Kimberly Crest

This is a really cool place to come visit, take pictures, have weddings, or set up special occasions once you make reservations of course. We took the $ 10 tour lead by our guide, Carol and it was pretty cool. We learned some history of the place and the 3 ladies that have owned the house and got a chance to see how they lived back in the day. Really beautiful house.

LOVED THE PLACE! Moved out here and wanted to explore the area so googled places and stumbled upon this extremely cute garden! It’s not a very huge area but a great getaway and cute garden to relax and take in all the beauty it has to offer with its breathtaking view. It has a cute small gift shopworn these adorable hand painted tea cups that I ended up purchasing along with a notecard that I want to send to friends and make them envious. Bought tickets to the next tour that was happening in 25 minutes and spent the time watching an informative video about the history of the house and its owners. When the tour started, couldn’t have been more pleased with the docent and the explanations and the pace of the tour. Explored inside of the house and got to see some cool authentic pieces inside and outside of the house. The garden is beautiful and the house is very majestic. Loved the experience and would definitely come back.

I don’t know what to make of Kimberly Crest anymore. In years prior it seemed like it was more accessible-​I would take my children there to walk through the gardens and gaze at the pond at different times of the day and days of the week. Now access to the gardens is much more limited, apparently only available when tours are conducted on limited days of the week when the gate is open. Just got back from there after discovering a sign that no tours are given in August, and the gate was locked even though it was during the times it «should» be open. Perhaps there’s a problem with vandalism, which is a shame… and I understand about the challenge of staffing docents, but after a couple of unsuccessful attempts to simply take a walk there (I’ve been on the tour and don’t need to go again) during their «hours,» I give up.

The Kimberly Family (of Kleenex fame) gave this house and all of its contents to the City of Riverside as a museum so that Prospect Park would not get developed into tract housing. It is amazing to see a home built in the late 19^th century and filled with beautiful furnishings of the early 20^th century completely intact. For those with an interest in historic homes, design, or local history this place is pretty great.

I took my mom on Mother’s Day. They had a special… free for moms. The grounds need some work. The fountain was dirty and not working, and a lot of the plants did not seem well off. I enjoyed learning about the history of the estate and the people who owned it. My mom and I both live in Redlands and we had never been inside. The tour was good, but my mom and I really enjoyed that our docent was unsure about all of the ‘facts’ she gave us. So, we really could have been learning about Mt. Vernon for all we know. A lovely house. It is set up just how the owners left it. If you are in Redlands, check this out for a healthy dose of history.

I’ve performed two weddings here in the past year. This place is gorgeous and the staff was on it when it came to keeping everything organized and on time. Both couples (one in 2012 and another in 2013) were very positive about their experiences here. The venue itself is beautiful, with the house towering in the center of the park and lovely gardens, trees, fountains and an English-​style pond near the ceremony site. It’s expensive to be sure but what a lovely place to say your nuptials and celebrate with your loved ones! I definitely recommend this place to couples looking for an elegant and romantic venue.

Having grown up and been to Prospect Park millions of times, I had never been on the tour of the house. My boyfriend and I did this, and I was a little disappointed. I was hoping for something a little more interesting maybe? We skipped over a lot of the rooms and didn’t even get to go to the third floor at all. Also, no ghost stories. Come on.
Nonetheless, do come for the great walking trails and charming gardens, but skip the tour. Also, check out the little gift shop near the back of the house — we got cute music boxes there!

Visited KC as part of a day trip to Redlands (KC and the Lincoln Memorial Shrine took about 5 hours with 2 hrs travel time round-​trip from Pasadena).
The house dates from 1897, with a French château exterior and late Victorian interior. The tour includes most of the first and second floors; I thought the highlight was the large parlor, surrounded by a beautiful staircase and balcony area. It’s a grand house that also feels like an actual home, which it was until the late 1980’s or so.
Our docent was very enthusiastic and friendly. If you like house tours, you’ll enjoy this; if you don’t, you won’t. Gorgeous views down the hill from the house.
My only criticism? There are ***many*** stairs from the base of the home to the entry point, which makes a brutal climb for anyone with mobility issues. I suggest that KC post signs in the parking lot to alert visitors that people with climbing problems can be dropped off at the top of the hill. We didn’t realize this until we got to — wait for it! — the top of the hill.
Otherwise…a visit to KC makes a lovely part of a day trip to Redlands.

We had our 9÷2÷2012 wedding at the Carriage House and it was perfect. Yes, there is limited parking but they also provide a parking attendant for free. It is one of the only venues we could find that would let us bring our own food vendors in, and that was very helpful because we wanted vegan catering. Amanda, the new venue coordinator is INCREDIBLE. She came in in the middle of our planning process, taking over for the old coordinator, and picked it up smoothly. She and the venue were completely flexible and accommodating when we wanted to do some things differently than they usually do at the venue (ceremony and dinner outside, dancing inside). She is calm, friendly, and organized, keeping everything together in her file, and really goes above and beyond the duties of a coordinator who isn’t paid outside of the venue rental fee. She helped meet and greet all our vendors, facilitated the rehearsal, helped with set up and cleanup, and really ensured everything went smoothly. I felt completely confident her and she exceeded my expectations. The venue itself is beautiful– so happy we chose to have our wedding there!

I had signed up for a brunch in Dec 2010 that keep getting pushed back due to poor attendance or rain. Terry went above and beyond the call of duty and made it up to me can’t wait till I finally tour the grounds !!

So excited about our wedding this summer. The grounds are amazing and I really do think the price is reasonable for such beautiful grounds. I feel like I saved so much on décor and flowers because you are surrounded with so much beauty. You can dress this place up as much as you want or keep it on a budget and it’s still gorgeous. What really sold me when I booked was wedding coordinator Katherine. She was so experienced, flexible and had so much insight about weddings at Kimberly Crest. She gave me so many ideas and was helpful in so many ways. I got great recommendations for vendors from her and she gave me great ideas for staying on budget. She is now a freelance wedding coordinator so I definitely recommend her. The wedding coordinator that is there now is also very amicable and helpful. I’m excited about having chosen this as my wedding venue.

Great place but very poorly ran! The director isn’t on property 97% of the week and doesn’t work well with others… What a mess!
But i must say the event staff always pulls off wonderful events!

If you are a bride/​groom thinking about KC for your venue, run for the hills!
My girl friend had her wedding ceremony recently at KC. Let’s just say the bride was in tears, not the happy kind.
The venue itself is beautiful. I’ll give that much credit. BUT that’s where the good ends.
1) The venue has no parking and doesn’t give access to the main house.
2) There isn’t much room to get ready for the wedding party. The bride and the brides maids had to get ready in a kitchen/​wait room next to the restroom. Since that’s the only room available, the groom and the groomsmen had to change in the restrooms.
3) The worst of all… the venue coordinator was HORRENDOUS. She didn’t help out with anything. She sat on her behind and talked on her cellphone to god knows who the entire time. She made the BRIDE CRY because the bride was so furious! And friend is NO bridezilla. She’s kind, generous, thoughtful and sweet. So if you made this bride cry, you are one shitty-​ass coordinator.
4) The coordinator acted like she was going to be so helpful on wedding day and said she would do X, Y, and Z. Come the wedding day, she was nowhere near the action. Didn’t help with anything. I, was one of the brides maids had to help set up the tables, coordinate some of the vendors in my flipping SATIN GOWN because the coordinator literally said, «No. I don’t do that kind of stuff» and walked away.
If anyone askes about this place, I’ll make sure I tell them to stay the hell away — because of the shitty coordinator.
I hope the management fires her because tYOUR VENUE will lose customers because of your coordinator.

Kimberly Crest is AMAZING!!! I recently had my wedding there in April and I couldn’t have had a better experience! Katherine the wedding coordinator was great she helped me with every question I had, she was kind and always there! If i called and she wasn’t in she called right back every time. We had the best wedding there. I highly recommend it to everyone. Parking is a little far away but they have golf carts that transport your guests. None of ours complained.

I wish I was more impressed than I actually was. The house and gardens are so beautiful, but the interiors are very bland and the story of the residents there didn’t interest me much. I couldn’t help but feel that the tour was really geared toward the very young and/​or the very old, and that both demographics may be more easily impressed than I was. Really, was I supposed to find her slips and pantaloons interesting? Was I supposed to ooh and aah at the photograph of Amelia Earhart? Or the driver’s pocket watch in the museum part?
Now granted, some of the rooms were really nice, but I guess it would be hard for the interior to live up to the fabulous exteriors. Perhaps it comes down to the docent, too. Maybe if I had a different docent, it would have helped.
