We purchased a very expensive($ 25k+) new HVAC system and fireplace for a new home from Central OR Heating and it was an awful experience during the entire process. Problem after problem with bait and switch, techs that don’t know what they’re doing, zero training on a new and intricate system, had to teach ourselves how to use the wireless thermostat, tons of installation errors that WE have had to fix, they charged us $ 300 to give us the paperwork for our($ 1,000) tax credit(seriously? After we spent over $ 25,000!), they try to convince you to buy their service contract stating they’re the only ones in the area that can do the maintenance for warranty. Complete lie as I called around to verify this. I would never purchase a contract that obligates me to these people. I can’t wait to get rid of them and start using our prior HVAC company in Bend who we loved. The only reason we used this company is because our builder recommended them(he has since quit using them due to constant problems as well). I cannot stress enough how incompetent their techs are. We had major installation errors which caused a host of problems for us. It took multiple«fixes» to get some components of our system working! They«finished» our install with components not working. They either knew it and lied or didn’t check/know but either way it’s unacceptable. We had 2 separate water leaks on our furnace — one was immediate and they left it that way. Our humidifier was installed wrong and didnt work for almost a year! We have dealt with them for about 1 ½ years to get everything done right. Ridiculous! They even screwed up the bathroom fan vents(which we had to fix)!!! After some investigation I found that other companies install the same system for less money AND are certified with the state to give customers a $ 2500 tax credit! I would never recommend this company and I would never use them again! Spare yourself months of headaches and hassle(and money) and use another company!

They were caught in a huge lie! They told me my heat exchanger was cracked and I needed a whole new furnace. So we decided to get a second opinion. Company number 2 said that was totally false. When I called Central Oregon Heating & Cooling the story they told was long and detailed about how they have specially trained technicians that no one else in the area has and that I could be leaking carbon monoxide etc… I was freaked out enough that I asked that the tech come and show me the cracks so could take pictures. Then HENEVERSHOWED! So I hired company number 3 to get a third opinion. He confirmed that my heat exchanger was fine and also told me that this is not the first time he has caught them in a lie. This is truly a small part of a long detailed story that they failed miserably in every area. Do not use this company!

I am having a similar experience as Mollie. Central OR Heating & Cooling came out a month ago in June when we realized our air conditioner was not working. Cost me $ 480 to replace a board + labor. Then the weather turned chilly, now it’s hot again and the air wont go below 78 degrees. I had to follow up 3 times to finally get a part ordered delaying the fix by 5 additional days. It’s been a week since the tech was out and it still is not fixed. I’m told this new part is in the $ 700 range! My property is a rental, so this could really come back to bite me even worse! I will be exploring other options going forward.

Do not use this company! Central Oregon Heating & Cooling of Redmond did a poor job multiple times, had beyond poor customer service and WILLNOTSTANDBEHINDTHEIRWORK! I purchased my home and asked for a servicing of the heat pump and furnace before purchase. The previous owner hired this company and they serviced(what we later found out) a broken heat pump and didn’t properly service the furnace. They did however say. «found heat pump flat on charge due to a crack in a factory weld». They«repaired the leak and recharged the system to proper charge». They also put in 2 new filters for the furnace. This original total came to $ 675.00 that the previous owner paid just a few days before I purchased my house. Once moved in I noticed in 100 degree weather in late August that the A/C didn’t work at all… A/C is controlled by the heat pump. Less than a month later in the chilly weather we realize the heat doesn’t work when we kick it on which is also controlled by the heat pump. Between finding this and the time it took to get Central Oregon Heating and Cooling back out here we hired a professional inspector to come out and he told us that the whole system is shot. The heat pump is in need of being replaced and the furnace was not properly cleaned and serviced. The inspector confirmed there is no difference between hot and cold. It was all blowing the same outside temp and he did lots of testing proving the system was shot. We finally got someone out to take a look in October after a few weeks of waiting to get on the heating companies books. A different technician tells us to simply run the heat on Aux heat/Emergency heat to take the chill off but to be careful because it will jack up our bill.(Heat pumps have emergency heat setting that runs at 78 degrees or not at all so its not a good heat option). The technician asked me if I have a home warranty plan(none of his business) and I told him I did. He had the balls to ask the name of the warranty company and write it on my receipt later going on to say I should just call them to fix the mess. Also made sure I knew once I used the warranty company it would void all the work done by Central Oregon Heating & Cooling. His diagnosis for my visit says«recent leak search and repair — we don’t know if the current leak is the same issue — found system out of charge. Customer has warranty through American Home Shield». Later goes on to say«refrigerant has a burnt smell — leak search and repair — acid test ok — placed system into emergency heat». So basically he does nothing other than put my dial on the wall from heat to emergency heat and tells me there is a leak that they may or may not have created after they were there the first time(though i hadn’t ran the system more than a few times trying to get it to work) but that we should have another technician come back out to check that out and that I need to pay $ 89.95 for this diagnosis visit and again of course if I want another technician to come out and fix the problem I would pay again. I got on the phone with a woman in the office who didn’t listen to a single thing I said. She was rude and didn’t have the slightest clue about customer service. She just kept saying well the previous owner didn’t pay for the heat to be fixed. I agree she didn’t pay for that but it would have been nice if your technician didn’t service a bum heat pump in the first place. Now I am stuck with no heat and no ac and get to come up with the balance not covered by my home warranty(which is in the thousands) since this company wont back their work because of their own unprofessionalism. Very sad. I will clearly not be using this company again. Expensive lesson to learn on a first time home purchase that’s for sure!
