The Trails of Redmond

RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! The new manager who sits in the back is always in a bad mood. I don’t even like visiting the office anymore. It is unfortunate that after 6 years, for the first time I won’t renew my lease.

What an awesome place! I recently moved to US, I did spend quite a long time searching for houses and checked out almost all apartments on 148^th Avenue, cross roads mall. No place came even close to this place in terms value for money. You almost feel like you are in a resort when you are here. Location is just perfect if you work for Microsoft as Building 31 is just a 2 minute walk from the leasing office. Units are quite spacious and you have many options and floor plans. Units have enough storage space unlike many other places I saw. Major plus point is you don’t enter a kitchen or bed room first like I saw in most other apartments.
Best part of the place — the staff. Lynette was super helpful. I wonder where she gets her energy from. Always with a smile and always willing to help. Since I was confused whether to choose 1 bed room or 2 bed room, had to make several trips before I selected the right unit. Even I felt like I am making them work a lot. But she was willing to help and had tremendous patience every time.
It’s been a week I have moved in. Staff promptly asked me to check the place and report any damages if I found. I found a very few minor ones. They themselves followed up, took permission to come in and they spotted a few more minor things which I had not noticed and fixed all of them for me. Seriously who would do that? The management really cares for the residents. Super happy to move in here.
One word of advice — avoid Saturdays as there will a rush of customers and staff can only do their best to accommodate all of them.

I am writing this review upon moving out of this wonderful property. I have lived here for a year and am moving out only for a change of scenery and to live in the city.
The apartments are spacious and well maintained. The layout is easy to furnish for the shared spaces and the bedrooms. There is plenty of storage space in the unit too. The appliances are all in good condition and we never had a problem with any of them.
The amenities are hard to match (I am comparing them to places I toured to move into). They just renovated the clubhouse and it is freaking nice. I wish they would have done it a year ago because the combination of the pool table, shuffeboard and hot tub has been a great way to spend a few weeknights.
Now the things that I REALLY like about the place:
Jessica! I see that the Unilocal reviews are ripping on the management quite a bit. I cannot relate because Jessica has been exceptional at dealing with any of my requests, from move in to move out. She is friendly, accommodating and is just all round awesome!
The nature. The community is just gorgeous. If being in proximity of nature is something you value, this community is a great example of construction that maintains the Feng Shui of a natural area while building on a lot of the area. Well designed.
All in all I had a super experience here.

The property is just set up for the people to get a good feel about it the widely spread area, broad enough roads, lush green lawns and distantly spread blocks with the Microsoft Buildings just next to it gives it a must take feel.
One thing really makes me give it a second thought is the way the management considers the reviews; I really appreciate them replying to many (close to all) reviews asking them to respond back in an email why the hell would some one prefer to email the review to them which is intended to show out to the world not a person to person communication though!
The central management should have made a least effort to make changes as per the reviews, all I read is about the rude staff in the leasing office who are not at all appealing, the moment we enter the door they give a gloomy face, never accommodating, least appealing, wouldn’t hesitate to call them the lazy bugs.
We may go in for any request they say to contact back through email for which they never reply or even care to read it I guess. We have to give them some time and call them back as a reminder asking them for reply to the email. Have never seen such kind of staff in any other apartments.
The maintenance staff is all good except with Rob who never listens to the request and just denies any small request inspite of it being in their limits. Bob talks good gives good feel all the other supporting staff are fantastic and real helpful staff. The best part is they make sure they attend the request with in 24 hrs that’s great.
Once you plan for a tour and think to sign, then is when the real trouble starts. The staff is least bothered about the residents. Thought the management changed from BRE to Essex would bring in some changes I was totally wrong they are still the same.
Hope Essex could do something.
Berit is the worst of all in the leasing office being the property manager should be the most responsible, she never feels the responsibility and this might be the reason under such a leadership the staff might have been such.

My experience here has been ok.
Good: The staff is professional, not super friendly except if you are getting a tour. That doesn’t bother me though since I do not really interact with them that often. They offer emergency maintenance which I needed to take advantage once due to my shower not working. The maintenance guy was super friendly. There is always good landscaping.
The location is right next to Microsoft so that’s great if you work there. There’s also a nice park a block away. Nothing else is near though within walking distance.
Bad: The walls are paper thin which causes problems: you can hear people being intimate, babies crying, and dogs barking from several floors up. I hear people singing in the shower, footsteps, the laundry machines chugging away.
Another problem is the smell comes down through the kitchen vents. My apartment often smells like Indian food, which is a bit strange because I do not eat Indian food and I rather it smell like nothing.
There is a gym with Precor exercise equipment. It’s pretty high-​end but the machines do not seem maintained since some are missing handles. The clubhouse is something you would likely never use it looks like a non maintained hotel lounge.
Everything is made to look nice but is real low end like the floors look like wood but they are just vinyl and my cabinets are particle board and are sort of peeling.

I’m pretty frustrated with The Trails of Redmond apartments. They don’t even reply to my questions with a YES or NO answer! I’m being so treated like dirt.
I also want to mention that my car had an accident once and my wrecked car was parked in the apartment community for less than 8 days. They posted a piece of paper on it saying that it was going to be towed in the next 2 days. I was lucky to see it. They didn’t even bother to email or call me saying that my car needs to be taken care of or that it will be towed at owner’s expense. Requests to give me more time because I had just suffered an accident fell on deaf ears.
This place is NOT RECOMMENDED.

This was my boyfriend and my temporary housing for 2+ weeks when we first moved up to Washington for my job. On the first day of moving in here, I kind of panicked because the key we received didn’t seem to open the door and it was getting late. It was actually the right key but the lock was old and messed up.
The layout seemed nice enough, but it smelled kind of moldy in certain corners of the apartment… As our time in temporary housing was starting to run out, we started thinking about the possibilities of just signing a lease here and staying in the complex so the move would be easier.
So I tried to call them to set up a time for a tour, but the process was really difficult because the number they gave me sent me to their main office in the mid-​west somewhere and the lady was really mean for some reason. I then decided I should stop being lazy and headed down to the office.
The management folk rudely told us to sit and wait. As we waited, we watched other tenants come in and get shut down by the staff. The service they provided was basically «I don’t handle that part, go away»
They suddenly became very fakey-​nice when they found out we were interested in one of their apartments. They tried to showed us some places, but they also had problems unlocking the door with their keys. In fact, we couldn’t see it because the door wouldn’t open. We had to come back the next day and we watched the lady use brute force to open it… Gears of War style. The inside was ok looking.
While we were at it, we brought up some of the issues we saw in the reviews here, like the mold problem and stuff, and her response was «oh that’s because the tenants don’t take care of their apartments» which is the worst response to hear from the management team.
Back in the office, she was pretty eager to have us sign the lease. Like we’d ask her a question and she would answer quickly followed by «so you’re going to sign the lease?»
Anyway, we declined because this place is a bummer. My boyfriend and I call this place the «Tears of Redmond».
Oh and there was a passive-​aggressive note on one of the mails we got that said «We don’t know who lives here. Do you live here?» because we hadn’t turned in our mail-​forwarding form thing… What kind of question is that.

This place is way overpriced, but it is close to Microsoft. For the similar price of one bed, you can easily find a 2 Beds in the area. Finally moved out from here. Horrible management. they are very rude, and they fail to deliver my packages. I have to file missing reports to the credit card company all the time. Each year they raise your price for about 30%. Dont live there for more than a year! and make sure you get the right price, a same layout aprtment within the neighborhood could be priced a few handred dollar difference!
The community is quite, but they construct the place too often. During the summer, pretty much every single day, the lawn mower make your life unbearable in this place. The house is REALLY old, the walls are very thin wood as well. Make sure no one lives above you!

Recently moved here. Very RUDE management. they are too busy with their stuff…
Never ever again here… will move out pretty soon. And will not recommend this place.

BRE properties is the worst management company ever.
I tried to move in here recently and a «mis-​communication» from one of their staff led me into having to pay an extra $ 250 instead of receiving a refund for the money, they owed me.
Never ever going to rent with them in the future. Don’t want my arm twisted into paying the terrible management even more.

Very Rude office staff. For going over and giving a personal maintenance request, they speak to you as though you are at fault. They claim to have a very professional management system but the maintenance request is not completed properly. I am not renewing my lease. They go to tone it down when speaking to a resident.

I have lived here for about four years, and this last year has been very difficult.
1. The management: We currently don’t have a permanent manager. We have an interim manager, whose current line is «I have to check with my regional manager because I’m only the interim manager.» The regional manager is only onsite once a week for about two hours. We have not had a permanent manager for a few months.
2. The surroundings: The complex has replaced the lawn around the leasing office, and another area that you can see when entering the complex. It looks great.
The complex has a policy about storage on the porch/​balcony. It is in the lease, but is not currently enforced. Several apartments around the complex store cardboard boxes on their balconies, decks and/​or porches. It is very unsightly. One apartment in particular has cardboard boxes from grocery stores, plastic crates, wire hangers, et cetera, on their front porch.
3. The maintenance crew: Their maintenance crew is the only thing they have going for them. They are nice, and do their best to be accommodating.
4. Housing emergencies: Any issues with your apartment will be cared for during business hours. If you have a problem on Sundays, when the office is closed, or in the evening… good luck. Management is unreachable. In fact, the number that is listed has four selections. Three of the four selections forward you to someone who is not onsite, and cannot take care of any issues. They can only contact someone else who will contact someone else. The fourth selection should get you to management, or the front office, except when someone is on the line; and then you are sent to a recording that says you have made an incorrect selection.
If you have no issues whatsoever, it’s a decent complex. But… with the current management in place, if you have anything go wrong with your apartment, expect a long wait for resolution.

I really enjoyed this complex!
It was pretty quiet and I could rarely hear my neighbors, just the occasional loud movie or slider shutting closed. The prices were good and we just moved to have more space.
Parking was never really a problem unless I came home late. The office has a library of movies that can be rented out for free and there is a great clubhouse with various machines and weights to workout. The clubhouse has free wi fi and the property has two pools, which are never too busy.
I love the location and how quickly I was able to hop onto the freeway, go to Redmond or Bellevue.
I would recommend living here!
