their beloved sports at their very best.
Despite the store being a little disorganized with boxes or freight of all sizes, and depending on the season the sport (s), this store has every thing you need to perform at your very best. Majority of the shoppers/​athletes are from high-​school or nearby junior colleges. The family staffs are very knowledgeable and knows what’s best suited for their needs.
In addition to browsing what interest me, I saw this necklace worn by many Major Leaguers and selective athletes: Phiten. The $ 30.00 Titanium necklace is the technological product to help ease discomfort, reduce stress and injuries, and helps promote relaxation. It comes in 3 different colors: Red, Blue and Black (which I got on my neck). The necklace may or may not work some athletes, who some are a true believer of the product. The product and a Holy Cross symbol also come in handy in my line of dangerous work.
With the lack of developing athletes from the Bay Area, I hope this sporting good store continues to stay in business and helps promote more kids to participate in sport (s) instead of hanging out at Peet’s and drinking Coffee Frappé drinks and/​or eating Beard Papa on Middlefield Road. Leave the eating of Cream puff Pastries to me.
5-​star for family-​owned businesses!

I came in here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was amazed that I never knew it existed before. It is a family business (yes, they are all brothers) and everyone who works here is nice, helpful and accommodating.
Come here for anything related to team sports. It is not a store for standard exercise equipment (weights, yoga mats etc).
I came here for iron on letters (like the ones on jerseys) to put on my friends Jen-​pardy game I made her for her birthday (think Jeopardy about her life). They worked like a dream and were cheaper than other options at places like Michael’s.
