This place is old school, but that is not a bad thing. Dr. Magee really knows what she is doing. This is not a 5 minute visit, she takes time to warm up the back before adjusting and uses electricity and some massage at the end so you get a full work over. This was her father’s office before and now she practices here. Make an appointment you will feel better… I always do.

Dr. Magee is the best. I agree 100% with every other review. We’ve been going to her (and her dad before her) for close to 40 years and in my wife’s case over 40 years.

Denise Magee is the best! I am certain because of Dr. Magee I have avoided hip and knee surgery… she puts everything back where it should be… and she’s a lovely and caring person… you should be so lucky to go to her… I miss the fairy dust but I understand. she’s magic without it!

Dr Denise, like her father and grandfather is the best! Usually one session pops you right back in place and you’re good to go!

People, I have a GREAT recommendation for a chiropractor.
About a year ago I was talking to my friend/​co-​worker who had seen Dr. Magee for something like 15 years (she used to go to Denise MaGee’s Dad when he was in practice, too). I was looking for a chiropractor when my lower back was bugging me and my friend gave GLOWING reviews for Dr. Magee. There was another chiropractor whom a lot of our other co-​workers in the office were a fan of, but she told me she didn’t really see what the big deal was. She thought he was «okay,» but she told me he kind of rushes things, whereas on the other hand, Dr. Magee really takes her time and does a really THOROUGH job (eg. she warms your back up before she gives your adjustments). I noticed Linda P. said the same thing about being thorough.
She gave me her number and I saw her that week. WOW. I knew I didn’t have the best lower back but I had no idea how good she was going to be able to make my whole body feel. I actually felt like I could BREATHE better after I saw her. Literally, I felt «high» all day. I know it must sound nuts that I was 41 when i had my first appt (for some reason I always kinda thought chiropractors were quacks I guess). But I was wrong and am SO GLAD I WENT.
Dr. Magee has really strong hands and when she works on my back and neck I feel excited and scared at the same time. It’s still kind of scary for me to have my neck and back cracked, but I’m excited to know how good I’m gonna feel when she’s done. Omg I heard SO MUCH CRUNCHING when she cracked me from the side. But I felt awesome when she was done!
I want to tell people that if you are looking for some fancy new chiropractic office, that is not the setup here but it doesn’t bother me one bit. The décor is kind of old fashioned — I feel kinda like I’m back in the 60’s, but I actually love that. I think it’s kind of cool that the office is actually more like a house, that was converted into an office. The equipment looks like it’s had a lot of use over the years, but still looks great. I am just saying that because I don’t want people to be surprised and have any reason to grumble about something later. I get the impression Dr. Magee has a ton of loyal clients who are perfectly happy with the décor and the last thing I want to do is encourage some whiny people to go in and start bitchin about the furniture because it’s not what they envisioned.
Anyway, again — I highly recommend Dr. Magee. She really takes her time and I feel confident in saying you will feel comfortable with her. If you’re lookin for a great chirporactor, give her a call! The location is easy to get to (right on Whipple Ave, on the corner — the office looks like a house) and there’s parking in the back too!

Dr. Magee is a San Mateo County native and 3^rd generation chiropractor, following her Grandfather and Father. She’s been taking care of my back for over 10 years (her Father treated my Dad and my grandfather). Whenever I leave the office, I feel at least an inch taller! (I’m only 5 feet tall, so that inch makes a big difference)
She’s not like the chiropractors who require a bunch of X-​Rays and and a series of appointments; you schedule your appointment (which lasts about an hour) based on how your back feels. At each appointment Dr. Magee will ask about any issues with your back, neck, shoulders, and where the sore/​problem spots are. You’ll get heat, adjustment, and stimulation, and walk out taller and relaxed.
This is not a day-​spa; it’s a working chiropractic office, so don’t expect a locker room, soft chairs, and piped-​in music. Parking is easy (and free) in her lot behind the office or on Allerton St.
