History

Established in 2014.

For 15 years, owner Sally Brucker has inspired nearly 6,000 children and adults in Seattle’s Eastside communities. The Igimo Art Station welcomes students of all ages and skill levels, providing a supportive, creative atmosphere to encourage the discovery and development of artistic brilliance.

In addition to our in-studio drawing and painting classes, summer camps, and private parties, we provide art classes to-go! Our enrichment programs offer art education services to schools, community centers and senior centers. We take care of the supplies, so you don’t have to worry about the mess. Just sit back, relax and create!

«Igimo is the inner curiosity of a child with creative spark; or in other words, a person who likes to get messy, use their imagination, freely create, explore and have fun!» –Sally Brucker

The name Igimo came from Sally’s mother, Tamae, who crafted the term as an endearing nickname for her children.

Meet the Business Owner

Sally B.

Business Owner

Having been a teaching artist for the last 15 years and working with students between the ages of 4 and 94, I have no doubt that I am an art instructor. I’ve mastered that. But, for most of those 15 years I didn’t think of myself as an actual artist. I don’t have an art degree, I don’t sell my work and I don’t show my work in galleries.

I have to rewind to a time when I was three years old and explored the wonderful feeling of coloring the living room wall with my mother’s bright red lipstick — soft, smooth and creamy. I’ll never forget the pride I felt as this display of artistic brilliance has actually stuck with me all through life.

Today, I guide students to embrace their own artistry, explore different mediums and styles, express their creativity, enjoy the experience, and ultimately encourage them to honor their artistic brilliance. I am an artist. I create lesson plans that not only challenge my students but also keeps them coming back for more. That is my art.
