Skylights West

Dan really came through for us. We noticed mold around an existing skylight a few days before New Years. I must have called 15 – 20 contractors and the few that called back noted that it would be at least 4 – 6 weeks. Dan called back immediately with a solid bid and did the installation about 8 days after our initial conversation including ordering a custom size skylight. His work was excellent and will be the only contractor we call in the future for skylight work.

Saw the great reviews and called 2 or 3 days ago. No one even returned my call…

This review is long overdue.
When I had my roof replaced, I figured it was a good time to put a skylight in the bathroom as well. I had collected bids from several roofers, and two had recommended Dan and Skylights West. I checked Dan out on Angie’s list, and invited him to bid.
I was impressed with his attention to detail I have other skylights in the house, and he noticed that there were differences in their construction that I had overlooked. He was very good at helping me to get clear on exactly what I wanted. His bid was competitive, and he won the job.
He coordinated his schedule with the roofers so that he could start the installation when they were doing the tearoff. I was impressed that he could get that thing framed and installed in a day, by himself. He also had to reroute the bathroom vent. He came back the following day to finish the drywall and to paint.
It’s been two years. The skylight works great, and the finish work and paint have also held up well — better than the last paint I used in the bathroom!
Overall, Dan is very professional. He really knows his stuff, and pay attention to details. He asks the right questions. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had with a contractor. Highly recommended.

I called several roofing companies after a big storm when my skylights started leaking. Dan Marsh, of Skylights West, was the only one to return my phone call. I had to make a decision on repair as the leak was continuing to damage the dry wall. I didn’t know anything about Dan but he was prompt and professional and his bid was fair. I took a leap of faith and kept my fingers crossed.
He did a great job. He started and finished in one day, sealed the whole area off with plastic so there was no dust in the rest of the room, left everything very clean, and put in 2 good quality Velux skylights. He even repaired the dry wall that had been damaged.
I have another skylight that was installed by Sunspaces (see review) that is leaking. I am calling Skylights West today to have that one replaced as well.

I had Skylights West install two skylights in living room last month. They are fantastic. Dan was very professional. The skylights looked great after they were installed. He left the job site very clean as well. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the result. I’d recommend Dan to anyone who wants a skylight installed.
Note: this was installation of new skylights (i.e. there were no existing skylights in that location; the roof had to be cut and drywall had to be installed to make place for a skylight).
