Shadowbrook

This was the 1^st place I have stayed, it’s a great place to stay. The location is good and is kids friendly. I had good time staying here. Staff is helpful and service is good.
The trails are good and the view from house is beautiful. This a safe place.

I have been a resident for about a year now and I love it! It’s a great community to live in for families with kids as well, although the kids play area is pretty small. The pool is well maintained and the gym seems adequate. The trails are great and the landscaping this year is pretty amazing too! The staff at the leasing office are personable and very friendly. The apartments are maintained well, although they could use some updating.
Bottom line: It’s affordable, they’re friendly and I’ve had such a good time living here.

We love living at Shadowbrook. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and maintenance staff is good at getting issues resolved fast. Gym is small and machines are very outdated, but there are so many good gyms around here it’s not a big deal. It’s nice to have a pool in the summer.

A great place to live, especially if you’re new in town with a job at Nintendo/​Microsoft.
I moved to Washington from Georgia for a job on the Microsoft Campus and chose Shadowbrook because of it’s proximity to work. I just finished renewing my lease for another year because I was so happy with my apartment.
–It’s in a prime location (less than 3 miles from Microsoft/​Nintendo and less than 2 miles from Grocery Stores, Movie Theatres, etc).
–The maintenance staff is friendly and prompt. Only had one maintenance issue so far, created a ticket on their website, and the problem was fixed by the time I got home from work the next day.
–Fitness center, pool, and racquetball court on site. Pool usually has kids in it, but that’s to be expected. Fitness center is pretty nice for an apartment complex and even has a hot tub.
–Apartment itself is definitely not brand new and shows it’s age in a few places, but it’s more than sufficient to be happy to live in. Toss up a few decorations and you’re good to go.
–Haven’t had any issues with noisy neighbors/​thin walls so far, so that doesn’t seem to be an issue here either. My neighbors above me stomp pretty loud, but I think that’s just a case of lead feet and not really Shadowbrook’s fault.
–Parking can get a little cramped if you come home late, but covered spots are readily available and pretty darn handy in the winter months when frost on your windshield is common in the morning.
Overall I’d give it ⁴⁄₅ or 8.5÷10. A great place to live and a great location. Not completely flawless, but then again, where is? More than anything, I just love being so close to everything I need.

Decent apartment and good location, but most of my issues started after moving out. I received a confusing bill that stated I had lost most of my deposit due to an apartment repaint. I went to the office to discuss the charges and was told that some of the charges did look weird, they would look into the re-​painting fee, and would send me an email when it was sorted out. A month later after receiving no email, I called to ask about the charges. They had forgotten to look into my charges and send me any of the information I had requested. When they went to answer my questions it was a repeat of the conversation I had a month ago. Very frustrating and felt pretty rude.

Its pretty decent place with a good environment around, the trees trails are good. The pool and gym are small but still clean, I think they can do better at the gym infrastructure but still its good enough.
The staff is gentle and the guys do pay attention to your matters.
I have been staying here for 8 months which is long enough to assess them.

My wife and I have lived in several apartments each during college, and we’ve never had to pay for anything at move out except carpet shampoo.
When we moved in to Shadowbrook, we had the option of one that had been remodeled or one that was on the ground floor (which we chose). Everything was outdated, which we expected, but they weren’t that bad and we knew we would find a new place to purchase after a year. The part of the apartment in the worst shape was the paint job. It was obviously haphazard with paint on things that shouldn’t and not enough paint on things that should.
Despite fully calling that out when we moved in, we were charged $ 100 for them to have the place repainted. Of course, they needed to repaint anyway for the remodel — they were looking for something to charge us for so they could keep all the deposit. Expect to pay a few hundred extra when you move out.
Other things: extremely chatty birds lived in our chimney, we could constantly hear people walking around in the apartment above us (through three tenants), and they kept the grass soaking wet so you couldn’t walk on it.

I have lived here for about 7 months. I have had no problems with management in fact they have always been very helpful. I had a few things that needed to be fixed when I first moved in and in less than 12 hours the problems were remedied.
All of my neighbors are polite and respectful. I have never had a problem with anyone being too loud. Except for the guy who has the loud motorcycle who goes for a drive on Saturdays. But once a week is it really a problem.
I have lived in many apartments and this is by far the best.

Lived here for nine months, short rental contract.
The good? Racquetball court onsite, that was a seller for us. Nice landscaping, «trails» to walk around the complex. And decently located, close to the Sammamish River, movie theaters, restaurants, the library, and many other local business and sights.
The bad? Pretty crappy management. While I never had any real run-​ins, I had maintenance enter my domicile without ANY warning and saw the way many of the residents were treated. I also was physically harassed by a resident and although the cops arrived and questioned the guy and warned him, the complex management didn’t give a crap. The demographic is largely families with small kids and folks who think it is completely appropriate to blast their ultra-​cool music out of their ultra-​cool 1982 Cadillac at 11 at night.
The really bad? My apartment smelled like pee from the day we moved in. We complained over and over but everything they tried to do failed and everything we tried to do failed. It needed new carpet, and they weren’t going to do that while we were there.
The really, really bad? At the end of our lease, our rent was $ 975. The quote for another year’s lease? $ 1325…a 36% increase after nine months. Their excuse? «Market rates» I told them that gouging good tenants isn’t conducive to keeping them around, packed my bags and found a better apartment 5 miles away for $ 150 less than I was paying.
I’d highly recommend staying away from Shadowbrook unless you are an olympic hopeful racquetball star.
