Chef Chirp

Ok, I feel really bad writing this review because we’ve just moved here from New York and a friend from NY found Chef Chirp online and surprised me for my birthday. Full marks to her, but unfortunately, zero to Chef Chirp.
I don’t understand how she has so many good reviews. Either it was a bad day for her, or she doesn’t know how to make macarons! Macarons are hard to get right, which is why the only people selling them should be ones who can make them properly.
Chef Chirp failed on all three macaron fundamentals: texture, consistency, and flavor. Instead of being light on the outside and chewy on the inside, her macarons were crisp on the outside, with the exterior falling into a hollowness on the inside. And none of the buttercream fillings were identifiable.
Macarons demand surgical precision in the mixing and sifting of ground almonds and superfine sugar and the beating (not too much) of egg whites. Some chefs leave the eggs to age for a few days, bang the cookie sheet on the counter to eliminate bubbles etc.
Perhaps it is the time we’ve spent in NY and Paris, or perhaps it’s something else. But our entirely family was left rather disappointed.
The packaging was also awful. It looked pretty on the outside, but lacked functionality on the inside. The macarons were in a box too big for them, just wrapped loosely in paper. She needs compartmentalized/​smaller-​to-​fit/​macaron-​friendly boxes.
P. S.: saw the word «macaroons» in some of the reviews. Perhaps just a typo, but to be clear: those are shredded-​coconut cookies, not the same thing.

These are truly professionally delicious macarons, thank you Chef Chirp! You put together such an amazing macaron tower for our baby shower, everyone liked it a lot! I ordered 3 flavors — lemon, black sesame, and pistachio, and each of them tasted fresh and true to their flavor. Highly recommended

These macarons were so delicous! So many flavors to pick from and all great. They are so light and fluffy and are better than some that you may get at a famous French pastry shop.
The fact that you can get them hand delivered is just a bonus. Wendy is very easy to deal with and responsive to emails. I’m looking forward to having another occasion to buy some more.

Wow. These macarons are simply amazing. I received a dozen from a friend… okay special someone… okay… girlfriend… and she told me I’d love the surprise she had for me.
Each macaron is a little bit of joy — creamy, crisp texture, and chewy. Careful though they’re super delicate! I crumbled one just by grabbing it.
A little pricey from what I hear, but service goes above and beyond. Apparently they’re handmade and made up of so many flavors!
It’s love at first bite.

These macarons are as good as anywhere you’d find in San Francisco and at a much better price!
Wendy has an obvious passion for her quality product.
I can’t wait to use her services again for my next event!

These were among the best macarons that I’ve had. Purchased for my husband’s birthday (we shared) and he loved them. Tried the Orange creamsicle but next time will try something new as I know she has more delicious options to discover.

I never would’ve thought macarons could taste like this! They aren’t outrageously sweet like some other ones I’ve eaten, and their textures were crisp, chewey, and creamy all at the same time. You have to try these and find out yourself!

It is funny, I always thought I didn’t like macaroons. That was until I received an assortment from Chef Chirp.
A friend of mine from out of state found Chef Chirp on Unilocal and ordered some for my office. Not only were the macaroons awesome, delicious, and disappeared immediately upon arrival… but I Chef Chirp personally delivered them to my office.
My out of state friend was delighted at how helpful, kind, and generally amazing Chef Chirp was at accommodating this order. All I know, is I got an amazing gift, which made me realize macaroons could be tasty too.

Chef Chirp is everything I’d hoped it would be. I wanted to send a little happiness to someone in the area and discovered Wendy’s magnificent reviews, found her list of flavors and adorable photos, and saw there was a convenient order form on her site! I already knew this was a win and she only confirmed it when she wrote back the same day, went over my options, and confirmed a delivery time. I anticipated the next day up until delivery when these precious macaroons made it to their recipient, who reported lovely colors, flavor, and all. We have a macaroon convert because of this magic. I was thrilled to get the delivery confirmation, and got a photo of the beautifully presented box from my target. truly beautiful presentation online and off. I will have to make a visit to the area at some point just to try these gorgeous things myself. (I really want the green tea haha)
This is what you should be getting if your goal is to send delicious happiness in a pretty box.

I ordered macarons for the dessert table at my wedding. It was beautiful and yummy! I met up with family the morning after the wedding and everyone said they loved it. Wendy was super nice and very easy to work with. She saved me a box of macarons on my wedding day knowing I would not have a chance to have any from the dessert table. Unfortunately they were so good that my friends found the box in my bridal suite and ate it all before I got to it! =) Definitely will be ordering more in the future!

Do you know what happiness tastes like? It probably tastes like a macaron. For me, it tastes like a Chef Chirp macaron. Fluffy, subtly-​crisp-​yet-​chewy-​yet-​creamy, with delicious, unreal flavors and colors, these little two-​inch patisseries are a satisfying confection par excellence.
Part of this is Chef Chirp’s skill in baking, which is substantial. Her exacting standards, combined with her high-​quality ingredients, elevate her macarons to art. Art I can put in my mouth. The other part is Chef Chirp’s creativity and willingness to work on special projects.
I got in touch with Chef Chirp to request a special macaron: I wanted her to make flying saucer macarons for a surprise Halloween/​anniversary present. She was so enthusiastic, and asked a lot of questions. We worked together to come up with a color and flavor palette, and then she took my vague sketches and turned them into gorgeous, glitter-​studded UFOs. They are unbelievably delicious, and so beautiful! Chef Chirp worked her keyster off on them, even making an extra iteration to meet her own expectations.
She way exceeded mine. Chef came to our house to deliver the surprise macarons to my beloved, who was beyond delighted (and surprised, since we managed to keep the secret). Luckily, I’ve got a wonderful beloved, who has shared the individually-​packed sweet spaceships with me all weekend. They’re just so good. Happiness is a well-​kept secret, but Chef Chirp’s macarons need to be shouted about from every rooftop. And then consumed with gusto.

Fellow macaroon-​lovers, let me tell you that your dreams of large, lush, extravagant and perfect macaroons is over. You’ve found the fount of macaroon fantasies! I buy macaroons wherever I find them, and Chef Chirps are the absolute best. Not only are they large and generously sized, but the flavor and texture are #1. I won’t name some of the local competitors, but I’ve had almost all, and Chef Chirp’s are the best by a measurable degree. On tasting, you will IMMEDIATELY be able to tell they are better than the others. I PROMISE.
They have a wide variety of flavors, and they were willing to do flavor special-​requests. If you are ordering for special occasions, the packaging and wrapping decorations are so cute you just know that someone there has gotta be a scrapbooking or crafting maniac. Which is a good thing when you get the benefits of their talents! I’ve eaten from baby shower and holiday and bridal shower packages and each one of them was charming and imaginative.
Follow the freshness recommendations, they never last long enough in our house but I’m sure she makes them for a reason! This review is only of the actual macaroons and packaging, as I haven’t (yet) used the online ordering service.

We ordered the Chef’s Surprise to try it out and we love everything!
I ordered online and it felt like minutes later, I received my email confirmation, telling me all the flavors I’ll be receiving, in case there’s any I don’t like and Chef Chirp can switch it out. I asked for the osmanthus, Chef Chirp didn’t have any on hand, but she kindly provided two additional macarons in Jasmine (also a tea flavor) and Mango. (so it’s like getting 14 macarons for the price of 12!)
Chef Chirp also offered an earlier delivery date than the one I requested and she met me at a grocery store 5 minutes from my house. She was super accommodating and made pick up very easy.
And lastly the macarons, oh so yummy! There were better than the ones at the specialty store in PA. Each one was distinctly flavored, chewy and moist. I love the range of flavors in the Chef’s Surprise!
I feel like I discovered hidden secret in my neighborhood!

If you are looking for superior macarons, you’ve come to the right place. Flavors are subtle and the texture is exceptional.
There’s no longer a need to visit Bouchon in Napa or Los Angeles because Chef Chirp’s are more nuanced and more delicate.

Wendy was very prompt in responding to my order inquires. I orders the chef’s choice and she told me in the email which flavors were included right away. She also asked if there were any other flavors I would like to have in the chef’s choice. We met up at the redwood city target, Wendy was not only on time but early! She was exactly where she said she would be and the transaction went smoothly. When we opened the box, the macarons were smaller compared to the ones i usually buy and she also gave us two mini macarons as a gift with her business card. The macarons were very flavorful but I think the mango was a bit artificial.
Wendy was very considerate by providing us a bag of ice to go with our macarons because she didn’t know what was on our agenda for the rest of the day and the macarons had to be refrigerated. That same night, I received an email from her with instructions on how to keep the macarons for later consumption. I would definitely purchase from her again!

Chef Chirp is a terrific Unilocal find. I ordered three dozen macarons in lavender, pistachio and coconut for my daughter’s bridal shower. I placed the order via Chef Chirp’s website and received a very nice email from the owner, Wendy, within 24 hours. We finalized the flavors and delivery date and time. Wendy delivered them promptly at the appointed time. The macarons were presented very nicely in a white box bearing the Chef Chirp logo and tied with a ribbon. Wendy provided a frozen gel pack to keep them cold for their trip to the shower venue in Pleasanton. Everyone raved about the macarons, with several guests proclaiming them to be the best macarons they’d ever had. I will definitely place additional orders with Chef Chirp. They would make an excellent hostess or housewarming gift.
I have had macarons from several places, including the famous Ladureé patisserie, and while Chef Chirps’ macarons may not be quite at that level, they can certainly hold their own. I highly recommend them.

I would give Chef Chirp more than 5 stars if I could!
I ordered the Chef’s choice this week and had them delivered to my office in Mountain View. I had several questions prior to placing the order and Chef Chirp was so accommodating and patient via email. I finally placed the order and excitedly waited for the macarons to be delivered and I didn’t realize that she would be the one to actually bring it to me! She even included a bag of ice to keep the macarons fresh. Best of all, she gave me samples to try since I was giving my order as a gift. She also wrote my friend a note which made it all the more special!
Expectedly, the macarons were phenomenal but what really blew me away was her personalized customer service. My experience as Chef Chirp’s customer was exceptional! I will highly recommend Chef Chirp to my friends!

I was so happy to have had a chance to tried these beautiful homemade macarons. The were so light and chewy with a nice shell. I’ve considered trying to make them a while back but was too intimidated to try. I think I’ll leave it for the professionals!
Chirp has a large variety of great/​exotic flavors to choose from. They were all delicious, but I have to say I can’t stop thinking about the jasmine macarons!!! The flavor itself was so beautiful!
I can’t wait to order them for my wedding… I may have to order some just for me :)

The best macaroon! I try so many different places for macaroons. This is the only one I am craving for!!! There are so many favors: lemon, dark chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate, rose, apricot, green tea, cookie n cream, coconut, jasmine, coffee and etc… All my friends, co-​workers and relatives are order from her. The owner makes it from fresh ingredients and no preservatives. That is the reason why I only stick with her. In addition to that, the owner is very nice and passionate with what she is doing.

This is strictly made-​to-​order-​then-​delivered macarons since they are actually home-​made and hand-​crafted. Thus always fresh. The flavors selection are mind boggling and you can even request flavors and color for your special occasions. All these for cheaper prices.
How about the quality? Well, I like less-​sweet desserts in general and find most macarons sold in stores are way too sweet. This place make them less sweet so that’s a plus for me. Thin crust with slightly chewy cookie and good amount of filling.
OK I still don’t get why people go crazy over crocs, cupcakes and macarons but if you love macarons, definitely give this place a try. My friends like to order here for their events like baby showers. My favorite flavors are: lemon, jasmine and apricot.
