In business since 1987, Bay Area Property Management, formerly Davis & Davis, is a family-​owned and operated business located in the heart of San Mateo County, or «the peninsula.» We specialize in residential properties and offer a uniquely high-​touch, high-​quality approach to all our services.

Business Owner

Bonnye is the Owner and Broker of Bay Area Property Management. Her background in property management includes starting her own company in Glendale, California in 1979 which currently manages over 400 single family homes, individual condominiums and small units.

Bonnye has been a member of NARPM (the National Association of Residential Property Managers) since 1993, and was a founding member of the National Association of Realtors property management section. She is also a current member of the California Apartment Association, holding a CCRM designation, and the San Mateo Association of Realtors.

Bonnye believes in proactive management and offers a responsive, top quality management experience to both owners and tenants.

We are the Happiest Tenants ever! Renting our gorgeous Burlingame home for 10+ years now through Bay Area Property Management, and we could not be happier!
Our 10 year old hot water heater finally died (on Christmas Day-​oh My); Heather and Diane had someone here the next day to fix! The service is amazing & contractors are superb!
The staff is just wonderful! I also had the recent pleasure of meeting MS. Diane Davies, Manager, for our annual home inspection: she was so attentive and professional! In fact, I found her utterly charming and helpful; indeed someone I want to have over for dinner!
I highly support and recommend this (100% female owned & operated) business! 10+

please do not believe these five star reviews on here. they are all fake!!! i i cureently live in one of their properties and yes they do keep the building run down and do not make repairs in a timely manner. they lie to tenants and try to collect as much money as possible. there are to many housing violations to list on here. the office receptionist is as rude as she possibly can be. the onsite mngr as horrible as. well. if you have an issue and need his help, he will complain to you about having to take time out of his day and blames the tenant for the problem! believe me, all negative reviews are true!

I rented a home on Eaton in San Carlos in 2010, found BAPM balanced keeping both owner and tenant happy. I worked with Heather and her husband and they were normal, hardworking people that seemed genuinely interested in getting nice people into quality homes. I would recommend BAPM and in fact recently looked into using them to lease my current home. Thanks for always treating me fairly.

Make sure you do the pre-​move-​out walk-​through, otherwise BAPM will charge you as much as they can after move out. Shelynn may have been great, but she left BAPM, and the new property manager seems to want to charge as much money on move-​out as she can get away with. I was only in the apartment 1 year, and I feel like I took good care of the place and left it in a good state, but they kept over $ 700 from my security deposit. Then they sent me a bill for more charges, at which point I called and argued about the charges. They wound up removing some of the charges, but still charged me $ 300 for painting and over $ 200 for cleaning. I’ve never felt this screwed by a landlord after moving out, most landlords compliment me on how clean I leave apartments. I guess this is why there are laws requiring landlords to offer a pre-​move-​out walk-​through, so make sure you take them up on that.

A couple of years ago we needed to find a place in the Peninsula to relocate from the East Bay.
We were used to the way things happen in the East Bay but had no idea on how to live in Redwood City. After MANY visits we found exactly what we were looking for, an amazing place that we can call home; it even has a wonderful backyard and our kids can play safely inside and still feel free.
Shelynn is the property manager for the place we are now living in. Though the property was built over 40 years ago, Shelynn has always been there to help us get things done, i.e., any repair has been done in a timely fashion and we have always felt like we are well taken care of.
I highly recommend Shelynn, and because she is at BAPM, I have to recommend BAPM. She makes things happen.

apparently i needed sheylnn to hike up this review to 5 stars!
but, alas, she was not part of my experience. bapm bought our apartment property about 2 years into our residency. right away, they did a great job fixing things up — new paint on the outside, re-​pavement, landscaping… we also finally got new windows installed when ours were painted over and wouldn’t open (hello fire marshall)!
the main issue we had to deal with were mental neighbors who didn’t understand apartment living (we couldn’t shower at night or walk around in shoes because the daughter had to be taken out of school and homeschooled — wtf?!). there were so many emails exchanged back and forth about our issues and bapm, of course, stayed neutral during the whole situation. based on 2 false police reports from our manic neighbors below, you would think this company would step in a little more instead of simply passing us off to the community conflict resolution center. our previous on-​site manager even tried to better understand what was going on and reported back to them, but he was unsuccessful in getting any action done. i guess this isn’t part of a property management’s job description.
overall, they definitely make things look good on the outside, but it’s all cosmetic fixes until you have to actually make contact.

Heather (one of the owners) emailed me a very sincere personal message– apologizing and addressing my situation. Her email was authentic. Heather made me feel like she wanted to understand the problem more than she wanted to resolve it, which I REALLY appreciate.
I also appreciate her offering me a few other rentals, before they hit the market.
I’m still having having a hard time giving them more stare because I am still living in corporate housing.

My company and I have worked with Shelynn Marenco of BAPM for the last several months cleaning some units for soon-​to-​be tenants. I find her to be responsive, upfront and honest, and caring about the condition of her properties.
A true testament to her is when neighboring tenants come up to me while on the job and tell me how happy they are with Shelynn and BAPM. I can’t say that happens when working with other property managers.

My fiancé and I just leased an apartment with BAPM. The entire office staff was incredibly kind, and made the process a pleasure. The apartment is in great condition and when going over the lease Heather made sure to cover everything important, and answered any and all questions we had. We primarily dealt with Heather and Deborah, and both were really kind. We are very eager to move into our apartment, and feel confident in our choice to go with an apartment managed by BAPM.

Landlords BEWARE!
Being an absentee landlord, we’ve had our property managed by Davis and Davis for over 15 years. We trusted them fully during that time because they looked good on paper. But it turned out, their responsibility stopped there. All BAPM cared about was how much money they could make and cared very little about landlord rights and up keep of the property. If they are not making more money beyon their normal fees, don’t expect to get any service from them. They would not take the responsibility of the fact that people who lived in our property were not the ones signed the lease.

I have lived at a property managed by BAPM (originally Davis & Davis) since 2004.
Shelynn, our property manager at BAPM, does a great job of being an advocate for both the tenant and owners of the property. When an issue arises with our property, Shelynn immediately responds and resolves the issue in a timely manner. She is super friendly and professional. I am always happy to see her during her annual inspections of our property.
BAPM has done a great job of keeping up our property. We are very happy to live here and hope to stay for many more years!!!

I began renting since when this company was known as Davis & Davis. During that time it was extremely difficult to get anything fixed in a timely manner. I never had a solid person to deal with at the management office. They were constantly changing employees which was frustrating. It would take weeks to hear back! I am so glad to report that things have changed dramatically for the better.
What changed? Shelynn was hired and also the company management switched to BAPM.
Shelynn has been my main point of contact for many years now. I find her to be extremely professional and sincerely nice as well. Her customer service is impeccable. She gets back to me in a timely fashion with a solution. She now has several other members in her team and they are all very responsive as well. The maintenance team and the contractors they use have all also been professional and easy to work with.
I would recommend renting from this company.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would.
These women put smiles on their faces, but all they care about is the bottom line.
When they sent their maintenance man to fix some plumbing, it never truly fixed it. The second time they sent someone he finally fixed it — but left a hole in my ceiling that still exists today.
I paid my rent on time for three solid years. After I lost my job and split with my girlfriend, they gave me 60 days to vacate my apartment. Did I miss any payments after I was unemployed? Nope. They never even gave me a real explanation for booting me out.
The Sirk family (owners and operators) are all business. Don’t trust them.
