Honestly, I didn’t know it was possible to look forward to going to the dentist, but I actually do look forward to it now. It seemed like every other dental office I’d been to, you either like the dentist, or the hygienists, but never both. But Dr. Kern is a great guy, and he has put together an excellent team.
Last time I was there the hygienist said she was going to do that thing where they measure the pockets around each tooth. I must have groaned or something because she asked if I was OK. I told her that this process always hurts, but that I would be fine. She told me to let her know if it hurt at all, because it shouldn’t. And I’ll be darned, she not only did it way quicker than I’ve ever seen it done, it didn’t hurt a bit!
One last thing, before going here, I had never left a dentist office feeling good. Despite never getting a cavity, or needing any dental work, they would always make me feel like I was doing something wrong. No one at this office is judgmental or mean. Everyone is super friendly and kind. I’ve been coming to this office for the last couple years now, and I’ll never change dentists again if I can help it.

I had not gone to the dentist in years (no insurance and I was terrified… I know, silly). I had a really good experience with everyone at this office. The best dental experience I have had to date. The front office staff is very nice, the office is clean, the dentist and assistants were all very gentle, understanding and friendly. My husband and I moved about a half hour away, but we continue to go to this dentist because we feel so comfortable. I highly recommend them :)

Fantastic dentist… best on the Eastside. The hygenists are extremely experienced and gentle, and they take a lot of care and time! I have been going to Dr. Kern for over 10 years and I have had lots of work done the care has always been superior.

What a great dentist! For me, going to the dentist was like «Little Shop of Horrors» until I started with Dr. Kern and his staff. Seriously, I’d rather be buried alive than have a root canal. I’ve been going to Dr. Kern for two years and it’s all good. Even had a root canal! They listened, fixed me up with the comforts of modern dentistry, and honestly no bad memories, no hurts.
Staff and chairsides are friendly, efficient and well-​skilled. A well-​run office.

My mom’s biggest fear in life, right after drowing, used to be root canals. She had to get two a few years ago and was very freaked out. She went to Dr Kern for two of them, recommended by a neighbor who works in his office, and was able to confidently cross root canals off her fear list: no big deal, she said.
So when my downtown dentist casually remarked that I had three cavities and needed to replace two old fillings with two crowns and that it’d possibly be $ 3700 for the root canals, I called my mom and drove to Redmond for a second opinion. I had experienced no pain at all so WTF. I’m pretty sure that hosehead was planning on proposing to his girlfriend and needed money to go to EE Robbins or something.
Dr Kern squeezed me in that same day, and took a look at my choppers and gave me a much calmer diagnosis — one crown, slight chance of root canal. Dr Kern fixed me up with one crown a few weeks later, no big deal. The other crown he said could easily wait until I had time and funds to replace the old filling.
The office is large, clean, and modern, including little flat screen tvs to distract you while you’re getting drilled. Which, by the way, I didn’t feel at all.
The staff at Dr Kern’s office is great, too. Susie in particular is my favorite. She even offered to call my old dentist to cancel my bogus/​alarmist root canal appointment for me. How’s that for customer service!
