History
Established in 1963.
6,000– Years Ago: The site was used as a Native American hunting and fishing camp
1876 — John Tosh homesteaded 160 acres on the Squak River (now the Sammamish River). His barn was located on the southwest corner of the park. It burned down between 1884 – 1886.
1904 — James Clise, a Seattle banker and his wife Anna purchased 78 acres from John Tosh. The initial house was built as a hunting lodge, but by 1908 it had grown into a 28 room mansion.
1905 — The development of a farm began and eventually included 24 structures by mid-1906. The Clise family purchased another 393 acres for the farm, which raised prize winning Ayrshire cattle and Morgan horses.
1916 — Washington State University awards Mrs. Clise an honorary degree in agricultural science.
1956 — The farm herd is sold. In 1959 and investment firm purchases the farm.
1963 — King County residents pass Forward Thrust Bonds to purchase the farm.
