History

Established in 1920.

For nearly 90 years, Community Gatepath (Gatepath) has been «Turning Disabilities Into Possibilities.» We foster hope, dignity and independence among children and adults with disabilities and dedicate ourselves to building inclusive environments where individuals of all abilities can thrive. Gatepath is the largest nonprofit organization in San Mateo County serving people with disabilities, reaching over 8,000 individuals annually. Our comprehensive array of services spans a lifetime, starting with early intervention services for infants and toddlers, inclusive preschool and family support services, and encompassing employment training, community job placement and wellness services for adults and seniors.

Sheryl Y.

Manager

As Chief Executive Officer of Community Gatepath Sheryl Young oversees one of the largest and oldest nonprofit organizations in San Mateo County. Gatepath annually serves 8,000 children, adults, seniors, their families, and the professionals that support them, through direct programs, support services, education, and information. She manages a staff of 150 employees and an annual budget of $ 11 million dollars, which have supported the agency’s dedication to «Turning Disabilities Into Possibilities» for 89 years. Young has over 25 years of managerial experience in operations, finance, and marketing. She is known for her ability to build innovative and sustainable non-​profit programs, and is a leader in the field of managing boards of directors, social entrepreneurship, and melding for-​profit and non-​profit management styles to fuel nonprofit organization effectiveness.
