Jackline Joseph S, MD

Dr Joseph should be reported for unethically practicing medicine. She is supposedly an internist. She referred me out to specialists who in turn found nothing wrong after she prescribed a CT scan which has 300 times the radiation as a Xray. The office is filthy and a breeding ground for bacteria.

Zero stars. Such a poorly run practice, you’re better off going anywhere else or nowhere at all.

Dr Joseph refers her patients very fast to another specialist Physician. Yes she refers to good ones but… She does not stop and take the time to try and figure it out herself. The group practice waiting room is stained & horrible. I feel like I need to disinfect after sitting there. Magazines are way too old.

I went to her regarding some muscle tension & anxiety. I had gone to a psychiatrist beforehand to see if I had any serious problems creating this trouble but we didn’t really discover anything.
Jackline seemed more comfortable referring me off to other doctors than really taking the time to even think about my symptoms. When she finally ran out of doctors for me to go see, she prescribed Zoloft (an antidepressant) to me saying it was a muscle relaxant and that I could stop taking it anytime (very NOT true). When I told her I’d rather try something that wasn’t a anti-​depressant she told me I would have to go see a psychiatrist instead. Gee thanks. Massive waste of time and a huge bill after all the extra doctors she wanted me to go see.
On the brighter side it was really easy to get an appointment with her within a day. However she was 45 minutes late to every appointment I had with her.

I needed to hand-​carry some x-​rays from Dr. Joseph’s office to my lung doctor’s office. Dr. Joseph’s office had tons of time to get them ready – about a week. I even called the day before to remind them I would be coming the next morning to get them. Did they have them ready when I needed them? Why no, not at all. The x-​rays were «out», who knows where, and they couldn’t even estimate when they would be back. I had to go to my appointment with the lung doctor without the x-​rays I had been asked to bring. And when I told the receptionist there I didn’t have them, she stated that she wasn’t surprised, given who my doctor was.
In addition, the office staff do not bother returning phone calls at all some of the time, and when they do, they don’t follow instructions. There is no way of getting test results other than to leave a message for them to return. You can never directly reach someone for test results. So you then have to be waiting by the phone for their call, IF THEY CALL AT ALL. If they deign to call and reach your voicemail, they will ignore your explicit instructions to leave the test results on voicemail.
Consequently, I have been unsuccessfully trying to get test results from NOVEMBER 10^th for a month and a half, with no luck. I certainly hope the results are ok and that’s why they are taking their sweet time bothering to give them to me. But I would still like to know for sure, and to know the specifics. I think it’s ludicrous that we pay so much for testing that we then aren’t even told the results of. they had no problem taking my money, but they do have a problem actually delivering the results I paid for.
Dr. Joseph is really not a great doctor, either. She doesn’t seem very well-​informed, or at least she didn’t pass that information on to me. When my first liver tests came out high, she seemed to indicate that I probably had fatty liver disease. Perhaps because I am overweight, she just leapt to that conclusion. When I asked what else it could be, she mumbled about a couple other things she had supposedly ruled out. hmmm, that’s odd, when I do a brief internet search I find all kinds of other things it could be, and I also find out that high liver results are incredibly common and are usually in fact nothing – just a temporary elevation. Which i’m guessing is what I had, seeing as how no one has bothered getting back to me with the retest results.
I don’t feel like my cough was ever diagnosed or treated properly. It’s like she doesn’t know what the problem is, she isn’t interested in doing the real work to find out, so she just throws a bunch of things at it and hopes it will stick. For the cough I came to her about, she prescribed me Prilosec (for heartburn), asthma medication, and Prednisone. Uh, hmmm? Shouldn’t you determine what in fact is causing the cough before making me pay a bunch of money and risk side effects from several different drugs for different conditions???
I’m sorry to have to write this because I don’t think she’s a bad person, but I spent hundreds of dollars here, and a lot of time chasing the office staff by phone, and don’t feel like I got any real help for my cough. I still have no idea what causes it, but it’s not asthma or heartburn.

I would like to echo other people’s concerns about her and her office. She’s never once diagnosed anything, or even given me an idea of what might be wrong, she simply hands out the name and number of a specialist and moves on to the next thing.
The last physical I had her office just *lost* all of my lab work, and didn’t realize it until 2 weeks later after I called TWICE, so I had to go get it done again. I had the *exact* same experience as the other reviewer with ultrasounds. Their phone answering machine is awful, if you need anything you usually have to leave a message several times before you can get any response. I’ve been going to her for about 3 years, and now I’m finally sick enough of her and her lazy, rude staff that I’m just going to get off my butt and find a new doctor.

A quick update:
After calling 3 consecutive days, a nurse from Dr. Joseph’s office finally called back.
Nurse: «You have iron and Vitamin D deficiency. When did you stop taking the supplements?
Me: «Uh. .I was not taking any supplements. I was not told to. but what happened to my ultrasound results that were send in by the hospital.»
Nurse: «Oh. let me see. Yes, here they are (pause.) you have fibroids.»
Me: «I have fibroids? What does that mean? What did Dr. Joseph say?»
Nurse: «Well, in the sticky note from the doctor that I am reading, she did not say anything.»
Me: «Can you please fax me these results?»
Nurse: «Sure, I’ll do it tomorrow.»
That was 3 days ago.
Unbelieveble. Please avoid Dr. Joseph and her office.
