We went to this little neighborhood park today and my two year old loved it! The play structures are surrounded by sand, but best of all are the TOYS! Sand toys, ride on toys, you name it. Such a friendly feel that people have donated their toys to the park for the kids to enjoy! I read somewhere that Live Oak park in Manhattan Beach used to have toys like this, but apparently this is the new spot! Heaven for the toddler aged kids! The grassy area has big beautiful shade trees. I saw(and heard) a bunch of wild parrots flying toward one of the trees(very cool)! The grassy area would be perfect for a picnic! The homes surrounding the park are quite charming too. Parking was easy close to noon on a Wednesday. I believe the street sweeping signs were for Thursday mornings, so parking that morning would be more difficult.

I used to take my son here a lot when he was a baby and just wanted to sit in the swings… but once he got old enough that he wanted to play & dig in the sand(and there were cat feces and it smelled like a litterbox ALLTHETIME), I decided it was time to find a new park. No thank you :(

Not a huge space, it’s slightly over 1 acre, next to Redondo HS. The park is cut in two by Vincent Street. It’s simply a grassy space and a kids’ play area, but locals love it for its old-fashioned charm. The park space is shaped like an oval, surrounded by quaint vintage homes. The big shade trees are lovely. Just driving through the little park provides a brief respite from concrete & man made structures. I suspect this park is one of the town’s oldest. It appears that way. Just to the east is Redondo’s street lamp neighborhood. Historic homes and the old no-frills park take me back to days when life seemed less complicated, perhaps a good thing. As in all Redondo Beach Parks, no dogs are allowed. 6 photos
