History
Established in 1987.
The origin of The Grounds Guys is unique: ten brothers born with green thumbs worked together to grow a landscape management business from the ground up. Founded under the name Sunshine Grounds Care in 1987 the company grew with the addition of each brother. Together, they built the Sunshine brand on quality workmanship and genuine care for their customers.
In 2010, Sunshine, along with The Dwyer Group®, founded a new company in the US, The Grounds Guys, taking advantage of the wealth of knowledge Sunshine had gained over the years. Sunshine rebranded to The Grounds Guys and, with the assistance of The Dwyer Group, continued to expand their reach within Canada. Although separately owned and operated companies, both continue to from each other. Today there are over 200 location across the US and Canada. Each location is locally owned and operated sharing the same core values and passion for caring that The Grounds Guys brand is built upon.
Meet the Business Owner
Michelle D.
Business Owner
I remember digging in the dirt with my grandmother & how great it smelled. Now my family lives on a small farm where we keep honey bees, chickens, sheep, & Border Collies. I LOVE my chickens! They roam the entire farm & we have NO slugs! Using only organics, we grow many rare & unusual flowers, fruit trees, vegetables and berries in our demonstration & test gardens. Our most treasured day each year is in fall when we cook a meal 100% Our Farm to Our Table.
In 2010, I left my career as a CFO to open the first Grounds Guys Landscaping in WA. We serve the Eastside’s commercial and residential properties in Landscaping, Lawn Care, Irrigation, Design/Build & Sustainable Landscaping. Farming has taught us healthy soil is the first & most critical step in creating lush & sustainable landscapes. We compost all customer green waste – weeds & leaves – at the farm & use it on our own gardens & pasture. Food waste goes to our worm bin & wood goes to a local wood recycler. It’s a beautiful thing!
