Fellow Calimexers are going to kill me for letting this secret place out of the bag. I was born four blocks away and now live in Wyoming. Every time I return home to visit Pops and my brother, it’s a mandatory trip for morning Juevos Rancheros. I married a Mexican, so I know Mexican food. I thought my mother in laws green chili was the best. Calimex has her beat. The tomatillos in the chili give it a nice clean citrus taste. Plus, the place is so immaculately clean you could eat off the floor. This could well be the best authentic Mexican food in LA, along with the taquitos and green chili at Olivera street.

Nice, modern diner-​like environment, attentive staff, good quality food and a broad menu and a ton of entrees at $ 10 or less. I’ve lived in the South Bay for nearly ten years and never been here. Good reviews from other Unilocalers helped get me to Calimex. For a couple of dollars more than a Wendy’s or McDonald’s, coming here is a no-​brainer.

Excellent place. Very courteous service, amaaaaazing food. I had the chorizo con huevos with corn tortillas and it reminded me of how my mom cooked it. Incredible, highly recommended. And cheap!!!

As a bonus, they’ved installed 2 new HD tuned flat screens on either side of the dining room for an improved view. It is a nice upgrade.
And most importantly, the enchiladas, tacos, and salsa is as good as ever.

We went to Cali Mex tonight seeking good, affordable Mexican food in an air conditioned environment since it’s been so damn hot and muggy. We walked in and the blast of hot air be aide the A/​C wasn’t on was more than we could stand, so we immediately left and went to Leo’s instead.

Go for Breakfast, this place is one of the most authentic Mexican Restaurants in Los Angeles, both my parents are from Mexico and that’s how I found out, they have a waitress named Auri she provides the best service I have ever received from any restaurant!
