CertaPro Painters of Eastside

We had our house painted by CertaPro Painters a couple of months ago. I can’t say enough about how great it was to work with them. Jessica, Jason, and the rest of their team did everything perfect!
Jason came out and gave us an estimate. He answered all of my questions quickly and thoroughly, explained the painting process, the time involved, and what their current schedule looked like. As soon as we provided our down payment, along with color choices, they were starting within a week on power washing the house.
I met their painting team, they were the nicest folks! All very professional, careful, fast, and skilled. They had the job done in two days.
Jessica came out and made her inspection at the same time I made mine. I was happy to see the owner of the business out there making sure that everything was right. We both agreed that the job was perfect.

I was disappointed with the work done. I’d read numerous glowing reviews so hired them to paint our house exterior based on these. Some aspects of the company were good, others less so. They guy (Jason) who came over to do our quote arrived promptly and gave me a printed quote there and then, which was in the mid price range of other quotes I’d received. Certa Pro emphasized the daily clean up and full clean up at the end of the project.
When I was getting the quote, I said that the only reason we were repainting the house was to protect the siding from weathering (particularly on the south side of our house). Jason said that the siding still looked good and the repaint should protect it as I intended. However, when the work was being done, Jessica (the owner) informed me that some of the siding on the south side was coming off with the paint, but the paint should protect it for five years. What??? That’s the whole reason I was getting the house painted. I’d have had the siding replaced first if I knew the paint was only going to last five years… and I feel that Certa Pro misled me.
When we hired Certa Pro I’d made it very clear that we were out of town for three weeks (July) and wanted the work to be completed while we were gone (so that we wouldn’t be so disrupted with the noise, plastic coverings over the windows etc). They were accommodating with this and I’d left my key and check for the balance with my neighbor. When I returned from vacation the first thing I noticed (before I could look at the new color of my house) was my table, chairs, bike and a few other things in the middle of our front lawn. The crew had moved them from the porch so that they could paint under the porch, but hadn’t put them back. When I spoke with Jessica she was ‘confused, as they always put things back in place’. It was almost like she didn’t believe me and that I was making this up!
When I did my inspection of the work, there were some sloppy areas. Our house is painted green with white around the windows and shutters. Around one window there were some marks of white on the green and the surrounding brickwork, so obviously the white was painted on afterwards. When I mentioned this to Jessica and asked them to clean up the white, she denied her crew had even painted there! Well it was obvious they had as the white was on the green. Where’s the customer service? That’s twice I felt like she was denying her crew’s errors and effectively saying I was lying.
When we had our quote I’d specified that the lattices which were fixed against the house didn’t need to be painted and reinstalled (they would have to be removed so that the house could be painted properly). This was put on the quote and Jason recalls our conversation and even said that they could dispose of the lattice for us. However, when the work was finished, the lattice had been repainted and reinstalled on the side of the house, in a different place to before, so they’d created more holes in the siding. I asked them to remove these and fill in the holes and repaint, which they did do but not very well. Jessica’s initial response was that this wasn’t on the quote. I double checked and yes, in fact it was on the written quote, and Jason recalls our conversation. They also left the lattices in our yard, with the ends in the flower beds. Clean up? Hardly. and this was after I’d already complained about lack of clean up from the initial work. They also hadn’t put the lids on the paint cans properly when they finished the job.
In fact, when the crew member came round to do the touch up work (sloppy areas where there was white on the green, or where they missed, or where they had paint on my fence or the brickwork, or where the paint wasn’t put on in a straight line (around borders of green and white)), we’d arranged a specific time to ensure that I could show them all the areas which needed fixing. The worker arrived 40 minutes early, didn’t ring my doorbell, but just walked around the back of my house (trespassing???) and said hello through my open back door. It made me jump, with the worker arguing that he didn’t think anyone was home. That was the whole point of scheduling a specific time — so that I was home to walk them through the work. Again, this is not very professional.
When our previous home was repainted by a different company we had no issues at all with sloppy work and clean up, and 10 years later it was still looking great.
I would not recommend Certa Pro unless you keep a VERY close eye on them.
My neighbor is now using them (by coincidence), and their crew started work (noisy power washing) at 8am on a Saturday. Noise hours are 9am and later on a Saturday. Certa Pro, as a professional organization, you should ensure you and therefore your crew know what these noise hours are. You work in residential neighborhoods, please be respectful of those around you and the hours it is permitted to make noise.

We are extremely happy with the end result of our exterior paint project! CertaPro did a great job, the bid was competitive, the crew was great (polite, hard working, knowledgeable, accommodating), and most importantly – our house looks great! I would hire this company again and highly recommend them to others in the area who are looking for a painting company.

The CertaPro crew recently painted the inside of our home. They did a fantastic job! They are professional and courteous and did an excellent job. They also painted the outside of our house about 6 years ago and the paint still looks fresh! I highly recommend CertaPro. Jessica and her crew are awesome!

We couldn’t be happier with the finished project. From start to finish, CertaPro was professional, responsive and communicative. The estimate we received was extremely detailed, and left no question as to whether our concerns had been heard (they had). Jessica (the owner) was very straightforward and honest when it came to answering our questions and gave us a no pressure sales pitch. We really felt comfortable turning this project over to her and her crew because of how detailed her proposal was, we knew that every tiny detail had been thought out and communicated with us. The process of picking the color was really easy– she actually was willing to ask the owner of our inspiration house what their color was, but since they weren’t home she spent the time to compare the color to swatches and give us her recommendation on what to go with to match. We ended up doing a custom color and she made sure that we ended up with the exact color that I had picked.
Her crew was extremely professional. They were prompt, very easy to communicate with, respectful and hard workers. You can tell that Jessica takes employment very seriously and hires people she knows will represent her well.
We ended up having some coverage issues after the paint all dried, some thin spots and some shadows under the siding edges. When I mentioned this to Jessica, she was extremely prompt at taking care of it and had her crew out immediately to respray and ensure that the end result was picture perfect. She personally did a final walk through with us and went over basically every square inch of the exterior with us to make sure that everything was perfect before they left. (Apparently our color has a lot of yellow in it, which is famous for needing extra coats for great coverage).
I really appreciated her eye for the details and how easy she made it to communicate with her about the few things at the end that needed some more attention. I would hire her again in a heart beat because she made this experience easy and stress free. I know that coming back for an entire day to respray and perfect everything was a big added expense for her, but you wouldn’t have known it from how she treated us in our walk through. She really goes the extra mile to ensure that her customers are happy and pleased with the finished product, and as a result she makes the process easy as well.
I should also note that her employees had great attitudes about coming back for another day of work as well. No complaints, cheerful demeanors and the same great work ethic.
