History

Established in 1980.

The Mail Boxes Etc. concept was introduced in 1980 as a convenient alternative to the post office. Throughout its evolution, it has continued to define and lead the business services category it created. In 2001, UPS® acquired Mail Boxes Etc., Inc.® In 2003, the two companies introduced The UPS Store® brand. On April 7, 2003, approximately 3,000 Mail Boxes Etc. locations in the United States (at the time, nearly 90% of the domestic U.S. network) re-​branded as The UPS Store and began offering lower (around 20% on average) UPS-​direct shipping rates. In 2012, Mail Boxes Etc., Inc. became The UPS Store, Inc.

With more than 4,400 convenient locations, centers remain locally owned and operated. The UPS Store offers a variety of solutions to meet the needs of small businesses — including in-​store and online printing, mailbox and postal services, packing and moving supplies, shipping and freight services.

23 years in the industry, starting as Mail Boxes, Etc in 1992 in Kenmore WA. Owned three franchises at one time, having sold Kenmore and Woodinville to concentrate on our Redmond location. Father of 5, all graduates locally — 1 U of Puget Sound, and 4 U of W. Die hard Huskies and Seahawks fan. Skiing Biking Golf and Hiking are among my favorite hobbies. Raised in Kirkland Washington. Resides So King County. You might see me riding my bicycle to work when the weathers better (a nice commute from south end when the weathers nice)

This place unfortunately makes the term «customer service center» an oxymoron. The workers looked miserable and worked at a really slow pace. I was there to just pickup an Amazon package and despite only one person being in front of me I had to wait 15 minutes. The girl working there was sweet but kept making mistakes, this customer who had left came back to get a receipt she had misplaced.
I like the C. C center because you can pick up stuff as soon as it gets into the area but the customer service at the «smaller stores» is signficantly better.

10 days to get cross country and can’t even deliver on time. Fuck UPS. I will be making sure I never have to do business with this stupid fucking company again. Oh and nobody answers the phone at stores. Unless it’s the only way, don’t do UPS. So terrible.

We have had our business mailbox here for years and the service is awesome! Always has been and always will be! Mario always makes sure that our packages are shipped out in a timely fashion and he packs them better than I ever could. I’ve never been treated rudely by anyone who works there and couldn’t imagine anyone being rude.
We will always be a customer here! We love our ups store!

Horrible experience, terrible service, indifferent unhelpful staff. UPS always delivers packages when I’m at work, so I requested to pick it up at the store. My fiancée decided to pick it up for me last weekend at the store but was told it was at the distribution center (they didn’t bother actually verifying that, but he just assumed they knew what they were talking about, lol right?). Then he went there and they said it was sent to the store. When he gets to the store with the info notice, they attempt to send him back to the distribution center (anyone see any opportunities for actually helping the customer here???) without even so much as looking up anything. Then he calls them out and says I know it’s here. Then Larkin says I have to be there to pick it up. When I come down furious, she says «All he had was an info notice with nothing on it.» Except it had a number, which someone who actually wanted to help could have looked up. Oh no, apparently they are not really a UPS store and can’t access info notice, only a «tracking number.» Oh, nice attempt at avoiding helping your customer. Wait, do you have them interwebs there? Maybe you could have pulled up
and looked at it? Huh? No, that would have involved helping the customer, which this store doesn’t do. As if helping customers is such a chore. NO! It’s your job! What a joke.

I am an artist and small business owner looking for ways to improve how I operate. Today I decided to have a painting professionally packaged for ship-​out instead of doing it myself. Wow! I don’t think I will be able to do it myself now. :) Mario helped me with a smile from the moment I walked in the door. After packaging my painting beautifully, he was set on finding the best price possible for mailing it across the country. I was having a rough day before visiting the UPS store today, but left with a smile on my face and I am thrilled! Thank you, Mario for taking the time to help me mail my art inexpensively and packaging it with care. It means a lot! I’ll be back!

Had a UPS Next Day Air label already paid for, just forgot my printed copy at home. Cost me 1.61 to print because I had to use their computer. Refused to print it for free or even just charge me .10 $ for the copy.
People answered my questions well enough, but I can’t justify a good review when the company has such crappy policies. If my company didn’t use UPS as their main shipping supplier, I would never use them. FedEx is much nicer.

The staff are friendly and helpful! I’ve been going here for almost 15 years when my family first moved to Redmond. I remember it was so nice to find such a friendly store! I also rent a mailbox here and do all my shipping here too!
I would highly recommend this little mail store to anyone.

I have been a mailbox customer for over 8 years and have always had great service from Mario and everyone else at this location (and I am not easy to please… at least that is what I have been told :-)) This store is in a great location in Redmond and does get quite busy, especially around closing time and on weekends. The staff are busy and always multitasking (who isn’t nowadays) but they always acknowledge the customers. If they make a mistake, they acknowledge it and fix it: how refreshing and unusual!
Seems like some of the reviewers expect staff to drop everything and run over every time someone walks in with a package or a question. Setting down a package and walking out of a store??? Try that in the US Post Office, FedEx or UPS distro center: you will likely be surrounded and questioned in short order. Someone «shouting at you or the clouds» (WTH…) will be the least of your worries.
I have personally observed the staff going out of their way to help customers understand pricing, shipment delivery times, packing requirements, etc. Some of the customers are very rude and impatient and act as if the store employees personally determine prices and shipping requirements. Other customers come in with an attitude about a package delivery delay due to weather. Store staff are very good but not yet good enough to control weather!
One woman walked in, barreled past the rest of us in line and demanded her package. She was waving a delivery slip around and said UPS left her a note on her door to come down and pick up her package. The staff calmly looked at her delivery note and pointed out to her it clearly stated she needed to go to the central UPS facility on Union Hill. She stormed out without so much as a thank you.
If I had to deal with this much rudeness and morons everyday, I would probably be in jail.
Reviewers need to give these guys a break. They do a great job!

On Friday the 7th I had a very rude employee who could not get off her private call to help us. I wrote to the manager that evening, they were open both Saturday and Sunday and still as of Monday at 2pm there has been no reply. I just called the corporate office as I told the manager I would if I did not hear a reply. I also told her I would be posting a Unilocal review, I feel I waited 3 days before posting so I feel I have given them a chance to respond.
So DO NOT shop at the Redmond Way UPS store unless you enjoy having employees yell at you because you are interfering with their personal life.
I see others have had the exact same service!
I got a reply from the owner 4 days later. Clearly they do not want to honor their customers,

I’m sorry you had an unpleasant experience at the Redmond Store, but when systems go down, especially 30 minutes before closing, it is a bit unreasonable to to blame the counter person. A couple of rebuttal comments just so we both understand the issue:

1. The USAA system failed — not Lauren!

2. The phone converstaion was with a customer — not personal. For your personal enlightenment, personal
calls on the comapny phones are a no-​no.

3. Staff are under strict orders from me to NOT give out personal phone numbers.

4. I have responded to Corporate.

5. The issue has been discussed with my staff and it is closed.

Horrible. I should have read the other reviews before I came here. Staff is definitely rude and dismissive. They refused to help another customer who arrived right at 6 pm closing time without as much as a «sorry». They charged me 11 dollars for a f***ing cardboard box, even wanted to add extra dollars for tape. Definitely will not be coming back here. Save yourself money and stress and just go to the post office.

Do all ups stores have shitty service? Went in and set my package down somewhere temporarily to grab the wallet from my car and the owner shouts at me because that’s not where the packages are supposed to be. Old men shouting at clouds, it almost seemed.

I MISS THIS STORE! I had a box here for two years and now I’m at another location, I realize how good I had it there. The owners/​operators are friendly and knew my name and box number. Service was fast and friendly. The UPS Store where I have a box now is completely different. Every time I go to get a package, it’s like pulling teeth. Even after I left the Redmond location, they helped me out by holding my mail that I forgot to forward so I could come pick it up.

Seriously, UPS, hire people who don’t treat customers like we are a nuisance, or like we are mentally retarded. That’s the treatment I got yesterday. And this is NOT my first rodeo people. Been in a lot of diff UPS stores due to me being a personal assistant. I would rather walk across broken glass than go back into that location. Seriously, AVOID.

I’ve been in this store before to drop of a pre-​paid package and was literally in there for less than 30 seconds, even though it was crowded. I was acknowledged right away even with a line of folks waiting and when they saw it was prepaid they took the package and sent me on my way.
We walked into this afternoon with two separate bundles of things that needed to be packed and shipped. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and taken care of quickly and easily. The guy who did the packaging knew what he was doing, and the price for the supplies was pretty reasonable. All-​in-​all, a great experience.

Great location. However, I am not sure about the service. Just dropping off a letter, was just told to lay it on the scale. Didn’t stop what he was doing to actually come get it from me personally.
I didn’t purchase anything or need anything other than to drop off. I would have been happier to just drop it in a box.

Friendly people work here, and I’m a big fan of friendly. :D Shipping and material costs are pretty high, but they’re the same as what you’ll get elsewhere. I mostly use this place to drop off pre-​paid packages since it’s so convenient for me.
A note on their customer service: we came in to mail a package, and 10 days later it showed up at my apartment marked «no postage” — they had forgotten to affix any kind of actual postage to the package after we paid. I wasn’t sure how they’d handle that (we didn’t have a receipt of any kind) — but they were very apologetic and promised to ship it out that day. Nice!
