The first day that I came here and committed to buy my car I would’ve given this place 5 stars.
I saw a car on Craigslist and traced the phone number to their website and called and talked to Frank about coming down to see the car, he was very nice over the phone and answered every question. When we got there, Frank and his associate, Ben, were very nice and patient during the test drive, even letting me take the car to the freeway that was 10 minutes away. I liked the car a lot and had found a mechanic in the area to look it over, Frank and Ben had no problem letting us take the car and get it checked out. They mechanic said the car was in excellent condition, it just needed an air filter and serpentine belt– both are $ 15 parts, this wasn’t a deal-​breaker. I was pleasantly surprised when Frank offered to fix these two little things prior to me picking up the car the following week, due to private financing certain paperwork had to be done by my bank and at the dmv by Right Choice prior to me getting the car.
I took the open contract to my bank the following Monday only to find out the contract had been done wrong– they left off the odometer reading and failed to check the used car box. Considering how short the contract is, it was annoying to find errors. I didn’t want to drive all the way out to Redondo again so my bank accepted a revised copy faxed by Ben. The day to pick up my car was pushed back by this error and would be pushed back again because Right Choice took their time finishing the DMV paperwork, it took almost a week and a half from the time I committed to buy the car to the time I got it. During the week of trying to get the paperwork straight, Frank was nowhere to be found, even though at the beginning it seemed as if he was in charge. Ben was great and did everything I asked, but his accent is strong and sometimes there was a slight language barrier.
What really annoyed me was that when I finally went to pick up the car after the headache of the paperwork mistake, they hadn’t changed the air filter or the belt. While these were minor things that I didn’t ask to be replaced, if you say you’ll do something, do it. It felt like after he had made the sale, Frank was no longer interested in attending to the details. He did go and have the air filter changed while I waited (45 minutes), but the belt is now on me. Really, that’s why I can’t even give 4 stars, nothing bothers me more than someone saying they’ll do something and failing to do so.
All in all, the car was sold for blue book price, which is nice to see and I believe it is in very good condition. They do charge a little over $ 100 in documentation fees, which really should’ve been waived in my case considering they messed up the contract. But at least these guys aren’t crooks like most used car places, I would go here again.
